RBIS was Caryn Coogan and Elisabeth Juverud’s Pug Tangetoppen’s Troublemaker; two-year-old ‘Toro’ was bred in Norway.

James Newman was also the judge for best baby puppy in show, finding his winner in Paul and Aisling Briscoe’s five-month-old Whippet Ailesbury Ziggy Stardust at Belwood, piloted to victory by his co-breeder Lynda Matthews. Runner-up was Emer Wright and Marin Jackson’s Swedish imported Flatcoated Retriever Caci’s Just Take A Look at Lascar.

Taking charge of the stakes classes at Kilkenny was Cathy Neill. Starting with the Puppy Stakes, her winner and qualifier for the Irish Pup of the Year final next Easter was Danielle Ritchie-Smith’s Whippet Gwendariff I’m So Brewteaful, nine-month-old ‘Marnie’ handed by her mum Dawn. Second was Mandy and Willie Moore’s Leonberger Lempileijonan Aito Suomileijona At Hillhaven.

Topping the champion stakes under Cathy Neill was Sue and Sally Knowles and Irene Glen’s Italian Spinone Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Afterglow Hashtag Scandal At Bessalone, handled by David Shields. Second place went to Keith Sheehan’s St Bernard Ch Parleshan Ivan, handled by Sinead Taggart.

Carla Bollard O’Callaghan’s Afghan Hound Ch, GB & Int Ch Ashahni Amir was Cathy Neill’s Veteran Stakes winner, runner-up was last year’s top veteran, Sally Tonks and Dione Fitzsimons’ Pyrenean Mountain Dog Ch, GB & Int Ch Shanlimore Maverick.

Heading the Brace Stakes was the Alaskan Malamute pairing of Ch Lueldar Dixie Chick and Lueldar Midnight Runner, owned by Darren and Elaine Walker, with Carole Dodds handling her and Stuart Pearson’s Dalmatians Kelevra Hudson Hawk and Kelevra Mercury Rising into second place.

Second place went to Barry O’Neill’s Basset Hound Ch, GB & Int Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, BIS winner this year at South Tipperary.
