RBIS was Caryn Coogan and Elisabeth Juverud’s Pug Tangetoppen’s Troublemaker; two-year-old ‘Toro’ was bred in Norway.

KILKENNY '16 BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW
James Newman was also the judge for best baby puppy in show, finding his winner in Paul and Aisling Briscoe’s five-month-old Whippet Ailesbury Ziggy Stardust at Belwood, piloted to victory by his co-breeder Lynda Matthews. Runner-up was Emer Wright and Marin Jackson’s Swedish imported Flatcoated Retriever Caci’s Just Take A Look at Lascar.

KILKENNY '16 PUPPY STAKES
Taking charge of the stakes classes at Kilkenny was Cathy Neill. Starting with the Puppy Stakes, her winner and qualifier for the Irish Pup of the Year final next Easter was Danielle Ritchie-Smith’s Whippet Gwendariff I’m So Brewteaful, nine-month-old ‘Marnie’ handed by her mum Dawn. Second was Mandy and Willie Moore’s Leonberger Lempileijonan Aito Suomileijona At Hillhaven.

KILKENNY '16 CHAMPION STAKES
Topping the champion stakes under Cathy Neill was Sue and Sally Knowles and Irene Glen’s Italian Spinone Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Afterglow Hashtag Scandal At Bessalone, handled by David Shields. Second place went to Keith Sheehan’s St Bernard Ch Parleshan Ivan, handled by Sinead Taggart.

KILKENNY '16 VETERAN STAKES
Carla Bollard O’Callaghan’s Afghan Hound Ch, GB & Int Ch Ashahni Amir was Cathy Neill’s Veteran Stakes winner, runner-up was last year’s top veteran, Sally Tonks and Dione Fitzsimons’ Pyrenean Mountain Dog Ch, GB & Int Ch Shanlimore Maverick.

KILKENNY '16 BRACE STAKES
Heading the Brace Stakes was the Alaskan Malamute pairing of Ch Lueldar Dixie Chick and Lueldar Midnight Runner, owned by Darren and Elaine Walker, with Carole Dodds handling her and Stuart Pearson’s Dalmatians Kelevra Hudson Hawk and Kelevra Mercury Rising into second place.

Terry Griffn judged Group 1, selecting as his winner David and Morag Connolly’s Border Collie Nahrof Blurred Lines at Huntly. Runner-up was Paul, Jean and Kelly Lawless’ Groenendael Ch & GB Ch Revloch Figo.

KILKENNY '16 GROUP 2
Topping group 2 under Elizabeth Caminade Lavault from Zambia was Paul Scanlon and Ashing Connolly’s Miniature Schnauzer Ch Nujax Johnny Cash, who then went on to BIS4, with runner-up spot taken by Andrea Stubbs and Mossy Lenihan’s Rottweiler Ch & GB Ch Cotarinn Fright Night, ‘Tyson’ handled by co-breeder Jackie Stubbs.

KILKENNY '16 GROUP 3
It was the BIS-winning Smooth Fox Terrier, Ross Delmar and Ewa Lunden’s Ch, Sw, Norw, Dan & Int Ch Residensets Stand-In, who took Group 3 under Joy O’Connor whose runner-up rosette went to the Scottish Terrier, Betty Smit-Kammerbeek’s Lucia’s Dream Surprise Packet, handled by Myles Leonard.

KILKENNY '16 GROUP 4
Heading the Dachshunds in Group 4 under Lars Hjelmtvedt from Norway was Christine Bastable’s 12-month-old Miniature Smooth Dachsclass Crepe Sucre Ama Chrishane; Spanish-bred ‘Demelza’ was BP at Newtownards. Runner-up was Peter and Carolyn Wheatland’s Smooth Pinedax Dolly Mixture.

Elizabeth Caminade Lavault also judged Group 5, sending forward Roma Giedratiene’s Siberian Husky Kristari’s Wild Charm, ‘Buster’ Best Puppy in Show at Newtownards International in 2014. Second was Joan Duffus’ Samoyed Smiling Luminous Callisto.

KILKENNY '16 GROUP 6
Steve Meredith from New Zealand, but originally from Wales, judged Group 6 awarding top spot to Ivor and Michelle Keelan’s Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen Ch & Int Ch Afterglow Chunkey Monkey. Second place went to Barry O’Neill’s Basset Hound Ch, GB & Int Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, BIS winner this year at South Tipperary.

Gundog specialist Stuart Cummings judged Group 7 where his winner was Tom and Annie Mervyn’s German Shorthaired Pointer Sh Ch Tomanipoint Celtic Knight. Second place went to today’s champion stakes winner, Sue and Sally Knowles and Irene Glen’s Italian Spinone Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Afterglow Hashtag Scandal at Bessalone, handled by David Shields.

Steve Meredith was back ring centre for Group 8, finding his winner in Katie and Kerrie Kelly’s Golden Retriever Corglassgold Honour Roll with Zenevieva. In second place was Ivor and Michelle Keelan’s American Cocker Spaniel Ch Bunnybois Brainstorm at Tejas.

KILKENNY '16 GROUP 9
Judging Group 9 was Janelle Robbins, originally from Australia but now resident in GB, and she chose the RBIS-winning Pug, Caryn Coogan and Elisabeth Juverud’s Tangetoppen’s Troublemaker, with Maureen Tate-Byrne’s Tibetan Terrier Ch Siddhartha Quirky ‘N’ Quaint in the runner-up slot.

KILKENNY '16 GROUP 10
Steve Meredith was a busy man at Kilkenny, also judging Group 10 where his winner was Lyn Appleby, John Minchin, Jayne Edwards and Mary Mulvaney’s Afghan Hound Ch & Int Ch Davashey To Tell The Truth, who went on to BIS3. Runner-up was Danielle Ritchie-Smith’s Swedish import Whippet Play A While Before The Rains, handled by mum Dawn.
