Ronnie Irving’s Champion Stakes winner, qualifying for the Champion of Champions finals, was Eamon Keenan’s Lhasa Apso, Ch Heneva The Headliner For Keoma, 3 year old ‘Cody’ recently group runner-up at Swords Ch show, with in second place, Ross Delmar’s Smooth Fox Terrier, Ch Shillelagh Vasco De Gamma, handled by mum Cathy.

MONKSTOWN '12 VETERAN STAKES
Keeping up the pressure at the top of the ICP/ROYAL CANIN Veteran Leaderboard was Eamon and Ann White’s BSD Tervueren, Ch Revloch Ready Teddy Go To Whitandon, ‘Lennox’ the joint winner last year in this tightly contested competition with victory in the Veteran Stakes under Ronnie Irving. Runner-up was Veronica Coutts’ Wire Fox Terrier, Laural Boy, fourth last year overall.

Topping the Brace Stakes under Ronnie Irving were Anna Gilmartin’s West Highland White Terriers, Loughallen Ca-Noosty Cutie and Loughallen Orka Dazzler.

Heading up Group 1 under Marion Campbell was Colm and Rose Hastings’ OES, Ch, Am Ch & Int Ch Lambluvs Live The Dream, the eventual BIS 3 winner later in the day, with runner up spot going to Scott’s Shetland Sheepdog, Ch Degallo The Real Deal, handled by Patrick Fortune.

Jerry Daly judged Group 2, finding his winner in Fiona Carr’s Boxer, Boxcaton Solo Flight, a first group success for this 2 year old, with in second place Andrea Cleary’s Rottweiler, Ch Cuchulain The Brave, fresh from his CC, BOB and Group 2 win at Leeds, both dogs coming through their respective breeds under UK judge, Jeff Luscott.

Topping the Terriers in Group 3 under Philip Behan was Ross Delmar’s Smooth Fox Terrier, Ch Shillelagh Vasco De Gama, handled on this occasion by mum Cathy as Ross was on judging duty overseas. Runner-up was awarded to John Weatherhead’s Kerry Blue Terrier, Hallsblu Fibber Magee, only 8 months old but another in a long line of winners from this very successful kennel.

Christine Bastable had judged all the Dachshunds and it was Harry O’Donoghue judging the Group, with his winner being Gerry McFaul’s Standard Long Haired, Ch & GB Ch Dachville Blend, ‘Jill’ so successful both at home and across the water where she recently took her 8th CC; Harry’s runner-up spot was occupied by David Walsh’s Miniature Long, Ch & GB Ch Walpines Brandy Cream.

Philip Behan also judged Group 5, sending through the eventual BIS winner, Jimmy Duggan’s Siberian Husky, Ch Bedarra Cold Paws Warm Heart For Leorient, handled by wife Anita, with runner-up rosette going to James Newman’s Pomeranian, the multi BIS winning Ch, GB & Int Ch Belliver The Ultimate Creation.

Harry O’Donoghue’s winner in Group 6 was Barry O’Neill and Sandra Stack’s Basset Hound, Ch & GB Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, recently BIS at Kilkenny to follow on from his similar success at Hibernian Ch show in May. Runner-up under Harry was Eamon Murray’s Beagle, Ch Heathergrove Persian Warrior, group winner the previous week at Dundalk, ‘Tyler’ and ‘Arthur’ continuing their epic battle at the top of the ICP/Connolly’s RED MILLS Leaderboard.

Danish judge, Erling Kjaer Pedersen was centre ring for Group 7 where his winner was Morag and David Connolly’s Weimaraner, Sh Ch Zilverein Got Me Mojo At Huntly, the RBIS winner at the IKC Celtic Winners show in March, with runner-up spot going to Catherine Kelly’s BIS winning Hungarian Vizsla, Sh Ch & Lux Ch Risley Mark The Moment, handled by Jane Anthony.

Bernie Ladd was judge elect for Group 8, sending through the eventual RBIS winner, Joe Caulfield and Joanne Furlong’s Irish Water Spaniel, Sh Ch & Int Ch Fynder On Shifting Ground, with Michelle Knapp’s English Springer Spaniel, Sh Ch Calvadale Carte Blanche, taking second place.

Susan Kealy judged Group 9, finding her winner in James Newman’s Papillon, Ch, GB, Ger, Slov & Int Ch Denemore Iconsruben, last year’s IKC Dog of the Year, and today winning his 7th group in the current campaign of 2012, with BIS success at Combined Canine International; runner-up in this very competitive group was awarded to Ashling Connolly’s Bichon Frise, Ch Ashmair Double Act, the POTY winner at Easter and BIS winner at Swords Ch show in June.

Harry O’Donoghue also judged the sighthounds of Group 10, where his winner was the eventual BIS 4 winner, Lynda Cuthbert Matthews and husband Colin’s Whippet, Ch, GB & Int Ch Collooney He’s The One, with the second place rosette going to Carla Bollard O’Callaghan’s Afghan Hound, Ch Ashahni Amir, ‘Caleb’ the current group leader on the ICP/Connolly’s RED MILLS Leaderboard.
