Best in Show at Deise is always judged in the ‘Parade Ring’ – almost, but not quite at the summit of the hill overlooking the strand. Surrounded by the pathway and shrubs, it gave Cathy Delmar a sheltered spot out of the wind to go over the ten group winners.

Topping the Champion Stakes under Claire Anne Ahern was Clodagh Fallon’s Pug, Ch Clodana Serenitybelle, 3 year old ‘Bella’ qualifying for the Champion Stakes Finals for the second year in a row
DEISE '13 PUPPY STAKES
The Puppy Stakes class was judged by Claire Anne Ahern, another of Ireland’s All Breed judges, world famous for her Pipistrelle Papillons. Booking her ticket for the POTY Finals next Easter was Jennifer Garry’s Samoyed, Beyond Continue The Chaos, 11 months old New Zealand import ‘Khaleesi’. Runner-up was Lynda Matthews, Stephen Thomas and Don Foran’s 11 months old Whippet, Ailesbury Fire Heart, ‘Robin’ going on later in the day to win BOB, Group 10 and finishing BIS 4.

Sean Delmar judged Group 1 and moving up from second place the previous day, the winner was Kelly, Paul and Jean Lawless’ Schipperke, Ch, GB & Lux Ch Monterrez Jingle Belle For Hantreved, with second place today going to Albert Balmer’s German Shepherd Dog, homebred Alberdale Wasp, 2 year old ‘Izzy’ taking her first group placing.

Marie Claire Walsh officiated Group 2 where her winner was Ivan McClean’s Russian Black Terrier, Ch Zunda Balalaika, 21 months old ‘Zunda’ winning her first group. Runner-up spot went to Adele Kerrisk’s Shar Pei, Ch & Int Ch Chuanfa Compact At Qing Iverna.

Topping the terriers of Group 3 under Michael Kirby was Melanie Corcoran’s homebred Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Ch Molru Cosmic Love, a first group victory this year for this 2 year old, with John Canty’s Lakekand Terrier, Ch Chelines Hot Thing in second spot, a fourth group placing for this young Spanish bred dog.

Rita McCarry-Beattie did the honours in the Group 4 ring and it was Gerry McFaul’s Standard Long Dachshund, Ch & GB Ch Dachville Special Blend that was victorious; in second place under Rita was Seamus Dunne and Sharon Shone’s Wire Haired Miniature, Ch Hanishan Solitaire.

Heading up Group 5 under Sean Delmar was the RBIS winning Pomeranian, James Newman and Sean Carroll’s Ch, GB & Int Ch Belliver The Ultimate Creation, ‘Victoria’ handled by James, with Jimmy Duggan’s multi group and BIS winning Siberian Husky, Ch & Int Ch Bedarra Cold Paws Warm Heart, handled as usual by wife Anita, in second place.

Continuing his great run, it was group number nine this year for Barry O’Neill’s Basset Hound, Ch & GB Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, Rita McCarry-Beattie’s second place rosette went to the Petit Griffon Basset Vendeen, Ivor and Michelle Keelan’s Ch Afterglow Chunkey Monkey At Tejas.

Group 7 saw the emergence of the BIS winning G.S.H.P. Tom and Ann Marie Mervyn’s Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Karlivar Dusky Rose At Tomanipoint; with debutant group judge Ross Delmar awarding second place to Diane Stewart-Ritchie and Ruth Longbottom’s Irish Setter, Gwendariff Gonna Be Special, ‘Daisy’ today winning her Irish crown.

Sean Delmar judged Group 8, finding his winner in Marianne and Tony Dunne’s Sh Ch Krisbos Hopsy Daisy. Second spot went to Laura Huston’s homebred Cocker Spaniel, Hustonia Trail Blazer.

Well known judge/exhibitor, Raymond O’Neill, famous for his Trendylook Pekingese, has recently returned to live in his native Ireland and was today judging his favourite Group 9. His winner of this strong and diverse group was the Tibetan Spaniel, Sharon O’Brien’s Ch & GB Ch Rosanley The Adonis At Torfness, ‘Buddy’ going on to BIS 3, with in second place, Ann Ingram and Kay Ryan’s Toy Poodle, Tirkane The Big Issue, 10 months old ‘Isak’ was the CC & BOB winner at 3 Counties and BPIB at Birmingham National.

Having a great day out at Deise was ‘Robin’, Lynda Matthews, Stephen Thomas and Don Foran’s Whippet, Ailesbury Fire Heart, only 11 months old he was runner-up today in Puppy Stakes and then went on to win Group 10 under James Byrnes and BIS 4 under Cathy Delmar. Runner-up in Group 10 under James was Walter Albert’s Borzoi, Scheztaya Trans-Europe Express.
