Best Baby Puppy in Show was judged by BIS judge, Kay Creamer, she found her winner in, Mark Richardson & Stewart Carson’s German Shepherd Dog, Alberdale Yamara at Ryansons, with Cole’s Shih Tzu, Cloughlea All That Jazz for Samchi, handled by breeder, Yvonne Cannon, runner-up. Ashling Connolly’s Bichon Frise, Ch Ashmair Double Act, started a great day off in style by winning the Champion Stakes under Laura Cox. In 2nd spot was Lynda & Colin Matthews’ Whippet, Ch GB & Int Ch Collooney He’s the One, Annual Champion for the past 6 years, who has qualified for the Champions finals in previous years.

Topping the Brace Stakes under Laura Cox was Christine Bastable’s Smooth Haired Kaninchen Dachshunds, mother & daughter duo, Ch Melriding Marsellaise Luvs Chrishane and Ch Chrishane Luvs Lottie The Hottie Jun Ch, who have had great success in these stakes recently.

Hanne Laine Jensen from Denmark, was Group 1 judge at Swords, where her winner was the T W Johansen’s Pem Corgi, Bul Ch Alex Av Quantos, Mol & Ge Jun Ch, a first group placing with Helen Grimes’ BSD Tervueren, S.R. Kvina’s Cruising The Stars To Everquest, taking 2nd place.

Belgian, Petrus Roosenboom, a Molossoid specialist, judged Group 2, sending on to the BIS ring, Mike and Roslyn Prior’s homebred 4 ½ year old Rottweiler, Rosamic Redbull, ‘Mojo’ now has 2 Green Stars and 1 CACIB. Roberta Curran handled hersand husband, Alex’s Great Dane, Ch Highesteem Perfect Guy V Xandero Jun Ch to 2nd place.

Returning to Ireland for a second judging appointment was Brigita Kremser from Slovenia, a group 1, 3 and 9 judge and it was Group 3 she judged here, her winner being , Cara Davani & Cathy Neill’s Kerry Blue Terrier, Ch Kebulak Dirty Harry, whofinished BIS 4. Clifford & Eileen Aiken’s Scottish Terrier, Ch Slievecroob Scotch Heather Jun Ch, handled by son, Christopher,who was Junior Handler of the Year in 2010, representing Ireland at Crufts ’11.

Benita Morrison’s Miniature Wire Haired, Stargang Dusky Maiden to Benzden, was the choice to win the Dachshund group 4, herfirst group, under Rui Valente De Araujo from Portugal, whose runner up was Jennifer Cunningham’s Smooth Haired, Ch SontagSheila Blige for Celandine, handled by husband, Martin Yardley.

Fernando Bonet Quilis from Spain, judged Group 5 where his winner was Maureen & Brian Carroll’s Keeshond, Ch Arctic KeesBest Kept Secret, handled as usual by Maureen, his second group win in 2012; he took 3rd at Combined, topped it at South Tippand was 2nd at Cork. Peri Burnside’s Alaskan Malamute, Libertia Reggae Master Jun Ch, handled by son, Adam, took his first group placing with 2nd.

The only Irish group judge was IKC Director, Nick Hammond, and he gave another top placing to Barry O’Neill & Sandra Stack’s Basset Hound, Ch & GB Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy Jun Ch, a multi group and BIS winner, and winning his fourth group this year, having taken the red rosette at Combined and Banbridge as well as Hibernian, where he finished BIS. He was also G 2nd atIKC CW. Eamon Murray’s Beagle, Ch Heathergrove Persian Warrior, took 2nd today as he did at both Hibernian & Cork, and he won the groups at both Newtownards and Munster Canine.

Sigrid Jarmer, a gundog specialist from Austria, judged Group 7, his winner being a first group for Jim & Karen Gibson’s homebred Weimaraner, Zilverein Shabby Chic, who took her first group honours the previous week at Cork where she was G 2nd. Mick& Cathy Cooper’s young Bracco Italiano, Sh Ch Primo Petruccio Jun Ch, who was G 2nd at CCC, took the same award here,handled expertly by Leanne Bermingham, one of Ireland’s top junior handlers.

Group 8 was also judged by Sigrid Jarmer, and she send on the eventual Reserve BIS winning Irish Water Spaniel, Joe Caulfield & Joanne Furlong’s Sh Ch & Int Sh Ch Fynder On Shifting Ground Jun Ch, whilst Elton Mackey’s Spanish Water Dog, Tigidas Estrella Del Mar, was 2nd. Ciara Byrne’s Golden Retriever.

Sofia Konderia from Poland judged Group 9 at Swords, her winner, Ashling Connolly’s Bichon Frise, Ch Ashmair Double Act, eventually going on to win BIS, with Eamon Keenan’s Lhasa Apso, Ch Heneva The Headliner for Keoma Jun Ch, taking his first group placing of the year with 2nd.

Rui Valente De Araujo from Portugal, who also judged Group 4, found his winner in his specialist breed when he gave the redrosette to Carla Bollard O’Callaghan’s Afghan Hound, Ch Ashahni Amir Jun Ch, his 5th group so far this year, having also triumphed at IKC, Newtownards, Hibernian, Munster Canine, and taken 2nd at South Tipp & Cork, taking him to top group 10 again this year to date. Gerry & Pauline Clarke’s Irish Wolfhound, homebred Ch Roxanne of Shantamon, who topped her breed in 2011, was in second place.

Lauren Coulter, one time Irish Junior Handler of the Year winner, judged the Junior Handling Classes at Swords. Winner of the 10 – 12 years was Catherine Broaders, handling her Wire fox Terrier. Catherine was also overall Best Junior Handler.
