Reserve BIS wasTom Mervyn and his wife Ann Marie’s German Short Haired Pointer, Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Karlivar Dusky Rose At Tomanipoint, who completed her GB title at SKC.

Ann Ingram’s choice for Best Baby Puppy in Show (4 – 6 months) was the Boxer, Michael Durcan and Jane Bermingham’s Diego Von Klowsberry, 4 months old ‘Diego’ handled to success by Jane.
SWORDS '13 CHAMPION STAKES
Seamus Oates’ judged the Champion Stakes and his winner was Ashling Connolly’s Bichon Frise, homebred Ch Ashmair Sunshine All The Way. Runner-up was Rosie O’Rourke and Josh and Billy Henderson’s Dobermann Pinscher, Ch Roszar Falbrav Via Tuwos.

Seamus Oates judged the Puppy Stakes classes and the Swords qualifier for next year’s POTY Finals from the 49 entries in the Puppy Stakes was Olive Taylor’s 6 months old Chow Chow bitch, Lechan Catelyn At Taylorian. In second place came Sue and Ralph Holmes’ 9 months old homebred Keeshond, Suraliam Remington Steele, also the Green Star winner on the day.

In the Veteran Stakes, Lynda and Colin Matthews’ top winning Whippet, Ch, GB & Int Ch Collooney He’s The One, took the top spot under Seamus Oates; multi group and BIS winner, ‘Brad’ was IKC Dog of the Year 2010. Runner up was Una Rigney’s Kerry Blue Terrier, Ch & GB Ch Misty Blue Dawn at Arigna, Best Veteran in Show at Combined International.

Italian All Breeds judge, Claudio De Giulaini, judged Group 1 finding his winner in Frances Toman’s Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Whitepoint Stare If You Dare; ‘Cody’ won the Res CC from Puppy as well as BPIB at Belfast Ch Show last September; BPIS at the Munster Corgi Golden Jubilee Ch Show, he was to take his title the following day. In second place came the Shetland Sheepdog, Brenda and Joe Doyle’s Ch Sevenoaks Gold Edition, top Shetland for the past two years, he was G3 at Banbridge this year.

Julija Aidietiene, from Lithuania, officiated Group 2 selecting as her winner, Samuel Reid and Steve McMaster’s Newfoundland, GB Ch Hanningfield Bewitched, who has 4CCs and 2 RCCs. Taking the reserve spot was Andrea Cleary’s Rottweiler, Ch Cuchulain The Brave.

Jochen Eberhardt from Germany judged Group 3 where his winner was the eventual BIS winner, Harold Quigg and Ron Ramsay’s Kerry Blue Terrier, Torums Calico Jack at Irisblu; Group 2nd went to Sean & Eileen Knight’s homebred Airedale Terrier, Ch & Int Ch Mynight Maid of The Mist. ‘Kelly’, recently BIS 3 at South Tipperary, was Runner-up Terrier of the Year 2012.

Gitty Schwab from Belgium awarded Group 4 to Christine Bastable’s Miniature Smooth Haired Dachshund, Ch Hasmur Missy S Ticket To Dazzle Luvs Chrishane. Gitty gave 2nd place to the Emerson’s Smooth Haired, Ch Batendach Black And Sleek for Pachego.

Erna Upmeijer from the Netherlands judged Group 5, her winner here was Bryan and Hazel Aherne’s American Akita, Ch Melodor Kaygeebe. Runner-up was Darren and Elaine Walker’s Siberian Husky, Ch Lueldar Cause For Applause.

Italian Claudio de Giuliani also judged Group 6, finding his winner in Barry O’Neill’s Ch & GB Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, en route to BIS 3 later in the day. In second place was Ivor and Michelle Keelan’s Petit Basset Griffon Veendeen, Ch Afterglow Chunkey Monkey at Tejas.

Manuel Borges from Portugal was centre stage for Group 7 where his victor was the RBIS winner, Tom and Annie Mervyn’s German Shorthaired Pointer, Sh Ch Kalivar Dusky Rose at Tomanipoint, clinching her fourth group this year; ‘Lucy’ has had a great run and is also a Champion of Champions qualifier from South Tipperary. In second place was Cathy Loughlin’s Irish Setter, owned in partnership with Katie Kelly, Sh Ch Rohanmor You Were Made for Me, the Best in Show winner recently at Munster Canine.

Jef De Verrees from Belgium was the judge elect for Group 8 and his winner Ralph Dunne’s Clumber Spaniel, Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Bimbiks Graziella for Richley. The multi – owned American Cocker, GB Sh Ch Nasailleen In The Buff, handled by co-owner Eamon Keenan, ‘Roudi’ was the DCC winner at Crufts.

Laurent Heinesche from Luxembourg judged Group 9 where his winner was Tony Moran and Lionel Prouve’s Tibetan Spaniel, Ch & GB Ch Avigdor Elvira, handled by Lionel to a first group placing of the year. Second place was awarded to Caryn Coogan’s Pug, Kingpoint Where Them Girls At, an import from Finland.

Jef De Verrees also judged Group 10 where Emer Mooney’s Deerhound, Ch Rosslyn Quartet, handled by Katie Kelly, came out on top; ‘Elsie’ is a multi Green Star and BOB winner. Taking second place was Gerry and Pauline Clarke’s Irish Wolfhound, Ch & Int Ch Roxanne of Shantamon, winner of the IKC Top Showdog Awards Finals in February, going to the Eukanuba World Challenge in America later this year as Ireland’s representative.
SWORDS '13 BEST JUNIOR HANDLER
Fiona Robertson, a former successful Junior Handler herself a few years back, judged the three Junior Handling classes at Swords and chose for her winner Nadine Bermingham, winner of the 15 – 17 years class and the 2012 Irish Junior Handler of the Year. A most accomplished handler, who competed with the family Tibetan Spaniel.
