All Breeds judge Colette Muldoon took centre stage to award Best in Show at Portadown's 12th Championship show, her winner’s rosette going to Tom and Annie Mervyn's homebred German Shorthaired Pointer, Sh Ch Tomanipoint Celtic Knight, taking his second such award within a fortnight. Three year old 'Rory', the recent Best in Show winner at the IKC Celtic Winners International, was today winning his 3rd group so far this year and tops the GAIN Petfood/Irish Canine Press/Dog World Group 7 Leaderboard, following on from his Leaderboard win in 2016. Reserve Best in Show under Colette was another of the year's early pacesetters, Sean Carroll and James Newman's Papillon, Multi Ch Expana's Sea Dragon Conqueror, 'Howard' the Best in Show winner at the IKC St Patrick’s International show in March. The show was sponsored by Dr Clauder's with Stewart Carson representing in the photograph.

Judge elect for Best in Show at Banbridge Canine Club was Evelyn Hurley, well known for her 'Lahume' Tibetan Spaniels and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, and Vice President of the Irish Kennel Club. Coming out on top from the ten group winners was Philip and Ed O’Brien and Jarka Poulova’s Kerry Blue Terrier, Ch & Cz Ch Edbrios Exotica, 3 year old 'Zuzie' off to a flyer in 2017 with her second group of the year so far, IKC Celtic Winners and Group 2 at the IKC St Patrick’s International as well as RCC at Crufts. Reserve BIS under Evelyn was Gerry McFaul's Standard Long Haired Dachshund, Ch Shardaroba’s Fashion Flow, 3 year old 'Blaze' another one out of the traps early in the year after group wins at both the IKC shows, these wins establishing an early lead at the top of the GAIN Petfood/Irish Canine Press/Dog World Group 4 Leaderboard.
