The show season started in March with the annual IKC Celtic Winners show. The show, sponsored by GAIN PETFOODS. Best in Show under judge Maudie Burke was the Miniature Schnauzer, Paul Scanlon and Ashling Connolly's 13 months old Nujax Johnny Cash.

Winner of the Veteran Stakes under Stephen Hourihan was the Wire Fox Terrier, Catherine and Tina Broaders' Ch Crystalwire Solo of Brookside. Runner-up was Maureen and John Byrne's Tibetan Terrier, Imagine Talk of the Town with Siddhartha. Pictured with the winner is Ciara Watt of Gain Pet Foods, the main sponsors.

The Daschund Group 4 was won by Gerry McFaul's Standard Long Haired, Ch & GB Ch Dachville Special Blend. Judge, June Bollard, found her runner-up in Lesley Patton's Standard Wire Haired, Ch Bardings By The Way.

Winning Group 6 was Barry O'Neill's Basset Hound, Ch & GB Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy. Judge, Margaret O'Gorman awarding second place to the Bermingham family's Dalmatian, Ch Cannabee Casanova At Lornleer.

Judging Group 7 was Austin Long-Doyle whose winner was Seamus & Maura Gettings' German Wire Haired Pointer, Ch, Sh Ch & Int Ch Kimmax Krystal Klear Of Beechillawn, taking second place was the German Short Haired Pointer, David and Kath McLoughlin's Fieldfine Deja Brewing Up A Storm At Wingfield.

Best Irish Breed at IKC Celtic Winners under Nick Hammond, chosen from all the native breed BOBs, was the Kerry Blue, Richard Dalton, Philip O'Brien and Jarka Poulova's Ch Dalstar Il Divo. Runner-up was the Irish Wolfhound, Willie and Joanne Mullen's homebred Ch Broughadowey Tir Eoghain.

The Irish Canine Press/Royal Canin Veteran of the Year 2013, and a very clear winner at that, was Una Rigney's Kerry Blue Terrier, Ch & UK Ch Misty Blue Dawn at Arigna. Ten years of age and she is seen here with Una, Sean Delmar, IKC President who made the presentation of engraved crystal, Maria Collins of Royal Canin and Des Manton of Irish Canine Press.

Fresh from handling the Golden Retriever to his Group 2 win at Crufts, Emma Archibald had a party at IKC CW after the breed judging to celebrate 'Blue's' win. Celebrating this super win by Sh Ch Dan & Int Ch Ch Abinvale Traguardo, owned by Jeanette Filskov in Denmark, but back to his home kennel and breeders, Emma and her mum Bette and dad, Frank, are fellow gundog exhibitors who enjoyed a toast and nibbles, wishing Blue the luck of the Irish for his third CC.
IKC CELTIC WINNER '14 LYNDA'S PARTY
Having done just about all that a dog could do, Lynda Cuthbert Matthews and husband Colin's Whippet, Ch GB & Int Ch Collooney He's The One, has now been retired from the showring. Nine years old 'Brad' won groups as recently as '13 when he was also a player in the Veteran Stakes though shown on just a few occasions, and finished joint third for Veteran of the Year. A party in Brad's honour was held after the judging at IKC CW, a special cake and plenty of other goodies and bubbly was shares by friends and admirers. Pictured with the cake and the Veteran crystal are Lynda (centre), her mum, Ann Cuthbert and Stephen Minogue, who handles the family's Borzois.

The exhibitors from the Isle of Man never fail to amaze in their ability to shoiw, Winter or Summer, at the shows both in Ireland and GB, and once again they made it to the IKC Celtic Winners; Virginia Dowty is amongst the most regular from this tiny island to make the trip and she is see here with her Bolognese puppy, Clynymona Jo I'm Alone, which she bred and owns in partnership with co breeder, Kath Begg, and who was Best Baby Puppy in Breed.
