SOUTH TIPPERARY '13 BEST IN SHOW
Lyn Richardson was judging Best in Show at South Tipperary, and she gave the accolade to David and Jacqui Benson’s Bernese Mountain Dog, Ch & GB Ch Patrick De La Galea at Bernervalley. ‘Patrick, who took the CC at Crufts this year and had earlier won his International title under breed judge, José Tomás Delgado Cabezas, won his GB crown in just eight weeks, and was the breed’s Triple Crown winner in 2011. Reserve Best in Show was Colm and Rose Hastings’ Old English Sheepdog, American import Lambluv’s Sultry Secret, ‘Vikki’ also won the group at Portadown Ch Show and is currently Top Pastoral/Group 1 on the ICP/Red Mills Leaderboard. Danny O’Neill of sponsors, Happy Dog, is also pictured.

SOUTH TIPPERARY '13 CHAMPION STAKES
Judging all the stakes was that well known and popular lady, Joan Williamson, of Conneen Pembroke Corgi fame, her choice for the Champion Stakes was Hugh and Angela Jordan’s Kerry Blue, Ch Shillelagh Strike A Pose for Miculadh Jun Ch, and now qualified for the Champion of Champions finals hosted by Dublin Dog Show Society at the end of the year, and was also Group 3rd later in the day. Runner up here was the Cairns Dobermann, Ch Supeta’s Secret Wizard at Dronski, handled as ever by Josh Henderson.
SOUTH TIPPERARY '13 PUPPY STAKES
Joan Williamson's Puppy Stakes winner, from an excellent entry, was Séan Carroll and James Newman’s Pomeranian, Belliver Unexpected Destiny, now en route to the POTY next Easter while reserve was Paula Hamilton’s Boston Terrier, Havasu Sand Storm, bred by her Uncle, Ken Crockett. Stewart Carson represents sponsors, Happy Dog.
SOUTH TIPPERARY '13 JUNIOR STAKES
Junior Stakes winner at South Tipperary under Joan Williamson was the Old English Sheepdog, Joe Dempsey’s Bellablue Bewitched by Scallywag, handled by his wife, Pia. ‘Bubble’ was a POTY qualifier in 2012, having won the Puppy Stakes at Carlow last September, was third in the Petplan Junior Stakes at IKC CW, and has several reserve Green Stars. Runner up was Ann Moore’s homebred Dobermann Pinscher, Rozenyas Playin With Fire.

Jean McErlane from New Zealand, the next day’s BIS judge elect, judged Group and found her winner in Hastings’ latest American visitor, Old English Sheepdog Lambluv’s Sultry Secret, ‘Vikki’ en route to RBIS. Jerry Daly’s imported Aussie Shepherd boy ‘Blue’, Ch Silver Dream Aussie’s All My Life, bred by Judit Papp in Hungary, was Group 2nd, his first placement this year, though he had several group appearances last year when just a youngster.
SOUTH TIPPERARY '13 GROUP 2
Laura Campion, well known for her top winning Whitepoint Pembroke Corgis, was judge for Group 2, and winning here was David and Jacqui Benson’s Bernese Mountain Dog, Ch GB & Int Ch Patrick Dec La Galea at Bernervalley, on the penultimate step to winning his first all breeds BIS. Runner up was Willie and Mandy Dobbin’s BIS winning Newfoundland, Ch & GB Ch Brooklynbear Nijinsky, handled as ever by his biggest fan, William Dobbin (Junior), who has taken him to top awards both at home and across the water and here repeating his IKC Celtic Winners placing.
SOUTH TIPPERARY '13 GROUP 3
Con Nagle was back home from England to judge Group 3 and his winner was Sean and Eileen Knight’s Airedale Terrier, Ch Mynight Maid of the Mist, a first group win for this homebred bitch who finished BIS 3 today. Ross Delmar’s Smooth Fox Terrier kennel featured again, his Ch & Int Ch Shillelagh Smooth Operator Jun Ch, taking the 2nd rosette; ‘Balloo’ is a multi group and BIS winner.
SOUTH TIPPERARY '13 GROUP 4
Terry Carter judged all the Dachshunds and also the Group; a Canadian and all breeds judge her Group 4 winner was Joe and Mary Allen and Mary Dick’s Miniature Wire Haired male, Rodrigo Diervilla Jun Ch, taking the first group placing of his career, with Karen Weir’s Miniature Smooth Haired, D’Arisca Dark Dahlia of Ambreglo, also taking her first group spot, in 2nd place.
SOUTH TIPPERARY '13 GROUP 5
José Tomás Delgado Cabezas from Madrid was running the rule over the dogs of Group 5, his eventual winner being Maureen and Brian Carroll’s Keeshond, Ch & Int Ch Arctic Bees Best Kept Secret, another taking a first group placement this year, and taking 2nd place was Jennifer Garry’s New Zealand imported Samoyed, Beyond Continue the Chaos, who had earlier won BOB from Junior Bitch under Jean McErlane, coincidentally also a ‘Kiwi’.
SOUTH TIPPERARY '13 GROUP 6
Topping Group 6 under Canadian, Terry Carter, was Barry O’Neill and Sandra Stack’s homebred Basset Hound, Ch & GB Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, now a legend in his breed in Ireland with 15 groups and 2 BIS wins last year alone, some 6 or 7 CCs, Top Group 6 on the Leaderboard in 2012, and he’s back up there again with 4 groups from 6 shows in 2013. The Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, Afterglow Chunkey Monkey at Tejas, owned by Ivor and Michelle Keelan, took 2nd place.
SOUTH TIPPERARY '13 GROUP 7
Gundog specialist, Mrs P Williams from the UK judged a large proportion of the breeds in both group 7 and 8, and also officiated in the Group 7 ring where she found her winner in Tom and Ann Marie Mervyn’s German Shorthaired Pointer, Sh Ch Karlivar Dusky Rose at Tomanipoint, who finished BIS 4; Group winner at Banbridge last year, she was 2nd here last year and also at Bray & Carlow, and acquitted herself collecting CCs in GB on rare visits. Second here was Cathy Loughlin’s homebred Irish Setter, Rohanmor You Were Made For Me, owned in partnership with Katie Kelly, and currently top of the breed with his group placings this year.

Decision time in Group 8 was down to Portuguese judge, J H de Mello, and he chose for his winner the Labrador Retriever Ch, Sh CH & Int Ch Ballyhenry Hancourt Yeats Jun Ch, owned by Chris and Angela Hancourt. In second spot was Kerry Brennan’s English Springer Spaniel, Glenbrows Secret Agent for Kerrijoy Jun Ch, handled by her other half, Tommy.

Ferdinando Asnaghi from Italy for his Group 9 winner the Pekingese, Ch Moonwhispers Intrigue Fate, bred and owned by Gordon Gault and Henry Stanley, who handled him. Ashling Connolly’s Bichon Frise, ‘Beau’, her Ch & GB Ch Ashmair Double Act, took Group 2nd.
SOUTH TIPPERARY '13 GROUP 10
Kirsty Louhi from Finland judged the Sighthounds of Group 10 and she added further to the winning career of the Irish Wolfhound, Willie and Joanne Mullen’s homebred dog, Ch Broughadowey Tir Eoghain Jun Ch. In 2nd place, another big winner, Carla Bollard O’Callaghan’s Afghan, Crufts BOB & Group 3 last year, Ch & GB Ch Ashahni Amir, multi BIS winner and top Afghan for the past three years.
SOUTH TIPPERARY '13 Junior Handling 10 – 12 years
Annette Ryan judged the Junior Handling classes at South Tipperary, and her winner in the 10 – 12 years class was Catherine Broaders, handling the family’s Wire Haired Fox Terrier, and a regular winner in this age class.
SOUTH TIPPERARY '13 Junior Handling 13 – 14 years
Winner of the 13 – 14 years Junior Handling under Annette Ryan was Emer Wright, another up and coming young handler.
SOUTH TIPPERARY '13 Junior Handling 15 – 17 years
Nadine Bermingham was Ireland’s Junior Handler of the Year in 2012 and she is still of an age to compete, this time in the 15 – 17 years class under Annette Ryan, which she won handling her regular charge, the family owned Tibetan Spaniel.
