IKC (SUMMER) '15 BEST IN SHOW
Brian O’Hara, Vice-President of the Irish Kennel Club, was the Best in Show judge and taking top spot was Kelly, Jean and Paul Lawless’ Belgian Shepherd Dog (Groenendael) Ch & GB Ch Revloch Figo, handled today by Kelly. Not only was the first time that a Groenendael had won Best in Show in Ireland, it was also the first ever BIS award for the Revloch team, although ‘Figo’s great grandfather, the Tervueren, Ch Revloch Incognito, had been RBIS at the IKC St Patrick’s Day show in 2000. Tom and Annie Mervyn’s German Shorthaired Pointer, Sh Ch Tomanipoint Celtic Knight, was awarded Reserve Best in Show; this was following 16 months old Rory’s’ third group win this year and at Fermoy International he was BIS 4.

Donal Neally’s Junior Stakes winner was Catherina Caffrey’s 14 months old Weimaraner, Quick Silver Hugel Lilly, moving into the first spot after runner-up at Sligo, with Grainne Keeling’s Shetland Sheepdog, Fearnach Show Me Heaven In Kishdigra, handled by dad, Kieran, in second spot.

Sally Burns and Mary Coghlan’s Toy Poodle, Ch, GB & Int Ch Aedan Special Design For Valentine, was Donal Neally’s Veteran Stakes winner; 8 year old ‘Frankie’ a group and BIS winner, gaining her Veteran title in the breed today as did Sally Tonks and Dione Fitzsimons’ Pyrenean Mountain Dog, Ch, GB & Int Ch Shanlimore The Maverick, who was also BOB, in second place; ‘Darcy’ heading the ICP/ROYAL CANIN Veteran Leaderboard.

Mary O’Donoghue judged Group 3 where her winner was the Scottish Terrier, Clifford, Eileen and Christopher Aiken’s Slievecroob Scotch Piper, a first group win of the year, with second place to the Smooth Fox Terrier, Ross Delmar & Ewa Lunden’s Multi Ch Residentsets Stand-In, group winner at Combined National, Swords and Bray.

Michael Crowley’s Group 4 winner was the 2 year old Smooth Haired, Ch Sontag Say The Word For Celandine, owned by Jennifer Cunningham, Preeti’ winning her first group this year; Christine Bastable’s Miniature Smooth, Ch Chrishanes Maxwell Edison MD, group 3 at Celtic Winners, was runner-up.

Heading up Group 8 under Dolores Dineen was the Clumber Spaniel, Ralph Dunne’s Sh Ch Richley Royale Bond, his third group of the year and topping the GAIN PETFOODS/ICP/Dog World Group 8 Leaderboard. Maria McEntee O’Sullivan’s Cocker Spaniel, Baysway Dentelle Noire, with a first group placing, was runner-up.
