CORK '14 BEST IN SHOW
Cork BIS winner under judge, Ann Long-Doyle, was Colm and Rose Hastings' Old English Sheepdog bitch, Ch Lambluvs Sultry Secret, this being Vickie's 1st all breeds BIS win. Also a CC winner, she was Annual Ch '13 and topped the Group 1 ICP Leaderboard for 2013. At the IKC Showdog finals she won Group 1 and finished 5th overall. Reserve BIS went to David and Jacqui Benson's Bernese Mountain Dog, Ch & GB Ch Patrick De La Galea at Bernervalley, Irish Champion of Champions '13, and with 7 CCs to date, Patrick was twice BIS last year.

Ann Long Doyle also judged Best Baby Puppy In Show where her winner was David and Kathy McLoughlin’s Pointer Hipoint Nulli Seconda, five-month-old ‘Kimberley’ repeating her victory at Newtownards. Imported from Australia, she came with a BBPIS award already under her belt at a Pointer specialty in New South Wales under Frank Kane. Reserve went to Heanue and Hade’s Akita, Cannonbear Beautifull Knightmare, runner-up at Hibernian, another making her mark in the big ring.

Winning the Champion Stakes at Cork under judge Austin Long Doyle was David and Jackie Benson’s Bernese Mountain Dog Ch/GB/Int Ch Patrick de la Galea at Bernervalley, who as well as later in the day going RBIS, also won his ticket to the Champion of Champion final in January 2015, doubtless hoping to retain his crown gained this year. CORK '14 PUPPY STAKES
Austin Long Doyle judged the Puppy Stakes and his winner was Angela McNally’s Dobermann Icarus Wot A Thriller; imported from France. Ten-month-old ‘Pierre’ can now look forward to going to the Pup of the Year final. Taking the second place rosette was Paul, Jean and Kelly Lawless’ Groenendael Revloch Hocus Pocus, seven-months-old ‘Hanna’ already with two green stars.

Topping the brace stakes under Austin Long Doyle was Pat Foley’s duo of Rottweilers, Rosamic Bold Account at Zarimus and Rosamic Maximus Strength and Honour at Zarimus.

Juha Putkonen from Finland judged group 1, his winner being the eventual BIS-winning Old English Sheepdog, Colm and Rose Hastings’ Ch Lambluvs Sultry Secret, while Clare Burnett’s Bouvier des Flandres Ch Luik Fancy Nancy At Mon Cher, last year’s annual champion in the breed was second.

Winning group 2 under Finnish judge Irina Poletaeva was David and Jackie Benson’s Bernese Mountain Dog Ch/GB/Int Ch Patrick de la Galea At Bernervalley, who finished RBIS. Adele Kerrisk’s Shar-Pei Ch/Int Ch Chuanfa Compact at Qing Iverna, group winner at Munster Canine the previous day, was runner-up.

In group 3 Bart O’Regan found his winner in Elaine Butler’s Soft-coated Wheaten Ballysax Bertys Dream, last year’s BIS at the club show. Tony O’Brien’s Wire Fox Terrier Crystalwire Heart Breaker, taking his third green star, was in second place

Local judge Stephanie Walsh, better known for her Shih Tzu and American Cocker Spaniels, was going over the Dachshunds of group 4 and coming out on top was Gerry McFaul’s multiple CC and group-winning Longhaired bitch Ch/GB Ch Dachville Special Blend, ‘Jill’ currently top of the ICP Leaderboard for the third year running, with Peter and Caroline Wheatland’s Miniature Smooth Pinedax Kiss The Stars second.

Dave Lawlor, well known president of Killarney on the Irish Circuit, was in charge in group 5 and he chose a new face for top honours in the shape of Gail and Eddie Patterson’s Basenji Ch Her Majesty Out of Africa at Rocksham, a first group win for her. Maureen and Brian Carroll’s Keeshond Ch/Int Ch Arctic Kees Best Kept Secret took another group placing with second spot
CORK '14 GROUP 6
Billy Boardman (Portsann Dalmatians, Japanese Spitz and American Cockers) had to choose the winner of group 6 and it was Eamon Murray’s Beagle puppy dog Heathergrove Keats who caught his eye and took the red rosette en route to BIS4. Runner-up went to Ivor and Michelle Keelan’s Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen Ch Afterglow Chunkey Monkey of Tejas, a regular winner in this group and currently second on the ICP Leaderboard.

Cocker Spaniel man Les Chambers judged group 7 and his winner was Sinead Taggart’s Hungarian Vizsla Sh Ch Bitcon Card Tricks for Cooley, who went on to BIS3. Second was Diane Stewart-Ritchie’s Irish Setter GB Sh Ch Gwendariff Whippersnapper, just back from Southern Counties where he won his sixth CC and was G2 there also.

Jimmy Byrnes, probably better known for his Lackyle Staffordshire Bull Terriers, was judging group 8 and he found his winner in the American Cocker Spaniel Mygillie Crime Of Passion, owned by Colm Beattie, Teresa Lynch and her daughter Joanna and handled by Colm with whom he lives and who prepares him. ‘Dude’ was BBPIS in show at ILKA last July, has four green stars and this was his debut to top honours in the group ring. Second was Orlagh Murray’s Golden Retriever Rathcloon Peaches N Cream.

Peter Jolley was over from England and he oversaw group 9, giving the red rosette to the Pug Gimili What The Heck Happened, owned by Joanne Dobson and handled by Ian May, with Lee Grogan taking second place with his Japanese Chin Axelwood Karmin, a first entry to group honours for both these dogs.

All-breeds judge Claire Anne Ahern, best known for her Pipistrelle Papillons, judged group 10 where her winner was the Afghan Hound, Carla Bollard O’Callaghan’s Ch/GB/Int Ch Ashahni Amir, ‘Caleb’ a multiple group and BIS winner and several times top of the ICP Leaderboard, with second to Stephen Minogue, Lynda and Colin Cuthbert Matthews’ Borzoi Ch/Int Ch Donsjkoi Asmodey, another no stranger to group and BIS honours.
