Making his judging debut in the Best in Show ring, a ring so familiar to him with his top winning Dachville Dachshunds, was Gerry McFaul whose choice for Best in Show Killarney 2013 fell to John and Carol Mulcahy’s Rough Collie, Australian Supreme Ch Kazis Sir Spencer; John & Carol have recently moved to Wexford from Sydney, Australia where 7½ year old ‘Spencer’ had such a sparkling career; top Collie for many years, he had a total of 51 groups, 22 RBISs and 20 Best in Show awards. Reserve BIS under Gerry was Sean Carroll & James Newman’s Pomeranian, Ch, GB & Int Ch Belliver The Ultimate Creation, ‘Victoria’s’ second RBIS in a row on Circuit week after similar success at Clonmel two days earlier.

Gerry McFaul judged Best Baby Puppy in Show at Killarney, selecting Philomena and Paddy Leonard’s Shih Tzu, homebred Plenard Wanna Be A Superstar; two wins in two days for this young ‘superstar’, ‘Nancy’ with June Wall and Noel Beggs’ French Bulldog Clisson Irma La Douce, runner-up.

Topping the Champion Stakes under Kay Cahill was the Tibetan Terrier, Dermot and Cybel Alford’s Ch Christate How U Doin, with second place awarded to the Standard Poodle, Ch Sarnia Magic Once More At Valentine, owned by Sally & Sean Burns and Val & Mary Coghlan.

Kay Cahill judged the Puppy Stakes, she chose ‘P.J’ O’Donovan’s 10 months old French bred Shih Tzu, Liberty From Audreys Paradis, to represent Killarney at the POTY Finals next Easter; in second place was Audrey O’Brien’s Beagle, Heathergrove Arco’s Kingdom.

KILLARNEY '13 GROUP 1
The Best in Show winning Rough Collie, John & Carol Mulcahy’s Australian Supreme Ch Kazis Sir Spence, was Marcello Mesquita’s Group 1 winner at Killarney with Colm & Rose Hastings’ American import Old English Sheepdog, Ch Lambluvs Sultry Secret, currently heading up the ICP/Connolly’s Red Mills Group 1 Leaderboard.

KILLARNEY '13 GROUP 2
Bryan Hegarty was centre-ring for Group 2, where his winner was Willie and Mandy Dobbin’s very successful Newfoundland, Ch & GB Ch Brooklynbear Picasso, handled by son, Willie, who then went on to BIS 4, with Paul Scanlon & Ashling Connolly’s 6 months old Miniature Schnauzer, Nujax Johnny Cash in second place.

KILLARNEY '13 GROUP 3
Austin Long Doyle judged the terrier group, finding his winner in Con and Liz Nagle’s GB Ch Stormblu Aristocrat Of Colincas, whilst second place in Group 3 was awarded to Jackie and Andrea Stubbs’ 15 months old homebred Parson Russell Terrier, Cotarrin Silver Fox, BIS at the club show the previous day.

KILLARNEY '13 GROUP 4
Judging Group 4 was breed specialist Eamon White who found his winner in Martin McDonnell’s Miniature Long Haired, Ch Smartdac Supernatural; runner-up under Eamon was Michael Crowley’s Standard Smooth Haired, Eleanor’s Surprise At Donnamarc.

KILLARNEY '13 GROUP 5
Ann Long Doyle’s winner in Group 5 was Sean Carroll & James Newman’s Pomeranian, Ch, GB & Int Ch Belliver The Ultimate Creation, who went on to her second RBIS win in successive days; Jimmy Duggan’s BIS winning Siberian Husky, Ch & GB Ch Bedarra Cold Paws Warm Heart For Leorient, handled by wife Anita, was awarded second place.

KILLARNEY '13 GROUP 6
Judging Group 6 was Ann White, and it was Barry O’Neill’s Basset Hound, Ch & GB Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, who came out on top. In second spot was Serena Parker & Graham Stevens’ visiting Beagle, GB Ch Ch Serenaker Devil In Disguise.

KILLARNEY '13 GROUP 7
Group 7 was judged by Claire Ann Ahern, whose top spot went to Cathy Loghlin and Katie Kelly’s Irish Setter, Sh Ch Rohanmor You Were Made For Me, BIS winner at Munster, with Sue Welch’s Pointer, Moolou Minstrel At Hookwood, handled by Fiona Robertson in second spot.

KILLARNEY '13 GROUP 8
Judging Group 8 was Australian, Tabatha Buckley, finding her winner in the American Cocker Spaniel, Eamon and Eva Keenan, Brian Nelson and Lisa Bryant’s American Cocker Spaniel, GB Sh Ch Nasailleen In The Buff, RBIS at both Kilkenny and ILKA with Johns & Barton’s Portuguese Water Dog, Gemson Symphony Among Auldheim, in second place.

Heading up Group 10 under Eamon White was the Whippet, Ch, GB & Int Ch Collooney He’s The One, ‘Brad’ the IKC Dog Of The Year 2010 and today’s Veteran Stakes winner; Carla Bollard O’Callaghan’s top winning Afghan Hound, Ch, GB & Int Ch Ashahni Amir, was in second place.
