Making his judging debut in the Best in Show ring, a ring so familiar to him with his top winning Dachville Dachshunds, was Gerry McFaul whose choice for Best in Show Killarney 2013 fell to John and Carol Mulcahy’s Rough Collie, Australian Supreme Ch Kazis Sir Spencer; John & Carol have recently moved to Wexford from Sydney, Australia where 7½ year old ‘Spencer’ had such a sparkling career; top Collie for many years, he had a total of 51 groups, 22 RBISs and 20 Best in Show awards. Reserve BIS under Gerry was Sean Carroll & James Newman’s Pomeranian, Ch, GB & Int Ch Belliver The Ultimate Creation, ‘Victoria’s’ second RBIS in a row on Circuit week after similar success at Clonmel two days earlier.

Bryan Hegarty was centre-ring for Group 2, where his winner was Willie and Mandy Dobbin’s very successful Newfoundland, Ch & GB Ch Brooklynbear Picasso, handled by son, Willie, who then went on to BIS 4, with Paul Scanlon & Ashling Connolly’s 6 months old Miniature Schnauzer, Nujax Johnny Cash in second place.

Austin Long Doyle judged the terrier group, finding his winner in Con and Liz Nagle’s GB Ch Stormblu Aristocrat Of Colincas, whilst second place in Group 3 was awarded to Jackie and Andrea Stubbs’ 15 months old homebred Parson Russell Terrier, Cotarrin Silver Fox, BIS at the club show the previous day.

Judging Group 4 was breed specialist Eamon White who found his winner in Martin McDonnell’s Miniature Long Haired, Ch Smartdac Supernatural; runner-up under Eamon was Michael Crowley’s Standard Smooth Haired, Eleanor’s Surprise At Donnamarc.
