All Ireland Bull Breeds saw Best in Show go to an American invader, Ch Lambluvs Irish Brew, owned in Ireland by Colm and Rose Hastings with his American breeder Jere Marder and Keith Richardson. Aptly named, ‘Guinness’ currently heads the GAIN/Irish Canine Press Group 1 Leaderboard with a plentiful collection of group wins including Bray, Irish Ladies, Munster Ag and Tralee, where he finished Reserve BIS. A new Group 3 winner, Harold Quigg and Mark McGonagle’s Kerry Blue, another American import, Am Ch Melbees Great Expectations For Irisblu, collected the rosette for Reserve Best in Show; previously Reserve BIS at Coleraine and BIS 4 at Limerick, with other placings, and 2nd on the group Leaderboard though only shown for the last part of this year. The BIS winning white Standard Poodle, Ch Dinastii The Libertine Afterglow, owned in partnership with Sally and Sean Burns and Mary & Val Coghlan, and handled by both Val and Sally, was BIS 3 whilst Gerry McFaul’s Standard Longhaired Dachshund, Ch Shardaroba's Fashion Flow At Dachville, RBIS at IKC Int 1, was BIS 4. The show sponsor was Dr Clauders.

Judging Best in Show at the IKC International 2 Champ show, sponsored generously by GAIN Petfoods, was Kalle Johansson from Sweden, and he chose for top honours David and Morag Connolly’s Australian imported Border Collie, Ch Nahrof Blurred Lines at Huntly, Roo the Eukanuba IKC Challenge winner earlier this year and with three groups from her limited show appearances at the start of the year. Harry O’Donoghue’s Blackdale kennels are still producing top winners and it was his latest star, Ch Blackdale Park Royal, piloted by Harry’s grand-daughter, Kellie who took Reserve Best in Show. He was Group winner at Combined International & BIS 4, and also took BIS 4 the previous day at the IKC Int 1. BIS 3 went to a regular visitor to Irish shows, the Dalmatian Ch & GB Ch Kelevra Classic Cliché, homebred and owned by Carole Dodds and Stuart Pearson, who handles her, with Stuart and Mum, Heather Cummings’ Pointer, Sh Ch Kanix Kroner at Sevenhills, taking BIS 4.

Topping the first of the Irish Kennel Club Autumn International Championship Shows sponsored by IKC partners, GAIN PETFOODS, was the young Weimaraner bitch, Sh Ch Zilverein Strike A Pose In Vogue, bred and owned by Jim and Karen Gibson, and handled by Jim to her first BIS win. Not yet 2 years old, she already has group wins from Fermoy International, Cork, where she was BIS 4, and Tralee; Judge Philip Behan found his Reserve BIS in Gerry McFaul’s Standard Longhaired Dachshund, Ch Shardaroba Fashion Flow at Dachville, no stranger to top honours as he is already way out front on the GAIN/Irish Canine Press Group Leaderboard with 13 groups and he was Best in Show at Carlow and RBIS at Banbridge. The German Shepherd Dog, Hurley’s Nensy Von Yugerschof, was BIS 3 with Emma, Bette & Frank Archibald’s homebred Golden Retriever, Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Abinvale Levanto, taking BIS 4.
