Dan Ericsson, from Sweden, well known for his Raglan Scottish Terriers; judged Best in Show where his winner was Alan and Sarah Matthews’ Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Ch & GB Ch Craigycor Viva La Diva; at 4 years of age, ‘Erin’ making a successful return to the ring. Reserve Best in Show went to to Gerry and Pauline Clarke’s Irish Wolfhound, Ch & Int Ch Roxanne Of Shantamom, three year old homebred ‘Dusty’ will travel to USA representing Ireland at the Eukanuba Challenge having won the IKC Top Showdog Final back in February.

MONKSTOWN '13 BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW
Paul Scanlon, so well known on the Irish show scene and further afield, was the judge for Best Baby Puppy in Show and the Stakes classes. Best Baby Puppy in Show was the Lakeland Terrier, Kebulak Lady Madonna Of Brookside, owned by the Broaders family and handled by young Catherine Broaders, with Darren Walker handling his and wife, Elaine’s homebred Alaskan Malamute, Lueldar McGrath Trailblazer, to RBBPIS.

Paul Scanlon’s Fosse Data Ireland Champion Stakes winner was Triona Ni She’s Dobermann Pinscher, Ch, GB Ch, Nl & Int Ch Farentino Wot A Thriller At Ruholfia, as his titles testify, a big winner both at home and further afield; in second spot was Sharon O’Brien’s Tibetan Spaniel, Ch & GB Ch Rosanley The Adonis At Torfness, ‘Buddy’.
MONKSTOWN '13 PUPPY STAKES
Paul Scanlon’s Puppy Stakes winner was ‘Frazier’ Bernie Allen & Ollie O’Connor’s Cannonbear Smokin Joe, the six months old American Akita, booking his ticket for the POTY Final next Easter; in second place was Lynda & Colin Matthews’ Whippet, Mossbawnhill In Hot Persuit.
MONKSTOWN '13 BEST IN SHOW
Paul Scanlon’s choice in the Veteran Stakes fell to Catherine Broaders with the family’s Wire Fox Terrier, Ch Crystalwire Solo Of Brookside, with Una Rigney’s Kerry Blue Terrier, Ch & GB Ch Misty Blue Dawn At Arigna in the runner-up spot.
MONKSTOWN '13 BRACE STAKES
Heading up the Brace Stakes under Paul Scanlon, and taking another rosette at the show, was the pairing of Italian Spinone, Lindsay Belcher’s Sh Ch Netis Rock With You Sosteli and Sh Ch & Int Sh Ch Sosteli Santana.

It was Dan Ericsson who judged Group 1, putting through Alan and Sarah Matthews’ Welsh Pembroke Corgi, Ch, GB & Int Ch Craigycor Viva La Diva, ‘Erin’ impressing him so much that he later awarded her Best in Show. Dan’s runner-up was Colm and Rose Hastings’ Old English Sheepdog, Ch Lambluvs Sultry Secret.

Billy Henderson, so well used to success in Group 2 as a breeder and exhibitor, judged Group 2 finding his winner in Adele Kerrisk’s Shar Pei, Ch & Int Ch Chuanfa Compact At Qing Iverna, who then went on to BIS 3, with Willie and Mandy Dobbin’s Newfoundland, Ch & GB Ch Brooklynbear Nijinsky, handled as always by William Jnr.

Danish judge, Lilian Lleton, judged Group 3 where her winner was Melanie Corcoran’s Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Crufts winning Ch & GB Ch Zakstaff What’s The Story At Molru, with in second place, Sean Knight’s Airedale Terrier, Ch Mynight Maid of The Mist.

All the Dachshunds in Group 4, were judged by Finnish judge, Raija whose winner was Christine Bastable’s Miniature Smooth, Chrishanes Maxwell Edison MD, 13 months old ‘Bertram’ following up his group win at ILKA with in second place Mary & Joe Allan and Mary Dick’s Wire Haired Kaninchen, Auchans Come And Get Me Too, another youngster, 14 months old.

Dan Ericsson also judged Group 5, finding his winner in Iris Handcock’s Samoyed, Ch & Int Ch Sirinna Storm In The Night, ‘Storm’ handled today by Sue Holmes, with James Duggan’s Siberian Husky, Ch & Int Ch Bedarra Cold Paws Warm Heart For Leorient, taking second spot; ‘Flint’ the BIS winner at Hibernian, going on the following weekend to take his 3rd CC and GB crown at Bournemouth.

Group 6 was officiated by Zita Fogarty,who awarded top honours to Ivor and Michelle Keelan’s Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, Ch Afterglow Chunkey Monkey At Tejas, a first group victory for 20 months old ‘Bruno’ after 4 second spots this year. with Barry O’Neill’s top winning Basset Hound, Ch & GB Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, the runaway leader at the top of the ICP/Connolly’s Red Mills Leaderboard after 11 group wins so far this year, taking the runner-up position.

Peter Berchtoldfrom Austria judged group 7, finding his victor in Eddie Smith’s Italian Spinone, Sh Ch Bannonbrig Lady May At Flintlock. Peter’s second place went to Cathy Loughlin’s BIS winning Irish Setter, Sh Ch, GB Sh Ch & Int Sh Ch Rohanmor My Blue Heaven.

Ned Burke replaced Mr H Kleeman to judge Group 8 where his winner was Beattie, McCarry-Bearrie, Price & Pilgrim’s American Cocker Spaniel, Billymac Jaxson, handled by Colm Beattie. Runner-up spot went to Mairead Cummins’ Golden Retriever, Cummac Mojito.

Maltese judge, Harry Vella, was centre ring for Group 9, selecting Ashling Connolly’s Bichon Frise, Ch & GB Ch Ashmair Double Act as his winner, ‘Beau’ going on to BIS 4; Gordon Gault and Henry Stanley’s Pekingese, Ch & Int Ch Moonwhispers Intrigue Fate, was in second place,

In charge of Group 10 was Peter Berchtold whose winner was the Irish Wolfhound, Gerry and Pauline Clarke’s Ch & Int Ch Roxanne Of Shantamon, en route to Reserve Best in Show; Maureen Wade’s Italian Greyhound, Ch Turginer Wind In The Willows, ‘Willow’ the Bitch CC winner at Crufts this year was in second place.
Dun Laoghaire '13 Top Table
Dun Laoghaire always have a ‘top table’ at the BIS ring for the judges to watch all the groups and former IKC GPC Chairman, Brian O’Hara and wife, Diane, joined them to watch BIS.
Bichon Breeds '13 Group BIS
The Bichon Club of Ireland held a four breeds championship show in conjunction with Dun Laoghaire, judged by Ashling Connolly of Ashmair Bichon fame. Ashling selected a ‘Best Overall’, chosing to give the rosette to Catherine Black, for her Maltese, Ch Mion Bitter Sweet, and the runner up to the puppy, Anita Fogarty’s Bolognese Bounien Gents Prefer Blondes at Vauboyen.
Maltese Club '13 Best In Show
The Maltese Club also held their Championship show here and at the end of all the judging, Ashling Connolly also judged this show, Ashling's winner was Catherine Black's, Maltese, Ch Mion Bitter Sweet.
