SLIGO '13 BEST IN SHOW
Henry Stanley, himself a Poodle aficionado under the Heneva prefix was the judge for Best In Show. His pick after shortlisting the group to the final four was Ann Ingram and Kay Ryan’s Toy Poodle, Tirkane The Big Issue handled by Ann. ‘Isak’, who is still only 11 months old, and won today from puppy. Reserve BIS was the Kerry Blue, Harold Quigg and Ron Ramsey’s GB Ch Torums Calico Jack at Irisblu, Best in Show at Swords in June and Bray just a couple of weeks back. Three CCs at Club shows clinched his GB title in short time.

Best Baby Puppy in Show under BIS judge Henry Stanley, was the Pug, Clodagh Fallon’s homebred Clodana Bilbobaggins, handled on this occasion by Ashling Connolly, with the runner–up placing to the Finlay and Harkin partnership’s French Bulldog, Lereveur Beau Cadeau.
SLIGO '13 CHAMPION STAKES
The Champion Stakes was also judged by Lyn Richardson, and she found her winner in the Bernese Mountain Dog, David and Jacquie Benson’s Ch & GB Ch Patrick De La Galea at Bernervalley; CC winner at Crufts, Patrick took Best is Show recently at both South Tipperary and Irish Ladies Kennel Association, and now goes forward to the Champion of Champions Finals in December. Runner-up here was the Miniature Pinscher, M J Paulsen’s Nor Ch Tangetoppens Princess Leiea Organa.

Topping the Puppy Stakes at Sligo under stakes judge, Lyn Richardson, was the Whippet, Demerlay Plumcreek Whitney, owned by Albert Ritchie and granddaughter, Danielle Ritchie Smith, now heading for the CCC POTY finals next Easter.

Winning the Veteran Stakes under Lyn Richardson, was the Basenji, Allies’ Bubas Mariella at Alys, handled by breeder, Jane Gostynska, with the Whippet, Lynda and Colin Matthews’ Ch GB & Int Ch Collooney He’s The One, runner-up.

Winning Group 1 under Iriana Poletaeva from Finland was Clare Burnett’s 15 months old Bouvier Des Flandres, Mon Cher Taurus Jun Ch, with Grenville Francis’ Rough Collie, Ileyda Satin Lace of Peblu, in second spot.

John Francis’ Boxer Rathbride Final Fantasy, won Group 2 under Italian judge, Dr Orieta Zilli. Runner up was the Bulldog, McCallon’s Chelseapride Makalele, putting on a great performance despite the heat.

John R Walsh was ring centre for Group 3 where his winner was the eventual Reserve BIS winning Kerry Blue, Harold Quigg and Ron Ramsay’s Ch & GB Ch Torums Calico Jack at Irisblu; 2nd was Ross Delmar’s multi group and BIS winning Smooth Fox Terrier, Ch & Int Ch Shillelagh Smooth Operator, keeping him at the top of the group Leaderboard to date.

Finnish judge, Perttu Stahlberg, was in charge of The Dachshund in Group 4 where his winner emerged as Caroline Reynolds’ Miniature Smooth, Ch Donnadoon Silver Dollar; runner-up spot went to Julie and Anthony Emerson’s 18 months old Smooth Haired, Pachego Dark And Destructive.

Heading up Group 5 under Dr Mike Tempest, world renown for his Tibetan Terriers, was Sean Carroll and James Newman’s Pomeranian, Ch, GB & Int Ch Belliver The Ultimate Creation, ‘Victoria’ RBIS at Deise; runner-up under Mike was another top winner, Jimmy Duggan’s Siberian Husky, Ch & Int Ch Bedarra Cold Paws Warm Heart For Leorient, handled on this occasion by Josh Henderson, BIS this year at Hibernian.

It was group number eleven this year for Barry O’Neill’s Basset Hound, Ch & GB Ch Knockogue Arthur’s Legacy, this time under Anita Foley-Duggan, whose choice for second place fell to Eddie and Gail Patterson’s Rhodesian Ridgeback, Ch Rocksham Kimweri.

Wim Wellens from the Netherlands was centre stage for Group 7, finding his winner in Tom and Annie Mervyn’s G.S.H.P. Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Karlivar Dusky Rose At Tomanipoint, ‘Lucy’ continuing her great run with BIS 4 later in the day; runner-up was Morag and David Connolly’s Weimaraner, Sh Ch Zilverein Got Me Mojo At Huntly.

Wim Wellens also judged Group 8 where he selected Monica and Mags Boardman’s American Cocker Spaniel, Am Sh Ch Portsann Loves To Party, a first group win for the American import; runner –up was Liam and Brian Moran’s Golden Retriever, Sh Ch Woodmore Ringo Starr.

Paul Lawless, well known for the family’s Revloch team of winners, was judge elect for Group 9 where his winner was the eventual Best in Show winner, Ann Ingram and Kay Ryan’s Toy Poodle, Tirkane The Big Issue, with Eamon Keenan’s Lhasa Apso, Heneva Raising The Bets, group winner at Bray two weeks earlier, filling the runner-up spot.
SLIGO '13 GROUP 10
Dr Orietta Zilli also judged Group 10, sending forward the Whippet, Lynda Matthews, Stephen Thomas and Don Foran’s Ailesbury Silver Lace, who then went on to BIS 3; in second place was Emer Mooney’s top winning Deerhound, Ch Rosslyn Quartet, the BIS winner at the Hound Show in May.
