Reserve Best Puppy in Show went to Kevin Croarkin and Damien St Ledger’s French Bulldog, Kesasonas Little Hank.

Heading up the terriers in Group 3 under terrier specialist Mick Gavin was James Byrnes’ Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Multi Ch Sandstaffs Inkberry Holly. In second place was Philip O’Brien and Jarka Poulova’s Kerry Blue Terrier, Ch Edbrios Exotica.

Romanian judge, Roxana Opris, judged the Dachshunds of Group 4 where her winner was Gerry McFaul’s Standard Long Haired, Ch Shardaroba’s Fashion Flow At Dachville, in second spot was Inez Pattison’s Wire Haired Kaninchen, Auchans Take That.

It was the RBIS winning Alaskan Malamute, Scarlett and Mark Burnside’s Ch, Int & Lux ChLibertia Reggae Master who topped Group 5 under Margaret O’Gorman, with second place awarded to Stephen Minogue’s Japanese Shiba Inu, Ch Jiltrain Jackpott.

Eamon Murray’s Beagle, Rossut Flagship, 16 months old ‘Skip’ going on to finish the day BIS 4, was Harry O’Donoghue’s choice in Group 6 with second place awarded to Barry O’Neill’s homebred Basset Hound, Knockogue Buccaneer.

Group 7 was judged by Dr Gyorgy Tesics from Hungary who awarded to spot to Tom and Annie Mervyn’s German Shorthaired Pointer, Sh Ch Tomanipoint Celtic Knight, ‘Rory’ then going on to finish BIS 3. Runner-up was Stuart and Heather Cummings’ Pointer, Sh Ch Kanix Kroner At Sevenhills.

Sean Carroll and James Newman’s Papillon, Multi BISS Ch Expana’s Sea Dragon Conqueror, the eventual BIS winner, was Finnish judge, Jussi Liimatainen’s Group 9 winner with second spot in this big group awarded to the Dutch visiting Chinese Crested, Pee’s Multi Ch Happy Dancing Techno Trance.

Heading up Group 10 under Lisbeth Campbell from Norway was the 2 year old homebred Irish Wolfhound, Petra Tomasovicova’s Latino Roan Inish, with in second place Pamela and Ryan Hunter’s 4 year old homebred Whippet, Ch Mossbawnhill Crowd Appeal.

The 13-14 years Junior class winner under Chris Hancock was Sarah Cushley, handling her grandmother’s Saluki, which she also handles to success in the breed. Sarah was runner-up in the Irish Handling finals last December.

Ireland’s Top Junior Handler, 2016, Scarlett Burnside, clinched more points towards qualifying for the 2017 Irish finals, when she won the 15 – 17 years class under Chris Hancock with her Pointer. Scarlett was starting an exciting weekend as she was to receive plaudits over both days for her triumph at Crufts the previous weekend when she won the International Junior Handling Finals.
