IRISH LADIES KENNEL ASSOCIATION '14 BEST IN SHOW
Irish Ladies Kennel Association was held on the Saturday, starting off the back to back weekend with Bull Breeds and they too enjoyed generous sponsorship from Pet Master. Topping the bill here under judge, Lyn Appleby, well known for her success in Afghans over many years, was the German Shorthaired Pointer, Tom and Annie Mervyn’s Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Karlivar Dusky Rose at Tomanipoint. Lyn chose for her Reserve BIS, the Whippet, Ch Sheol Golden Child, owned and bred by three generations of the O’Brien family, dad Stevie, daughter Stephanie Robertson, and her daughter, Fiona. Stephanie earlier handled her to win her first group this year.

Lyn Appleby judged Best Baby Puppy In Show and chose Tina & Catherine Broaders' Lakeland Terrier, Brookside Aristocrat. Reserve BBPIS went to Morag and David Connolly’s Weimaraner, Jack In The Box Du Val Gehel’n at Huntly.

Topping the champion stakes under Billy Blount was Jimmy Duggan’s Siberian Husky Ch, GB & Int Ch Bedarra Cold Paws Warm Heart for Leorient, handled by wife Anita.
ILKA '14 PUPPY STAKES
Billy Blount judged the puppy stakes, Billy’s winner’s rosette went to Jason McMorrow’s Maltese, Ripley Wonder Of Love. Runner-up was Clodagh Fallon’s Pug, Clodana The Jedi Master.

Winning the veteran stakes under Billy Blount was Tina and Catherine Broaders’ nine-year-old Wire Fox Terrier Ch & Int Ch Crystalwire Solo of Brookside.

John Kehoe judged Group 1 where his winner, Brenda and Joe Doyle’s Shetland Sheepdog, Ch Sevenoaks Gold Edition, went on to BIS4. In second place was Frances Toman’s Pembroke Corgi Ch Whitepoint Stare If U Dare at Manto.

Topping group 2 under John Kehoe was Sandra English’s Smooth St Bernard, Ch Santomard Anubus, with in second spot Fiona Carr’s Boxer, Bessbox Top Gun at Boxcatow.

Marion Gregg was centre ring for the Terrier Group, sending through from group 3 to BIS Harry O’Donoghue’s Wire Fox Terrier, Blackdale King Edward, with Melanie Corcoran’s Staffordshire Bull Terrier Ch & GB Ch Zakstaff Whats The Story at Molru in second place.

Group 4 winner under Cindy Dare was Nigel and Liz Bate’s Miniature Smooth Ch Red Promise for Batendach. Gerry McFaul’s Long Ch & GB Ch Dachville Special Blend was in second place.

Val Coghlan judged Group 5, finding his winner in Peri Burnside’s Alaskan Malamute Ch Libertia Reggae Master, handled by her son Adam en route to BIS3. Second was Liz Wogan’s Keeshond GB Ch Neradmik Uptown Girl Deminiac.

Eddie Casey judged Group 6 ring where his winner was the Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen, Fiona Buchanan and Mike MacLaren’s GB Ch Tarmachan Cartier, with Barry O’Neill’s Basset Ch, GB & Int Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy second placed.

Dr Zlatko Jojkic from Serbia, adjudicated group 7 and selected for his winner Tom and Annie Mervyn’s Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Karlivar Dusky Rose at Tomanipoint. Maura and Seamus Gettings’ German Wirehaired Pointer Sh Ch & Int Sh Ch Kimmax Krystal Klear of Beechillawn was runner-up.

Attila Czegledi from Hungary, judged the retrievers and spaniels of group 8 and here his winner was Jeanette Filskov’s Golden Retriever Ch, GB, Dan & Int Sh Ch Abinvale Traguardo, handled by breeder Emma Archibald. Second in the group was Carol Downward’s English Springer Spaniel GB Sh Ch Reubens Silent Reflection.

Maureen Byrne judged group 9 and she gave the red rosette to the Japanese Chin, Lee Grogan’s Ch Axelwood Karmin. Runner-up Jason McMorrow’s Maltese puppy Ripley Wonder Of Love who had earlier won the puppy stakes.

Group 10 was judged by Hungarian Attila Czegledi, whose winner was the eventual RBIS-winning Whippet Ch Sheol Golden Child, owned and bred by Stephanie Robertson, her daughter, Fiona, and father Steven O’Brien, with in second spot Felicity Thompson’s young Greyhound, Isla at Barnesmore Ad Honores.
