At the last of the Circuit show was the Lhasa Apso, Ch Heneva Raising The Bets, ‘Harry’, owned by Eamon Keenan from Co Down, and bred by him in partnership with his sister, Eva, and Uncle, Henry Stanley that was judge Nick Hammond's choice as Best In Show. Nick Hammond, gave Reserve BIS to the Basset Hound, Barry O’Neill’s record breaking Ch & GB Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, who had earlier won his fifteenth all breeds group this year

Nick Hammond’s Best Baby Puppy in Show was Philomena & Paddy Leonard’s Shih Tzu, Plenard Wanna Be A Superstar. RBBPIS was awarded to Imelda, James, Saoirse and Ryan Wade’s Phalene, Austrene One Direction To Saoirian.
TRALEE '13 CHAMPION STAKES
Brenda Banbury’s Champion Stakes winner was the Papillon from Middlesex, Jo Davidson-Poston’s homebred GB Ch Spinillons Rebel Rowser. Runner up was Orlaith Keenan’s Croatian imported Medium Poodle, Ch Xavano Intimately Yours at Sleepybrook.
TRALEE '13 PUPPY STAKES
The Puppy Stakes provided an excellent entry of seventy six, 34 dogs and 42 bitches, and from these, Brenda Banbury selected a youngster from Belgium, Hilde Provost’s Cocker Spaniel, over with Hilde on her first trip to Ireland. Handled on the day by Jessica Pretty from England, 8 months old Troubles In Paradise Mac-Sporran.
TRALEE '13 VETERAN STAKES
Heading up the veterans in the Veteran Stakes was Tina and Catherine Broaders’ Wire Fox Terrier, Ch Crystalwire Solo At Brookside, with Carmel Murphy’s Irish Setter, Clannrua Aille, in second place.
TRALEE '13 BRACE STAKES
In a repeat of the Limerick result in the Brace Stakes, it was again Petra Erdman’s Irish Soft Coated Wheaten duo, Multi Ch Ballyhara’s Treasure From Tra Li and Multi Ch Ballyhara’s Jewel Of Tra. Taking top spot under Brenda Banbury was Bennett’s Italian Spinone, daughter and mother, Hochopepa Gold Jessenniaa At Mistyare and Testaverde Nella Foschia With Hochopepa.

Angel Garach Domech was centre ring for Group 1, finding his winner in Emilio Castillo & Patrick Fortune’s Shetland Sheepdog, Navarrem Fortune Lady, who then went on to BIS 3, with 2nd place to Frances Toman’s Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Ch Whitepoint Stare If You Dare.

Topping Group 2 under Alex Zee was David and Jackie Benson’s Bernese Mountain Dog, Crufts CC winner Ch & GB Ch Patrick De La Galea At Bernervalley, another group victory for ‘Patrick’ who was BIS at both South Tipperary and ILKA and who has a total of 7 CCs; in second spot was Triona Ni She’s Dobermann Pinscher, homebred Ruholfia Alani.

Alex Zee also judged Group 3 where his winner was Colm Beattie and Rita McCarry-Battie’s Yorkshire Terrier, Ch Brilliance Shine Of Glory Around Areown, while runner-up was the Kerry Blue Terrier, Richard Dalton, Philip O’Brien and Jarka Poulova’s Dalstar Il Divo.
TRALEE '13 GROUP 4
The Dachshund Group 4 was judged by Carlos Saevich whose victor was the visiting Norwegian Miniature Smooth, Solberg’s Multi Ch Minstemann’s Fantasy From Thorn, a first group award in Ireland, with Julie Emerson’s Miniature Long Haired, Longort Mini Cooper At Pachego, in second place.

Well known Irish judge, Howard Tonks was in charge of Group 5 where his winner, Craig Bannon & Niamh Carroll’s American Akita, Ch/Am Ch/BISS Hoka Hey’s The Power And The Glory, went on to BIS 4; runner-up under Howard was Sean Carroll & James Newman’s Pomeranian, Ch, GB & Int Ch Belliver The Ultimate Creation, ‘Victoria’ having a great week with RBIS at Clonmel and Killarney.
TRALEE '13 GROUP 6
Barry O’Neill’s Basset Hound, Ch & GB Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, finished up the Circuit with RBIS at Tralee, having earlier won Group 6 under Leif Ragnar Hjorth, whose second place rosette went to Caroline Reynolds’ Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen, Tioga Hugh Goes To Glenariff.

Australian Toni Dennis was judge elect for Group 7 putting through to the BIS line-up, David and Morag Connolly’s Weimaraner, Sh Ch Zilverein Got Me Mojo At Huntly, handled by Morag; in second place was Tom and Annie Mervyn’s German Short Haired Pointer, Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Karlivar Dusky Rose At Tomanipoint, ‘Lucy’ BIS at Deise and RBIS at Newtownards & Swords this year.

It was Elana Ruskovaara from Finland who decided Group 8, choosing as her winner the regular visiting Welsh Springer Spaniel from Kent, Kerry & Melissa Duncan’s Sh Ch Redfrith Betty Boop, with second spot awarded to Jessica Pretty & Paul Carpenter’s Cocker Spaniel, Totenkopf War Games At Joaldy, a first group placing for these cross channel visitors.

It was Leif Ragnar Hjorth who put through the eventual BIS winning Lhasa Apso, Eamon Keenan’s Ch Heneva Raising The Bets, from Group 9, where his runner-up was Sally & Sean Burns and Val & Mary Coghlan’s Standard Poodle, Ch Sarnia Magic Once More At Valentine.
TRALEE '13 GROUP 10
Topping Group 10 under Fabrizio La Rocca was Tim, Marion & Ian Finney’s homebred Irish Wolfhound, Ch Gulliagh Aramis, in second spot was Albert Ritchie and granddaughter, Danielle Ritchie Smith’s Whippet, Demerlay Armabay Billie Jean, group winner at Portadown.
TRALEE '13 Charity Bike Ride
Two ex Junior Handlers undertook a‘Circuit’ Bike Ride to raise money for the chosen charity for the Minority Breeds, which now includes on its committee, some ex Juniors. Lorna Bermingham and Brendan Beattie decided that they would ‘Cycle The Circuit’ and raise money for Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland, and from their 500km ride, sometimes on very hilly roads, they have managed, so far, to raise €2,500.

Lorna Bermingham and Brendan Beattie were presented with a small token of their achievement from Tralee Chairman, Ned Burke, and BIS judge, Nick Hammond, whose company sponsored their accommodation en route. Limerick Show organised a massage for them on the Thursday, a welcome chance to relax those tired muscles, and they looked relieved that Tralee, their final destination, and a hot shower, had finally been reached.

TRALEE '13 Happy Birthday Emer
A surprise birthday party at the side of the Hound rings on the last day of the circuit for Emer Mooney, currently enjoying great success with her Deerhound ‘Elsie’, aka Ch Rosslyn Quartet, but probably better known for her many years’ connections with her successful Irish Water Spaniels and also Whippets, shown under her Currabell prefix. We were all to polite to ask which landmark it was, but there was plenty of cake and ‘refreshments’ supplied by her friends, and a super atmosphere around the ring.
