BIS judge John Hartigan choose the Best Baby Puppy in Show from all the BBP’ in breed just before BIS. John Hartigan’s winner was the Dobermann bitch, Tríona Ní Shé’s homebred Ruholfia Bardot, just 5 months old, with the Golden Retriever, Katrina Savage’s Weisford Linkenholt Tristar, reserve.

Champion Stakes winner was the Havanese, Julie Connolly’s BIS winning Ch & Int Ch Indio Vom Kapflesberg At Snazzipaws: Record breaking ‘Indi’ has an incalculable number of Green Stars and BOBs. Des Manton’s runner-up was the German Short Haired Pointer, Tom and Annie Mervyn’s Sh Ch Karlivar Dusky Rose.

Des Manton judged the Puppy Stakes, and from his shortlist he chose Jimmy Duggan’s homebred Siberian Husky, Leorient Ray Of Light, handled as ever by wife, Anita, to be his Puppy Stakes winner and thus the Déise representative at the POTY next Easter. Paul Keenan & Darren Griffin’s Boxer, Bessbox Eura Star, took his 3rd runner up rosette.

Group 1 was judged by Andrew Beare who gave the red rosette to T W Johansen’s Pem Corgi, Bull Ch Alex Av Quantos, handled by Justin Carroll; he was also the Swords Group winner. Brenda and Joe Doyle’s Shetland Sheepdog, homebred Ch Sevenoaks Gold Edition took second place.

Marie Thorpe,well known for her Ashaka Chihuahuas, judged Group 2 and she gave the top spot to Tracy Shelly’s Shar Pei, Ch Rozabaron Lord of Zaralee, DCC & BOB at Crufts this year, with Dione Fitzsimons’ Dobermann, Ch Fitzkin Eternal Elegance, runner-up, both taking a first group placing of the year.

Winner of Group 3 under Brendan Grace was the eventual BIS winning Lakeland Terrier, Mick Gavin’s Kebulak Lady Marmalade at Spinkeen, with Nolan’s Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Trufflestaff Black Warrior, taking the 2nd place.

Noel Beggs of the Everready Rottweilers judging the Dachshund of Group 4 where his winner was Gerry McFaul’s top winning Long Haired, Ch & GB Ch Dachville Special Blend. Seamus Dunne’s Miniature Wire Haired, Ch Hanishan Solitaire Jun Ch took 2nd repeating the Cork success.

Fiona Clarke (Icemist Samoyeds) from Carlow was ring centre for Group 5, her winner here being Brian Ahern’s American Akita, Ch Melodor Kaygeebe Jun Ch, following on from G4 at S Tipperary, with Joan Duffus’ Samoyed, American import, Ch & Am Ch McMagic’s the Candy Man of Pebbles Run, in 2nd spot.

Eamon Murray’s Beagle, homebred Ch Heathergrove Persian Warrior, topped Group 6 under Ann White (Abberann Glens). Group 2nd was the previous day’s BIS winning Basset Hound, Barry O’Neill and Sandra Stack’s Ch & GB Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy.

Jimmy Byrnes (Lackyle Staffords) chose the eventual Reserve BIS winning Irish Setter, Diane Stewart-Ritchie’s homebred Gwendariff Fizzy Pop as his winner, with second to Morag and David Connolly’s Weimaraner, Sh Ch Zilverein Got Me Mojo at Huntly Jun Ch.

Andrew Beare was ring centre again for Group 8, his winner here Katrina Savage’s Golden Retriever, Sh Ch Weisford Charlies Chocolate Factory. He gave Elton Mackey’s Spanish Water Dog, Tigidas Estrella del Mar, 2nd.

Nicky White (Aberann Glens) judged Group 9 and his winner was George and Georgina Corneille’s Tiberan Terrier, Finnish import, Falamandus One Kick Ahead with Lilasong, who won her title on the day. Second here was Tony Moran, Martenson, Dewaele & Lhote’s Japanese Chin, Touche’s Top Hat And Tails at Samskara.

Winning Group 10 under Andrew Beare was Carla Bollard O’Callaghan’s Afghan, Ch Ashahni Amir, currently top of the group on the ICP/Connolly’s Red Mills Leaderboard for this year. Second was Tim, Marion & Ian Finney’s Irish Wolfhound, homebred Gulliagh Aramis.
