Best in Show judge, Noreen Clark, selected the German Shepherd Dog, Ch Feebroithe Canto, owned by Michael Heenan and Theresa McMahon as her Best In Show. Three-year-old ‘Canto’ was bred by Seamus Brophy, his handler, and Marie Feehily. He has nine green stars and has previously been shortlisted and group placed. Reserve BIS was Ann Cuthbert and Stephen Minogue’s Borzoi Ch & Int Ch Donskoi Asmodey, handled in the breed by Stephen but in the group and BIS by Lynda Cuthbert Matthews. ‘Louis’, top Borzoi since 2010, is no stranger to top honours.

Anita Foley Duggan handled her husband Jimmy’s Siberian Husky Leorient What Goes Around to win best baby puppy in show under Noreen Clarke. Five and-a-half-month-old ‘Karma’ was at her first show. Runner-up was Dione Fitzsimons’ Dobermann Sant Kreal Hugo Boss Iz Fitzkin, just four and a half months old. ‘Hugo’ is already a winner as he was BBPIS at Mayo open show.

Best puppy in show, judged by BIS judge Noreen Clarke, was the Golden Retriever, Kerrie and Katie Kelly’s Fairfield Florencia for Zenevieve, with reserve to Orlaith Keenan’s Medium Poodle Sleepybrook Licence To Kill.

Noreen Clarke also judged best veteran in show, from the BVs declared in each breed, and top honour fell to the Whippet, Pamela and Ryan Hunter’s Ch, GB & Int Ch Mossbawnhill It’s All About Me, currently top of the ICP/Royal Canin Veteran Leaderboard, and runner-up Veteran of the Year in ‘15. Runner-up here was the Kaninchen Wire Dachshund, Ian, Marion and Tim Finney’s Ch & Int Ch Nice One from Vitoraz at Gulliagh.

FERMOY INTERNATIONAL '16 CHAMPION STAKES
Colm Beattie, who had a busy day ahead with all the stakes and also the puppy groups, gave his champion stakes rosette to Oliver Noonan’s Japanese Chin Ch, Dan & Sw Ch Roseheavens Fabian’s Perfect Touch, who was top toy in Denmark in 2015, and will now compete for the Champion of Champions 2016, early next year. ‘Fazi’, since arriving from Denmark, has attended five shows and has won four green stars. Zita and Brian Fogarty’s Afghan Hound Ch Drishaun Aint Life Grand was in second place.

Junior stakes winner under Colm Beattie was the English Setter Quensha Roll With It, owned by Anthony Allen and Emma Archibald, who handled him here at his second show after arriving in Ireland. Just 12 months old, ‘Parker’ also won his second GS and took BOB. Runner-up was Paul Stacey’s Dalmatian Dalmino Keep Cool at Reignbows; 16-month-old ‘Kobi’ was BIS at Cork open, and has four GS.

The Shetland Sheepdogs, Milesend Set The Trend and Daisyway Skyrock of Milesend, owned by Mervyn and Ann Webb, won the brace stakes under Colm Beattie who gave second to the Allan, Douglas and Harlow partnership’s Australian Shepherds Ch, GB, Lux & Am Gr Ch Bayshore Stonehaven Cat Burglar and Ch Allmark Naughty But Nice.

German Shepherd Ch Feebroithe Canto, owned by Theresa McMahon and Michael Heenan, topped group 1 under Italian judge Pietro Paola Condo, en route to an historic BIS win. Runner-up was the Old English Sheepdog, recently returned from her native land of the US, Colm and Rose Hastings’ Ch, GB & Am Ch Lambluvs Sultry Secret; ‘Vicky’ had returned to her breeders Jere Marder, Gail Radke and Jeff Yutzy and won her American title.

Judged by Leif Ragnar Hjorth from Norway, the Group 2 winner was the St Bernard Long Haired, Brian O’Sullivan’s Ch Bulabod Jack of Diamonds, who finished the day BIS 4, with the Rottweiler, Maud and Barri Orr’s Tikaram Uptown Girl, handled by Maud, runner-up.

Colm Beattie's pick in Puppy Group 2 went to Murray's Dogue De Bordeaux, Russian imported Maxbord License To Win at Glenrouge, with in 2nd place to Mandy Moore’s Leonberger, Lempileijonan Aito Suomileijona At Hillhaven.

Keith Lovell from Australia ran the rule over the terriers of Group 3, his winning dog being the Smooth Fox Terrier, Ewa Lunden and Ross Delmar’s Ch, Swe, Nor, Dk & Int Ch Residentsets Stand-In; ‘Stanley’ finished the day BIS 3, whilst 2nd was the American Staffordshire Terrier, Troy’s Delboy Cushty.

Dr Tamas Jakkel’s top Dachshund in Group 4 was the Smooth Haired Kaninchen, Karen Weir’s Neth Ch Zimerbude Yantarnaya Kapelka, three years old Russian bred Kapelka was at just her 3rd show in Ireland. Runner up was Martin McDonnell’s Long Haired Miniature, Ch Smartdac Rising Phoenix.

Cristian Stefanescu from Romania made the decisions in group 5 where his winner was the Alaskan Malamute Ch, Lux & Int Ch Libertia Reggae Master, owned by Scarlett and Mark Burnside and handled today by Lauren, Steve and Leanne Worthington’s Int & GB Ch Minioso’s Bear Balnor at Worthysway, who was Cristian’s choice for second spot.

Bob and Caroline Browne’s American Akita, homebred Modelvill You Can’t Deny It, handled by son, Bobby, won Puppy Group 5 under Colm Beattie.

Topping Group 6 under Liz Gondzales from Gibraltar was the Dalmatian, Mary and Dean Baker’s Klarkeson A Kind Of Magic, 4 year old ‘Bailey’ made up at Portadown and winning his first group; Lydia Scott and daughter, Rebecca Cooper’s Rhodesian Ridgeback, Trendsetter Highland Fling for Druimderg was second.

Emma Dunlop handled her homebred Beagle, Mustafar Beatrice, to win Puppy Group 6 under Colm Beattie. Six months old ‘Phoebe’ was Res best Baby Puppy in Show at Banbridge. Second was the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, Darren and Elaine Walker’s Black Majesty Grizz Fizz of Lueldar, imported from Croatia, and handled by their 9 year old daughter Luca.

Cristian Stefanescu was ring centre again for Group 7 where his winner was the Weimaraner, Stephen Kennedy’s Sh Ch Zilverein Straight No Chazer, ‘Logan’ repeating his Portadown group win, with Cathy Loughlin’s Irish Setter, Sh Ch Rohanmor It’s All About Alfie, the Combined International group winner, in second spot.

Laura Huston topped Group 8 under specialist judge Sandra Mashford from Australia with her homebred Hustonia Casablanca, 19 months old ‘Inca’ with a first group success; runner up was Niamh and Dave Callaghan’s Labrador Retriever, Sh Ch Claychalk Costa Zaire of Bannabeach.

Orlaith Keenan was triumphant in Puppy Group 9 with her Medium Poodle, Sleepybrook Licence To Kill, while Sean Carroll and James Newman’s Papillon, Denemore Ragge Prosecco, was runner-up.

Liz Gondzales was ring centre again, this time for Group 10, where her winner was the Borzoi, Ch & Int Ch Dronskoi Asmodey, on his way to Reserve Best in Show, owned by Stephen Minogue and Ann Cuthbert, whose daughter, Lynda Cuthbert Matthews handled him in the Group & BIS. The Irish Wolfhound, Petra Tomasovicova’s Jacaranda Roan Inish, was runner-up.

FERMOY INTERNATIONAL '16 PUPPY GROUP 10
Topping Puppy Group 10 was again a Borzoi and owned by Ann Cuthbert & Stephen Minogue. Lynda again handled and took top honours with Donskoi Aspor, while the runner up spot went to the Whippet, Lucinda Thompson’s homebred Barnesmore Mr D’Arcy.
