Best in Show under judge Simon Rooney was Ralph Dunne’s Clumber Spaniel, Sh Ch Richley Royale Bond, 2 year old ‘Eldridge’ following on from Reserve BIS at the end of last year at Dublin DSS at Christmas and adding to group wins at Hibernian where he was BIS 3, Kilkenny, IKC Summer show and Bull Breeds.. Reserve BIS was the Alaskan Malamute, Ch, Int & Lux Ch Libertia Reggae Master, 5 year old ‘Marley’ is owned and handled by Scarlett Burnside in partnership with Mark Burnside.

Topping the Puppy Stakes and qualifying for the POTY final next Easter was Paul, Jean and Kelly Lawless’ BSD Groenendael, Revloch Lady In Red, 10 months old ‘Lisa’ also winning her first Green Star today. Taking second place under Catherine Rooney was Gillian Matthews’ Shih Tzu, Shihdances Georgio Regale At Virtualvilage, 11 months old ‘George’ also a GS winner today.

Catherine Rooney judged the Champion Stakes and her winner was Sally Burns, Mary Coghlan and Lesley Howard’s Toy Poodle, Ch Grayco Splash The Cash. Runner-up was Stephanie and Fiona Robertson and Steve O’Brien’s Whippet, Ch Sheol Golden Child.

Sally Tonks and Dione Fitsimons’ Pyrenean Mountain Dog, Ch, GB & Int Ch Shanlimore The Maverick, handled by Howard Tonks, won the Veteran Stakes at Portadown under Catherine Rooney; 10 year old ‘Darcy’ the ROYAL CANIN/Irish Canine Press Veteran Leaderboard winner 2015. Pamela and Ryan Hunter’s Whippet, Ch, GB & Int Ch Mossbawnhill It’s All About Me, runner-up on last year’s Leaderboard, was in second place

Topping Group 1 under José Vidal Montero, from Spain, was the Shetland Sheepdog, Emilio Castillo and Patrick Fortune’s Canadian import, Ch, Can & Lux Ch Grandgables Romantico, ‘Tica’ en route to BIS 3, with the runner-up spot going to the Pembroke Corgi, Alan and Sarah Matthews’ Ch GB & Int Ch Craigycor Viva La Diva.

Alan Martin, Chairman of the Banbridge Club, judged Group 2 and he found his winner in the Dobermann Pinscher, Dione Fitzsimons’ Ch Fitzkin Has It, 4 year old ‘Reiko’ with several group placings last year. Barbara Evans’ Giant Schnauzer, Silbertraum Silver Flame won a first group placing, taking the 2nd rosette; ‘Sorcha’ handled as usual by Lauren Whan.

Jos Decuyper from Belgium judged Group 3, and his winner was the Cairn Terrier, Leanne Alexander’s 2 years old Stirlingview Shake The Dice. The Kerry Blue, Cathy Neill and daughter, Grace Collins-Neill’s, Kebulak Womaniser, was 2nd handled by Cathy.

José Vidal Montero judged the Dachshunds of Group 4 and his winner gave Karen Weir’s Smooth Haired Kaninchen Ch Magik Rainbow Gloria, yet more points on the Leaderboard and finished BIS 4 today. Esther Moore’s Miniature Long Haired, Rickanndach Total Eclipse, was runner-up.

Michael Forte, one of Ireland’s best known all breeds judges, was selecting the best in Group 5 and chose for the top spot the Alaskan Malamute, Scarlett and Mark Burnside’s Ch, Lux & Int Ch Libertia Reggae Master, who finished Reserve Best in Show. Liz Wogan’s Keeshond, Ch & GB Ch Neradmik Uptown Girl Deminiac, was in 2nd place.

Group 6 judge Michael Leonard, also well known Internationally, picked Ireland’s top Basset Hound, Barry O’Neill’s multi group and BIS winning Ch, GB & Int Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, Top Group 6 again in 2015 on the GAIN/Irish Canine Press/Dog World Leaderboard, with second place to the Griffon Fauve de Bretagne, Jan Oliver’s Ch Bogart Humphrey, handled by Colin Johnston.

Nina Karlsdotter judged Group 7 and her winner was the Weimaraner, Stephen Kennedy’s Sh Ch Zilverein Straight No Chazer, Annual Champion for the last two years, while Diane Stewart-Ritchie’s homebred Irish Setter, Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Gwendariff Whippersnapper, was second.

Topping Group 8 was the eventual Best in Show winning Clumber Spaniel, Ralph Dunne’s ‘Eldridge’, Sh Ch Richley Royale Bond, selected by Jose Vidal Montero, with Heather Arrell and breeder Laura Huston’s Cocker Spaniel, Sh Ch Hustonia Adonis in 2nd place.

Alec Henry judged Group 9 and his winner was the Standard Poodle, Ch Dinastii The Libertine, owned in partnership by Sally and Sean Burns with Mary and Val Coghlan, and handled by Sean. ‘Bert’ was Group winner last year at Deise, and this year took BIS at the Irish Kennel Club’s Celtic Winners International Ch Show. Karen Black’s Maltese, Mion Sweet Love, took a first group placing with the second rosette.

Michael Leonard judged Group 10 and his winner was the Irish Wolfhound, Gerry and Pauline Clarke’s homebred Ch Lady Rose of Shantamon, piloted, as ever, by Gerry. Danielle Ritchie-Smith handled her Whippet, Oakbark My Miracle for Gwendariff to take second place.
