SOUTH TIPPERARY '12 BEST IN SHOW
Sean Knight of the Mynight Airedales was the BIS judge and his eventual winner was a delighted Aidan McKiernan with his English Setter, Sh Ch Richecca Reach For The Skye. Just turned 7 years old, ‘Bailey’ is a regular in Group 7, with four placings so far this year from the five shows we have had. Group 3rd at IKC Celtic Winners, he won the group at the Combined International at Easter, took Group 4th at Fermoy, and today, his second group and now BIS, a great achievement for ‘Bailey’ who is currently Top Group 7 on the ICP Leaderboard and who went on to take his 1st CC at SKC a few weeks later. Reserve to ‘Bailey’ was the Wire Fox Terrier, Blackdale Supreme, owned and bred by Harry O’Donoghue. ‘Rick’ has already taken 2 BIS wins, late last year at Cloghran Ch show where he also won the Puppy Stakes, and following on at DDSS at Christmas with his second BIS in succession.

South Tipperary’s Best Baby Puppy in Show was judged by the BIS judge, Sean Knight, and he found his winner in Pamela and Ryan Hunter’s 4 months old Whippet, bitch puppy, Mossbawnhill How Bout I Be Me; today was ‘Ember’s’ second show. Runner up was June & Andy Cairns’ Dobermann, Dronskoi’s Adonis, handled by Josh Henderson.

SOUTH TIPPERARY '12 CHAMPION STAKES
Champion Stakes with 41 competing under Vincent O’Brien saw victory for Clodagh Fallon’s homebred Pug, Ch Clodana Serenity Belle Jun Ch; ’Bella’, who celebrated her 2nd birthday just two days earlier, was Annual Champion last year and was Group 2nd at Limerick last August. Runner up was Triona Ní Shé’s Dobermann, Ch Farentino Wot A Thriller at Ruholfia Jun Ch, who has been successful on trips abroad as well as on home ground.

Vincent O’Brien judged all the Stakes classes, and first in Puppy Stakes from 49 entries was the yellow Labrador Retriever, Philipstown Imelda May, just 7 months old, homebred by Mary and Martin O’Donoghue; she had won the Puppy Bitch Class at the Lab Club of N I Ch Show on her Ch debut and was handled by Martin.. Runner-up was William Totton’s Lhasa Apso, Fabiana Party Rocker; ‘Joe’ also homebred, was on his first weekend out.

SOUTH TIPPERARY '12 VETERAN STAKES
Lyn Appleby, John Minchin and Jane Edwards’ Afghan Hound, Ch Kazdanabad Karlo Rossi, piloted as usual by Mary Mulvaney, took more points for the ICP/Royal Canin Veteran Leaderboard under Vincent O’Brien, with victory in the Veteran Stakes. Second place went Ger and Mary Hickey’s Finnish Spitz, Ch Kilconnell Cheekie Tovorla.

Vincent O’Brien also judged the Brace Stakes, and his winners were the Giant Schnauzer duo ‘Sev’ and ‘George’ owned by Angela Willis and handled by daughter, Emma. Half brother and sister, Jannem Munire and Ch Jannem Boy George, also won at Banbridge just a few weeks ago.

American judge, Mrs J Turnage-Nahikian, judged group 1, awarding top honours to David McKenna’s Bouvier Des Flandres, Ch Nikolaev Diamond at Davdeir, a former POTY qualifier and a group regular, with 2nd place to Paul, Jean and Kelly Lawless Schipperke, GB Ch Monterrez Jingle Belle for Hantreved, G4 the previous day.

Diogo Ramalho from Portugal judged Group 2 where his winner was the Rottweiler, Lucian Sturza’s Rom & Bul Ch Gana Von Bel Mondo Jun Ch, handled by David Gaffney but pictured with Lucien. This was his first group placing. In second place was Ann and Austin Long Doyle’s St Bernard Long Haired, Ch Il Divo Roly by Longsdyle Jun Ch.

Topping Group 3 under Jesus Pastor from Spain, known for his Alborada Westies, and he sent through the eventual RBIS winning Wire Fox, Harry O’Donoghue’s Blackdale Supreme, with runner-up to Marion and Roy Gregg’s young Airedale bitch, Bambusa Dream Model, who later in the month was the BCC winner at SKC.
SOUTH TIPPERARY '12 GROUP 4
Judging Group 4 was Breed specialist, Margaret Turner from GB, judged Group 4, and here Gerry McFaul was victorious with his homebred Long Haired bitch, Dachville Classical Blend; ‘Cassie’ having recently won her first CC at the Long Haired Dachshund Club Show. Peter Wheatland handled his Smooth Haired Kaninchen, Pinedax Millie Two Shoes, to take G.2nd.
SOUTH TIPPERARY '12 GROUP 5
Diogo Ramalho also judged Group 5, where his winner was Maureen and Brian Carroll’s Keeshond, Scandinavian import, Ch Arctic Kees Best Kept Secret, 3rd Top Group 5 last year, with James Newman’s Pomeranian, Ch & GB Ch Belliver The Ultimate Creation, runner-up IKC Dog of the Year 2011, in the runner-up spot.

Alex McKinlay judged Group 6, finding his winner in Gwen Huikeshoven’s Tarmachan Albanwr, the Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen, bred by Fiona Buchanan and partner M McLaren, and handled by Fiona to a first group placing. In second place was Danny Gamble’s Dalmatian, Cannabee Commander at Mullaboy.

Wendy Bentley, judged Group 7 and her winner’s rosette went to the BIS winning English Setter, Aidan McKiernan’ Sh Ch Richecca Reach For The Skye. Tom and Annie Mervyn’s German Short Haired Pointer, Sh Ch Karliver Dusky Rose, Group winner at Banbridge, was Group 2nd handled by Tom.

Mr S Pereira’s winner in Group 8 was the Irish Water Spaniel, Joe Caulfield and Joanne Furlong’s multi group & BIS winning Sh Ch CIE Fynder On Shifting Ground, joint top 3rd in the group last year, with the Harvey & Merill partnership’s Labrador Retriever, Gostwyck I Spy Linjor, handled by Sue Merrill in second spot.

New Zealander Pam Douglas officiated Group 9 where her winner was George and daughter, Georgina Corneille’s Finnish bred Tibetan Terrier, Ch Falamandus New Name for Lilasong Jun Ch; a first group win for this dog handled by George on the day. Florence Fahy’s Lhasa Apso, Ch Kutani Replay Bentarsna, owned in partnership with Joe Shire, took second place.

Alex McKinlay’s was in charge of Group 10, choosing the Borzoi, Lorraine Harvey’s Albaneiler The Mabinogion, for his winner. Carla Bollard O’Callaghan’s dual CC winning Afghan Hound, Ch Ashahni Amir, who was BIS here last year, took Group 2nd.
