For her winner, she chose the Papillon, Sean Carroll and James Newman’s Ch, GB, Ger, Cz & Int Ch Hundebuden’s Juno Pondabudens, handled by James. RBIS was Bill Warke’s Longhaired Dachshund Ch Glasvey Hurricane Run, handled by Gerry McFaul.

MONKSTOWN '16 PUPPY STAKES
Angela Hancock was the stakes judge and her Puppy Stakes winner and Irish Pup of the Year qualifier was Ashling Connolly’s eight-month-old Bichon Frisé bitch Ashmair Double Trouble. Runner-up was June Wall and Noel Beggs’ 11-month-old French Bulldog Khalasar Hear Me Roar.

Angela Hancock’s Champion Stakes winner was Brian and Maureen Carroll’s Keeshond Ch & Int Ch Lyntova Legend Has It. Niamh and Dave Callaghan’s Labrador Retriever Sh Ch Claychalk Costa Zaire Of Bannabeach took second place.

Topping the Veteran Stakes under Angela Hancock was Trudy Walsh’s Irish Setter Sh Ch Ardbraccan Obsession, with the runner-up slot taken by Carla Bollard O’Callaghan’s Afghan Hound Ch, GB & Int Ch Ashahni Amir.

MONKSTOWN '16 BRACE STAKES
Heading the Brace Stakes again was Robby van Wensveen and Barbera Hurley’s Whippet team of Alafrique Captain Conan and Barnesmore Flashman, while Lindsay Belcher’s Italian Spinone pairing of Hastabbi Tropicana At Sosteli and Sh Ch & Int Sh Ch Netis Rock With You At Sosteli took second place.

Angela McNally’s Group 1 winner was David and Morag Connolly’s Border Collie Nahrof Blurred Lines At Huntly. Runner-up was Austin and Ann Long Doyle’s Pumi Ch Pumidoro Splinter At Longsdyle.

Topping Group 2 under Susan Kealy was Austin and Ann Long Doyle’s Longhaired St Bernard Ch, Int & Lux Ch Il Divo Roly By Longsdyle. In second place was David and Jackie Benson’s Bernese Mountain Dog Ch Tickbern Still On Top at Bernervalley.

Making her debut in the Terrier Group ring, Lynda Cuthbert Matthews’ Group 3 winner was Clifford, Christopher and Eileen Aiken’s Scottish Terrier Ch Lomondview Cappuccino at Slievecroob. Runner-up was Ross Delmar and Ewa Lunden’s Smooth Fox Terrier Ch/Multi Ch Residensets Stand-In and heading the Gain Petfoods/Irish Canine Press Group 3 Leaderboard.

Breed specialist Gerry Larkin judged the Dachshund Group 4, sending through Bill Warke’s Long Ch Glasvey Hurricane Run, handled by Gerry McFaul, en route to RBIS. Runner-up was Karen Weir’s Kaninchen Smooth Dutch Ch Zimerbude Yantarnaya Kapelka.

Olive Taylor’s Chow Ch Chivas Royal Djalo At Taylorian was John Bond’s Group 5 winner. John’s second place rosette was awarded to Rebecca Clarke’s German Spitz Mittel Ch Icemist Showdancer.

It was yet another group victory in Group 6 for Barry O’Neill’s Basset Hound Ch, GB & Int Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, this time under Don Foran whose runner-up was Eamon Murray’s Beagle Annavah Leonardo De Vinci.

Eddie Patterson’s Group 7 winner was Tom and Annie Mervyn’s German Shorthaired Pointer Sh Ch Tomanipoint Celtic Knight, the eventual BIS4, with runner-up to Stuart and Heather Cummings’ Pointer Sh Ch Kanix Kroner At Sevenhills.

Ralph Dunne’s Clumber Spaniel Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Richley Royale Bond, the BIS3 winner, was Joyce Ruigrok’s choice for Group 8 with second place going to Trish O’Connor’s Cocker Spaniel Hustonia Biagio, handled by Cheryl Donaldson.

It was Irish all-breeds judge Ann Cuthbert, judging Group 9, who sent through the BIS-winning Papillon, James Newman and Sean Carroll’s Ch, GB, Ger, Cz & Int Ch Hundebuden’s Juno Pondabudens, with the runner-up spot taken by Sally and Sean Burns and Mary and Val Coghlan’s Standard Poodle Ch Dinasti The Libertine Afterglow.

Gail Patterson judged Group 10 which saw victory for Kate Harbinson’s Saluki Ch Ulmarra Moet And Chandon, handled by junior handler Sarah Cushley. Runner-up was Felicity Thompson’s Greyhound Jasmine At Barnesmore Des Legendes Du Moyen Age.

Daniella Ritchie Smith has just this year moved up to the 15 – 17 years Junior Handling Class, and today continued her winning run under Angela Hancock, and well as having success in the showring with her Whippets and Australian Silky Terrier.

Angela Hancock judged all the Junior Handling Classes and her 13 – 14 years class was a good start to the day for her winner, Sarah Cushley, handling the Saluki that she eventually handled later to win Group 10.
