Diane Stewart-Ritchie’s Irish Setter, Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Gwendariff Whippersnapper went Best in Show at Deise Canine Club Championship Show under Helen Hegarty, well known secretary of Cork & District. 3 year old ‘Nilsson’ taking was his second BIS award this year after similar success at Munster Canine over Whit weekend. Helen's choice for Reserve BIS was Jimmy Duggan’s top winning Siberian Husky, Ch, GB & Int Ch Bedarra Cold Paws Warm Heart For Leorient; handled by wife Anita, 5 year old ‘Flint’ has had a phenomenal career since coming to Ireland and was taking his 3rd group of the year after success at Combined International and then Munster Canine, where he was RBIS.

The Cavalier King Charles, Sean Martin’s Ch Glencross De Ja Vu will be the Deise representative at the Champion of Champions 2015 finals next January. Runner-up under Andrew Beare was the Shar Pei, Adele Kerrisk’s Ch, Lux & Int Ch Chuanfa Compact at Qing Iverna.

Judging the Puppy Stakes at Deise was Andrew Beare and he gave the invitation to the POTY next Easter to the Connor Cahill and Mary Kilroy's 11 month old American Akita, Roycon Raising Hell. Runner up was the Shetland Sheepdog bitch, Brenda and Joe Doyle’s 9 months old Sevenoaks Angel By My Side.

The Veteran Stakes winner was Sally Tonks and Dione Fitzsimons’ Pyrenean Mountain Dog, Ch, GB Int Ch Shanlimore Maverick; ‘Darcy’ now Joint Top Veteran on the Irish Canine Press/ROYAL CANIN Veteran Leaderboard, and Margaret Corr’s Japanese Spitz, Ch Prince of Doone at Crystalclear, was runner-up.

Ned Kennedy was in charge of Group 1 where his winner was Orla and Annette Cahill’s young Old English Sheepdog, Youandi Alive And Kicking, bred in Holland by Inge Van Engelen; 13 months old ‘Floyd’ was winning his first group and is both a Junior Ch and CJW 15. Runner-up under Ned was Paul, Jean and Kelly Lawless’ BSD Groenendael, Ch & GB Ch Revloch Figo, his fourth such award this year.

Group 2 was judged by Jimmy Hogan whose winner was Barri and Maud Orr’s Rottweiler, GB Ch Odessey Hey Jude At Tikaram, just turned 2 years old and taking his first group at home after a successful campaign across the water; taking second place was Paul Keenan and Darren Griffin’s Boxer, Ch Jamarow Northern Star at Bessbox, ‘Robbie’ the BIS winner at Swords the previous week

Heading up the terriers in Group 3 under Hugh Jordan was the eventual BIS 4 winning Kerry Blue Terrier, Harold and Helena Quigg’s Irisblu Shell Shocked, with Roy and Marion Gregg’s 17 months old CC winning Dandie Dinmont, Ellabeth Amabilisdandie At Bambusa, taking the runner-up spot.

Caroline Reynolds judged the Dachshunds of Group 4, finding her winner in Gerry McFaul’s Long Haired, Ch & GB Ch Dachville Special Blend, ‘Jill’ the previous day’s BIS winner at Kilkenny and on her way to BIS 3 today ; Joe and Mary Allan and Mary Dick’s Miniature Wire, Ch & Gibraltar Ch Alpheratz Francesco, group winner at IKC Celtic Winners was in the runner-up slot.

Billy Boardman was making the decisions in Group 5 where his winner, Jimmy Duggan’s Siberian Husky, Ch, GB & Int Ch Bedarra Cold Paws Warm Heart For Leorient, finished up the day as Reserve Best in Show; runner-up was Lynda Dunn’s Pharaoh Hound, Hard Black Jack Pharaoh Cukker, handled to this first group placing by Katie Kelly.

Topping the Scenthounds in Group 6 under Tara Jenkins-Jago was Oliver’s 3 year old Griffon Fauve De Bretagne, Ch Bogart Humprey, handled by Colin Johnston to a first group placing, with second place awarded to Barry O’Neill’s Basset Hound, Ch, GB & Int Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, ‘Arthur’ adding more points to his total at the top of the GAIN PETFOODS/Irish Canine Press/Dog World Winners Group 6 Leaderboard.

Heading up Group 8 under Jimmy Byrnes was Gerry O’Sullivan’s Irish Water Spaniel, Stanegate Sedge Of Spancilhill, a first group victory for 14 months old ‘Sedge’. Runner-up was Emma, Bette and Frank Archibald’s Golden Retriever, Sh Ch Abinvale Mystic River, ‘Tegan’ the group winner this year at Newtownards.

Linda Mills was centre ring for Group 9, finding her winner in Sally & Sean Burns and Val & Mary Coghlan’s Standard Poodle, Ch Dinasti The Libertine Afterglow, 16 months old and taking his first group today; in second place was Ray O’Neill’s Pekingese, the recently crowned Ch Trendylook Kennedy.

Topping Group 10 under Louisa Casey was Danielle Ritchie-Smith’s 3 years old Whippet, Oakbark My Miracle, the group winner earlier this year at IKC Celtic Winners with Gerry and Pauline Clarke’s Irish Wolfhound, Lady Rose Of Shantamon, group winner at Banbridge and Swords and currently top of the GAIN PETFOODS/Irish Canine Press/Dog World Winners Group 10 Leaderboard, in second place.
