LIMERICK '12 BEST IN SHOW
The Best in Show judge at Limerick was Claudio De Giuliani from Italy, the owner of the ‘Claman’ German Short Haired Pointers and Dachshunds. Claudio had a good line-up to chose from and in the end it was Ruben, the Papillon, James Newman’s Ch, GB, Ger, Slov & Int Ch Denemore Iconsruben, who had earlier won his 9th Group of 2012 under Andreas Schemel, who won his 2nd BIS this year, his first being the Combined International at Easter. Reserve BIS went to the Rottweiler, Andrea Cleary’s Ch Cuchulain The Brave, who had earlier won his first group this year under Irish judge, Peter Farrell.

Claudios De Giuliani winner was a delighted Kay Connor with her Japanese Spitz baby, home bred Akiera Frost On My Socks, with Kieran Behan’s Chow Chow, Mingfield Close Call, handled by dad, Philip, runner-up.

Champion Stakes winner at Limerick under Michael Leonard was Tom and Annie Mervyn’s German Short Haired Pointer, Sh Ch Karlivar Dusky Rose at Tomanipoint, owner of 2 CCs with a group win from Banbridge, runner up at South Tipp, Bray and Dundalk, Group 3rds from Deise and ILKA and a 4th from Combined International. Taking 2nd place here was Tracy Shelly’s Shar Pei, Ch Rosabaron Lord of Zaralee, Group 2 winner at both Deise and Bray this summer and earlier in the year took the CC & BOB at Crufts.

Winning the Veteran Stakes at Limerick under Michael Leonard was Eamon and Ann White’s BSD Tervueran, Ch Revloch Ready Teddy Go To Whitandon; ‘Lennox’ was 4th in Group 1 later, won the groups at both Bray and Bangor, and although a Veteran, he is currently 2nd top dog on the ICP’Connolly’s Red Mills Group 1 Leaderboard. Second in these stakes was Crowther Baugley’s Welsh Springer Spaniel, Tannamoor Hallmark at Lligwy.

LIMERICK '12 BRACE STAKES
The Brace Stakes saw Michael Leonard give the red rosette to Harrison’s Skye Terrier duo, ‘Merlin’ and ‘Archer’, otherwise known as Ch Papplewick Knockando for Trenson and his sire, Knowlespring Jailhouse Roc for Trenson; this pair making it a clean sweep at all four of the Munster Circuit shows.

John Walsh (Junior) judged Group 1 at Limerick, finding his winner in the Shetland Sheepdog, Cathrina Dunne’s Fearnach Frosty Moon at Longrange, this almost 3 year old bitch winning her first group. Runner up was Jerry Daly’s Australian Shepherd Dog, Silver Dream Aussie’s All My Life, winning his Irish crown on the day.

Peter Farrell judged Group 2, and his winner was the Rottweiler, Andrea Cleary’s eventual RBIS winner, Ch Cuchulain The Brave, with the Boxer, Paul Keenan and Darren Griffin’s Rectorypark See You There At Bessbox, runner up; ‘Sally’ had earlier clinched BOB under Swiss judge, Elisabeth Feuz from an excellent entry of 83 dogs, having taken an open bitch class of 19 entries.

Ann Rode from Switzerland judged Group 3, her winner of course being the Kerry Blue Terrier, Cathy Neill and Cara Davani’s Ch Kebulak Dirty Harry, who finished BIS 4, and she gave Group 2nd to the Miniature Bull Terrier, Birgitt Salewski-Mielchen and husband Roland Mielchen’s Easy Rider of Slanting Shore, over on the circuit from Germany, handled by Birgitt and going one place up from the previous show in Killarney.

The dachshunds’ Group 4 was judged by Ruth Wagner of the ‘Von den Garnicher Eichen’ prefix in Luxembourg, and she found her winner in Linda Coverly’s Wire Haired, homebred Aventine Shaken Not Stirred, over on the circuit from England, with the Peter and Caroline Wheatland’s Miniature Smooth Haired, Kinchville Moscow Never Sleeps of Pinedax, taking the runner-up spot.
LIMERICK '12 GROUP 5
Christina Rossier from Switzerland judged the large Group 5 and her eventual winner was the Alaskan Malamute, Averil Roper’s Tokosha Atka, who finished the day BIS 3, while Ellen O’Neill was over again from Scotland and took the 2nd rosette with her American Akita, homebred GB Ch Geilsaven Wear My Kiss, a first circuit group placing for this bitch.
LIMERICK '12 GROUP 6
Margaret O’Gorman, secretary of Clonmel, judged Group 6 where she found her winner in Eamon Murray’s multi group and BIS winning Beagle, Ch Heathergrove Persian Warrior, who had been BIS on Sunday at Clonmel; this was ‘Tyler’s 8th group so far this year. In 2nd place was the Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen, Tarmachan Albanwr owned by Gwen Huikeshoven from the Netherlands and over on the circuit from Scotland with his breeders, Fiona Buchanan and Michael MacLaren, and handled by Fiona.
LIMERICK '12 GROUP 7
Colm Hastings from Cork ran the rule over the Group 7 gundogs, his winner being Morag, David and Ryan Connolly’s Weimaraner, Sh Ch Zilverein Got Me Mojo at Huntly; ‘Spike’ the group winner and Res BIS at IKC Celtic Winners in March and Group winner also at Monkstown. Second placed here was Cathy Loughlin and Katie Kelly’s Irish Setter, Sh Ch Rohanmor You Were Made for Me Jun Ch, who won the group at ILKA.
LIMERICK '12 GROUP 8
Catherine Collins gave Group 8 to Chris and Angela Hancock’s black Labrador Retriever, Ch & Sh Ch Ballyhenry Hancourt Yeats Jun Ch, his third group win this year. It was the black Cocker Spaniel, Kerry Brennan’s homebred Kerrijoy Valentino Jun Ch, who took 2nd place.

It was Austrian, Andreas Schemel, who sent on to the BIS ring from Group 9 the BIS winning Papillon, James newman’s Ch, GB, Ger, Slov & Int Ch Denemore Iconsruben, with Ashling Connolly’s Bichon Frise, POTY ’11 and IKC Top Showdog ‘11 contest winner Ch Ashmair Double Act; ‘Beau’, who was BIS at Swords and won the groups at Fermoy and Dundalk this year.
LIMERICK '12 GROUP 10
Ruth Wagner was ring centre for Group 10, her winner being the Whippet, Lynda Matthews and Don Foran’s Ch Courthill Catch A Shadow; ‘Esther’ was taking her third group win this year, handled as usual by Lynda, and is a daughter of ‘Brad’, her IKC Dog of The Year 2010. She won the CC at Crufts this year to add to her RCC as a baby at Southern Counties, and was top puppy in the UK last year. Carla Bollard-O’Callaghan’s Afghan Hound, multi Group & BIS winning Ch Ashahni Amir, took the runner-up spot here; ‘Caleb’, CC & BOB at Crufts ’11 and came to the Circuit as a GB Champion as he had taken his 3rd ticket with BOB at Paignton, and went on to take his 4th with BOB at Bournemouth.
