As in now tradition, the Best in Show judge makes the decision as to who should be Best Baby Puppy in Show. Joan Walsh chose the American Akita, Craig Bannon and Niamh Carroll’s Cannonbar Stings Like A Bee, with the Lhasa Apso, Carmel Breen’s Bentarsna California Dreaming, runner-up.

Mick Drennan’s Champion Stakes winner was Jennifer Kealy’s Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Ch Dalstar Giselle, handled to victory by mum, Susan, with Billy & Josh Henderson and Ciaran & Ann-Marie Donnelly’s Dobermann, Ch & GB Ch Tuwos Hrana, handled by Billy, in second place.

The Junior Stakes, judged by Mick Drennan and generously sponsored by Allianz, were headed up by Catherine and Tina Broaders’ Lakeland Terrier, Brookside Aristocrat, with runner-up awarded to Clodagh Fallon’s Pug, Clodana Bellissima.

Judging the Puppy Stakes was Mike Drennan, his winner was Gillian and Carol Gibson’s Shih Tzu, Virtualvilage Vain; 9 months old ‘Sofie’. Chris Cathcart’s Lhasa Apso, Owenavera Wots It All About, bred by Stephen Lloyd, was in second place.

Topping the Veteran Stakes under Mick Drennan was Andrea Cleary’s 8 year old Rottweiler, Ch & GB Ch Cuchulain The Brave, with Pamela and Ryan Hunter’s 8 year old Whippet, Ch & GB Ch Mossbawnhill It’s All About Me, taking second place.

IKC CELTIC WINNERS '15 BRACE STAKES
Mike Drennan judged the Brace Stakes and his winners were the Afghan Hounds, Carla Bollard O’Callaghan’s Ch GB & Int Ch Ashahni Amir and Ashahni Celtic Fire. In the runner-up spot were the Cocker Spaniel’s Sh Ch Chavez Gaelic Connection at Forestpine and Forestpine A Real Dream to Behold, owned by Rev Brian O’Sullivan; Cindy & Gypsy and handled as ever by Brenda Rickard.

Heading up Group 1 under Teresa Owens was Geraldine Mulrooney’s Old English Sheepdog, Ch Bellablue Fellabreda, ‘Feile’ handled today by Seamus Keane. Awarded second place was the Douglas, Allan, and Harlow partnership’s Australian Shepherd Dog, Ch & Am Gr Ch Bayshore Stonehaven Cat Burglar; ‘Prowler’, handled by Tracey Douglas.

IKC CELTIC WINNERS '15 GROUP 2
The globetrotting All Breeds judge, Michael Forte, was centre ring for Group 2, sending forward the eventual RBIS winner, Willie and Mandy Dobbin’s Newfoundland, Ch, GB & DK Ch Brooklynbear Nijinsky, with Ann McDonald’s 12 months old Giant Schnauzer, Velournoir Beau Garcon, starting the year off in great style with second spot in this large group.

It was the Best in Show winning Miniature Bull Terrier, Ch, GB & Multi Int Ch Grasco’s Honky Tonky who progressed from Group 3 under yet another of Ireland’s All Breed judges, Anthony Kelly, whose choice for second place fell to Marianne Dunne’s Jack Russell Terrier, Ch Krisbos Franklin.

The Dachshunds in Group 4 were judged by Seamus Oates and his winner’s rosette went to Mary & Joe Allan and Mary Dick’s 5 year old Wire Haired Miniature, Ch & GIB Ch Alpheratz Francesco, with second place awarded to Gerry McFaul’s Standard Long, Gerry McFaul’s Ch & GB Ch Dachville Special Blend.

Group 5 was judged by Anita Foley Duggan whose victor was the BIS 3 winner, Stephen Minogue’s Japanese Shiba Inu, Jilltrain Jackpott, with second place going to Robert Greaves and Nicola and Will Croxford’s top winning Norwegian Elkhound, Ch & GB Ch Ennafort The One And Only, handled by Will.

Topping Group 6 under John Walsh, standing in for the incapacitated Rodney McDowell, was Barry O’Neill’s Basset Hound, Ch & GB Ch & CIE Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, with Michelle Keelan’s PBGV, Ch Afterglow Chunkey Monkey Of Tejas, handled by husband Ivor, taking second spot.

Madelene Rainey’s Group 7 winner was Diane Stewart-Ritchie’s Irish Setter, GB Sh Ch Gwendariff Whippersnapper, en route to BIS 4 with second spot going to the Welsh visiting Pointer, Perkins’ Kanix Fate Of Brent.

Heading up Group 8 under Brian Grace was Jenny Ward’s American Cocker Spaniel, GB Sh Ch Mischtikals Jorga On My Mind. G2 was Ralph Dunne’s 16 months old Clumber Spaniel, Richley Royale Bond.

Ronnie Fitzpatrick was centre ring for Group 9, sending through the 20 months old Papillon, Rei Usi’s Jap Ch Griffin JP Mary, making her debut in Ireland in the care of Sean Carroll, who handled him today, and James Newman. Into second place came Raymond O’Neill’s 15 months old Pekingese, Trendylook The Divine Garbo.

Topping Group 10 under John Walsh was Danielle Ritchie-Smith’s Whippet, Oakbark My Miracle, handled today by Kelly Lawless. In second spot was Gerry and Pauline Clarke’s Irish Wolfhound, Lady Rose Of Shantamon.
