IKC INTERNATIONAL DAY 2 '15 BEST IN SHOW
Well known Irish judge June Wall, impeccably attired as always, took centre stage in the best in show ring. From the ten group winners sent through by the panel of judges from around the world, June’s choice for Best in Show fell to Seamus Magee and Lisa Sweeney’s Bullmastiff, Ch Bullmeredith Captain Rowlo of Tarbhore, his second such win in the space of a month. RBIS went to Diane Stewart-Ritchie’s Irish Setter Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Gwendariff Whippersnapper, ‘Nilsson’ on a roll both at home and also across the water with top wins in both, and today taking his sixth group win this year, three of which resulted in BIS wins, namely Munster Canine, Deise and Bray.

Best Puppy in Show under June Wall, selected from the ten puppy group winners judged by June herself, was the Bulldog, Sarah and the late David Scully’s Sardavbullies Numero Uno, six-month-old ‘Uno’ was handled by Beefy Cameron and sent through by breed specialist Margaret Wildman. Runner-up was Michael Keneally and Mairead Jones’ Weimaraner Minama I’m On Fire.

From the best veterans in breed eligible to compete for Best Veteran in Show (those who had also taken the BOB were only allowed to compete in their respective group) June Wall’s winner was Trevor Rodgers’ nine-year-old Japanese Shiba Inu Ch & GB Ch Jiltrain Jack The Lad, handled by Janine Dooner, with RBVIS going to Kerrie and Katie Kelly’s eight-year-old Golden Retriever Ch & Int Ch Zenevieva Destinys Dream.

Rita McCarry-Beattie, the BIS judge on day one, was back in harness on the second day, this time officiating in the stakes classes, starting with the junior stakes where her winner was Paul Stacey’s Dalmatian Dalmino Keep Kool at Reignbows, ten-month-old ‘Kobi’ already making his mark in the breed ring with a green star to his credit. Runner-up was Chris Cathcart’s Lhasa Apso Owenavera Orange Blossom at Cathderry, 15-month-old ‘Petal’ another with a great start to her career with a junior stakes, GS and CAC under her belt.

Topping the array of titleholders in the Champion Stakes was Sally Burns, Mary Coghlan and Lesley Howard’s Toy Poodle Ch Grayco Splash The Cash, ‘Geoffrey’ the group winner at South Tipperary, IKC summer show where he was BIS4, and Tralee where he was BIS3. Runner-up was Catherine Halpin’s Welsh Springer Spaniel Sh Ch Moonlone Travelling Man, ‘Taffy’ the group winner at IKC Top Showdog and later in the day taking the group here.

Tino Pehar from Croatia judged group 1, finding his winner in Audrey McDonald’s Border Collie GB Sh Ch Locheil Ooh La La; ‘Lola’ has ten CCs, took her Irish title the previous day and was G2 recently at Limerick. In second place was Brenda and Joe Doyle’s Shetland Sheepdog Ch & Int Ch Sevenoaks Gold Edition, ‘Jay’ the group winner last year at ILKA.

Ligita Zake from Latvia was the group 2 judge and she was delighted when her winner, Seamus Magee and Lisa Sweeney’s Bullmastiff Ch Bullmeredith Captain Rowlo of Tarbhore, went on to BIS. Runner-up was the Bulldog, Sarah and the late David Scully’s Chrishabull Touch Of Class, handled by Beefy Cameron, ‘Emily’ with a first group placing and today winning her third CACIB.

Group 3, under well-known terrier specialist Mike Macbeth from Canada, saw a repeat of the previous day’s result with Richard Dalton and Philip O’Brien and wife Jarka’s Kerry Blue Ch & GB Ch Dalstar Il Divo coming out ahead of Ross Delmar and Eva Lunden’s Smooth Fox, Ch, Sw, Norw, Dan & Int Ch Residensets Stand-In.

Athanasios Garivaldis from Greece judged the Dachshund group 4 where his winner, Gerry McFaul’s Long Ch Shardaroba’s Fashion Flow at Dachville, went on to BIS4. In second place was Mary and Joe Allan and Mary Dick’s Kaninchen Wire Auchans Come For Me; 16-month old ‘Pilar’ handled by Emma North Row, was made up today and also has CACs won in Spain.

Denis Kuzelj was in charge of group 5, awarding top spot to Maureen and Brian Carroll’s Keeshond Ch & Int Ch Lyntova Legend Has It, ‘Jackson’ the group winner this year also at Swords, Monkstown and Clonmel, with the runner-up slot taken by Scarlett Burnside’s Alaskan Malamute Ch & Int Ch Libertia Reggae Master, ‘Marley’ the previous day’s group winner.

Petru Muntean’s group 6 winner was yet another victory for the top winning Basset Hound, Barry O’Neill’s Ch, GB & Int Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, adding to his numerous group wins this year. Second place went to Debbie Ellrich’s Basset Fauve de Bretagne, Blevwil Enchantress over Malrich, ‘Ginger’ with one CC and seven RCCs adding to her two CACIBs.

Topping group 7 under Ole Staunskjaer from Denmark was Diane Stewart Ritchie’s Irish Setter Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Gwendariff Whippersnapper, en route to RBIS, with runner-up spot going to Catherine Kelly’s Hungarian Vizsla Ch Risley Simply Irresistible, handled by Lauren Waugh to her second group placing of the year.

Catherine Halpin’s Welsh Springer Spaniel Sh Ch Moonlone Travelling Man, earlier in the day the champion stakes runner-up, was Herbert Kleeman’s group 8 winner, repeating his group win a few weeks earlier at Bangor, while in second place was Lisa Graham’s Cocker Spaniel Stilgoa Carling Black Label, ‘Thomas’ the CC winner at Southern Counties and today taking his Irish Sh Ch title.

It was the eventual BIS3 winning Papillon, Sean Carroll and James Newman’s Ch, Cz, Ger Ch Hundebuden’s Juno Pondabudens, who topped group 9 for the second day in a row, this time under Veli-Pekki Kumpumaki, whose choice for runner-up was Henry Stanley and Graham Gault’s Pekingese Pekehuis Midnight Magic, ‘Scooby’ winning his fifth GS since arriving back in May.

Petru Muntean also judged group 10, selecting Petra Tomasovicova’s Irish Wolfhound Ch Bloody Mary Tullamore Good Stuff, ‘Mary’ the group winner this year at Fermoy international and Coleraine, with second place going to Dudley and Glynis Chadwick’s Afghan Hound GB Ch Afterglow Jumping Rainbows of Sofico; eight-year-old ‘Axel’ handled today by Liz Millward to gain his International title, with previous CACIBs won in Belgium and France.

Margaret and Frank Wildman were over from England to judge over the two days and on day two it was Margaret who sent through the Bulldog puppy who finished Best Puppy in Show, while Frank was also delighted to see his previous day’s BOB Bullmastiff take BIS on the second day.
