The Toy Poodle, Ch & GB Ch Tirkane The Big Issue, owned by the International partnership of breeders Ann Ingram and Kay Ryan, with Marlies Morzik from Germany and Leanne Bryant and Lisa Nelson from England, who came through to win. ‘Izak’ is also the ‘Irish Kennel Club Dog of the Year’ by virtue of his fantastic wins throughout 2014, which included no fewer than 6 all breeds Best in Show wins.

TOP IRISH SHOWDOG '14 GROUP 2 WINNER
Group 2 saw just three dogs catalogued and Paul Scanlon and Ashling Connolly’s Miniature Schnauzer, Ch Nujax Johnny Cash, who ‘cashed in’ and took the group win. TOP IRISH SHOWDOG '14 GROUP 3 WINNER
Group 3 and once again three dogs in the line-up; Richard Dalton, Philip O’Brien and Jarka Poulova’s Kerry Blue Terrier, Ch Dalstar Il Divo, finished topping the Group and went on to complete the night in the Runner-up spot. Philip handled him on the night and they are seen here with Richard, committee member John O’Hanlon, Manuel Borges, and Séan Delmar. Divo also took home the Gerry Sweeney Perpetual Trophy for Best Terrier, in memory of the much missed Gerry Sweeney, who put so much into this competition many years ago.

Group 5 saw the Keeshond clinch her section from the three present; Liz Wogan’s Ch & GB Ch Neradmik Uptown Girl Deminiac, was handled on the night by Kelly Lawless, as Liz was out of commission due to a foot injury. After the Group winners were decided, it was time for a break during which presentations were made to the Top 2014 dogs from the various disciplines within our sport and also our 2014 Junior Handler of the Year, who is invited along for the evening. Here IKC President, Séan Delmar makes a presentation to Nadine Bermingham, who will represent Ireland for the second year in succession at the International Handling Finals at Crufts.

For a phenomenal 24th year, Pat O’Boyle collected the trophy from Séan Delmar for Top Obedience dog, this year again with her Border Collie OB Ch Sunndach Swirlings Silica, the most recent in a long line of top winning dogs trained and campaigned by Pat.
