Our ‘cover boy’ for this issue is the Bernese Moutain Dog, Jacqui and David Benson’s Ch, GB & Int Ch Patrick De La Galea at Bernervalley, bred in Spain by F Gutierrez-Barquin, ‘Patrick’ has had a great show career, but most of all is a family pet, much loved by all the Bensons, especially the children, Sophie and David. This year started with a bang, when he took the CC at Crufts, and he hasn’t looked back, with Best in Show at South Tipperary and also Irish Ladies Kennel Club, and is currently No. 2 on the Leaderboard, with 4 groups and the 2 BISs. A few trips over the water, brought his CC tally to 7, and he will also attend the Champion of Champions finals, having qualified at Sligo Ch Show. He lives on the family farm with his kennelmates and David, Jackie, Mark and Sophie, near Portdown, Co Armagh, Northern Ireland - contact details: benson318@btinternet.com
