DUNDALK '12 BEST IN SHOW
Topping Dundalk Ch Show under BIS judge June Wall, was ‘Flint’, Jimmy Duggan’s popular winning Siberian Husky, Ch Bedarra Cold Paws Warm Heart for Leorient, handled as ever by Anita Foley Duggan. This was his second BIS this year, and also his 7th Group win, adding to his BIS in Wales at Working/Pastoral, so he has had a great 2012 so far. Reserve BIS went to Ashling Connolly’s Bichon Frise, Ch Ashmair Double Act; ‘Beau’ with two CCs and several Reserve tickets, won his third group on the day and was BIS at Swords in June. The show was sponsored by GAIN DOG FOOD with Sean Martin representing GAIN in all the photos.

DUNDALK '12 CHAMPION STAKES
Bernie Ladd was judge elect for al the stakes classed and from the Champion Stakes, she sent through to the Champion of Champions finals at the end of the year, Peter and Jacqui Embleton’s homebred Bernese Mountain Dog, Ch GB & Int Ch Bernemcourt Sirocco, who has topped his breed since 2007, and has a large collection of Group wins and placings under his belt. Second here was Tony Moran’s Tibetan Spaniel, Ch & GB Ch Avigdor Evangeline, another from this top winning kennel at home and abroad, who was World Winner last year.

DUNDALK '12 PUPPY STAKES
Bernie Lass had the job of sorting out the 55 hopefuls in the Puppy Stakes, all looking for their ticket to the POTY next Easter. However, only one can win the big rosette, and here it was Judi Andrew Tempest’s Tibetan Terrier, homebred Mikudi Hot Toddy; 11 months old ‘Toddy’ is a son of their German imported Ch GB & Int Ch Schanti’s Zara-Lamleh mit Mikudi. Runner up, for the fourth time in the Puppy Stakes, was Paul Keenan and Darren Griffin’s Boxer, Bessbox Eura Star – 4 stakes, 4 seconds, so near, yet so far, but sportingly taken by handler, Paul, who handles ‘Hugo’.

DUNDALK '12 VETERAN STAKES
Topping the Veteran Stakes under Bernie Ladd, was Lyn Appleby, John Minchin and Jane Edwards’ Afghan Hound, Ch Kazdanabad Karlo Rossi, currently way out in front on the ICP/Royal Canin Leaderboard for Veteran of the Year. Runner up was Jenny Hickey’s Border Collie, Ch & Int Ch Beesting Wicca, who has brains as well as beauty, with a string of working qualifications after his name.

DUNDALK '12 GROUP 1
Keith Nathan was over from England to judge at Dundalk, and one of his tasks was to judge Group 1 He found his winner in Sarah Matthews’ Pembroke Corgi, Craigycor Cake Boss, eighteen months old ‘Buddy’ on his show debut and handled by Sarah’s husband and co breeder, Alan Matthews. Group 2nd was the Old English Sheepdog, CC winning Ch & Int Ch Bellablue Grayson, owned and bred by Geraldine Mulrooney and handled by Seamus Keane. ‘Grayson’ is a BIS and multi group winner.

Terry Munroe judged group 2, and his winner was Heather Blair and Claire McBride’s Bullmastiff, GB Ch Ardhub Jenson, a good three steps up from his 4th place at the last show in Sligo. Second here was the Champion Stakes winner, Peter and Jacqui Embleton’s bernese Mountain Dog, Ch, GB & Int Ch Bernemcourt Sirocco.

Alan Small from England, judged the Terriers of Group 3, and his winner was Ian and Ann Higham’s home bred Border Terrier, Comberdown Finnegan, a new face for Group honours. Eleven months old Finnegan, who already has five Green stars, was Best Puppy in Show at Belfast open show at Easter and Reserve at Omagh. At the four breed ch shows that he had attended over the water he has been placed at all of them under breed specialists, and was Best Puppy in Show at the Joint Border’s club Ch Show. Second in the group was Mervyn Thompson’s Wire Fox Terrier, Burrencroft Skipper Lad, another winner from this successful kennel.

UK Breed Specialist, Wendy Barrow judged the Dachshunds of Group 4, where her winner was Gerry McFaul’s Standard Long Haired, Ch & GB Ch Dachville Special Blend; ‘Jill’ finished BIS 3. Suzanne Jamison’s Smooth Haired Miniature, Ch Barisse Spreads the Magic with Smartdac, repeated his Group 2 placing from Banbridge, handled by Martin McDonnell
DUNDALK '12 GROUP 5
Topping Group 5 at Dundalk under Mick Gavin was the eventual BIS winning Siberian Husky, Jimmy Duggan’s Ch Bedarra Cold Paws warm Heart for Leorient, whilst 2nd was the American Akita, Niamh Carroll, Craig Bannon and Aisling’s Am Ch Hoka Hey’s The Power And The Glory, handled by Craig.

It was Afghan specialist, Brian Fogarty who judged Group 6 and he send through to the big ring Eamon Murray’s Beagle, Ch Heathergove Persian Warrior, who finished BIS 4. Barry O’Neill & Sandra Stack’s multi BIS and Group winning Basset Hound, Ch & GB Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, was 2nd
DUNDALK '12 GROUP 7
Jim Gibson of Zilverein Weimaraner fame judged Group 7 where his winner was Ken Kennedy’s Irish Setter, multi group winning Sh Ch, GB Sh Ch & Int Ch Glennara Coer De Lion, with Tom and Annie Mervyn’s German Short Haired Pointer, dual CC winning and also a previous group winner, Sh Ch Karlivar Dusky Rose, 2nd.

Jim Gibson also judged group 8 and here his red rosette went to the Irish Water Spaniel, currently top of the ICP/Connolly’s Red Mills Leaderboard Group 8, Joe Caulfield and Joanne Furlong’s Sh Ch & Int Sh Ch Fynder On Shifting Ground; ‘Marley’ was winning his 6th group of 2012. Kerry Brennan’s Cocker Spaniel, Kerrijoy Valentino, was Group 2nd; he was also 2nd at Hibernian in May and 3rd in Cork.

Toy specialist Des Jenkins from England judged group 9, sending through the eventual Res BIS winning Bichon, Ashling Connolly’s Ch Ashmair Double Act, with, in 2nd place, Ken Crockett’s Boston Terrier, Ch Havasu Heza Beezer.

Brian Fogarty also judged group 10, and he could not go past the Afghan Hound, Carla Bollard O’Callaghan’s Ch Ashahni Amir; ‘Caleb’ is a multi group and BIS winner and just recently clinched his third CC for his UK crown with BOB and group shortlisted at Paignton. Michael Western’s Saluki, Ch, Int Ch Ulmarra Salib, bred by Lynda Dunn, was runnr up.
