CORK '13 BEST IN SHOW
Mary Searson had a quality line-up to choose from but she wasted no time in going over the contenders, eventually giving the nod to Ashling Connolly’s Bichon, ‘Beau’; aka Ch & GB & Int Ch Ashmair Double Act, taking his first BIS this year, though he is a multi group and BIS winner since his puppyhood. Reserve best in Show was the Beagle, Eamon Murray’s Davricard Mitchell of Heathergrove. This was young Andy’s first group, and he was best Puppy in Show at the big Navan open event under GB judge, Diane Sadler earlier in the year.

CORK '13 BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW
As is now traditional, Best Baby Puppy in Show was judged by the BIS judge, usually the only other task they have on the day and Mary Searson chose the young Basset bitch, Barry O’Neill’s ‘Blondie’, Dereheath Highlight with Dearduenna; what a way to kick start her career. Runner up was the Coton De Tulear, Peter Summersgill and Bernie Doherty’s homebred Clanlee Miss Mischievous.

CORK '13 CHAMPION STAKES
Topping the Champion Stakes under Joyce Crawford-Manton was the Basset Hound, Barry O’Neill’s Ch & GB Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, multi group and BIS winner.
CORK '13 PUPPY STAKES
Topping the Puppy Stakes under Joyce Crawford-Manton from an entry of 41, was the Border Collie, David and Morag Connolly’s Tonkory Gold Digger at Huntly.
CORK '13 VETERAN STAKES
The Veteran Stakes saw Una Rigney’s Kerry Blue Terrier, Ch & GB Ch Misty Blue Dawn at Arigna, adding more points to the Royal Canin/ICP Top Veteran Leaderboard, under Joyce Crawford-Manton.
CORK '13 GROUP 1
Ring centre for Group 1 was well known International all breeds judge Ann Cuthbert, who gave the nod to Patricia Kavanagh and Eoin Fleetwood’s Bearded Collie ‘Oscar’, Ch Firstprizebears JohnFK. A Dutch import, he was taking his first group this year though he won the group at ILKA last year and was 2nd at Tralee. He was to go on later to take Best in Show at the Bearded Collie Club Ch Show, held at the same venue. A delighted Geraldine Mulrooney claimed the rosette for 2nd with her young OES, homebred Bellablue Lolabreda, who was also Celtic Winner ’13.
CORK '13 GROUP 2
Des Manton judged Group 2, and he found his winner in the Newfoundland, Willie and Mandy Dobbin’s Ch & GB Ch Brooklynbear Nijinsky, a multi group and BIS winner, his most recent top award was at Newtownards, just a few weeks back. He was expertly handled as ever by ‘Young Willie’. Des’ 2nd spot went Jean Cullen’s Dobermann, Ch Tuwos Impeccable, handled by co-breeder Josh Henderson.
CORK '13 GROUP 3
The Bull Terrier, Ch Megaville Plenty More, owned by Ger and Laura Cox won Group 3 under Ann Cuthbert, his first Group win this year though he was 2nd at Fermoy International. Runner up was Ross Delmar’s BIS winning Smooth Fox Terrier, Ch Int Ch Shillelagh Smooth Operator, a regular at the top of the groups.
CORK '13 GROUP 4
Group 4 was judged by Stephen Hourihan, here Michael Crowley’s young bitch, Eleanors Surprise at Donnamarc, who is not yet 8 months old, collected the red rosette, whilst Gerry McFaul’s Long Haired, Ch & GB Ch Dachville Special Blend, was the runner up.
CORK '13 GROUP 5
The judge for Group 5 was Johnny Muldoon, and his winner gave a first top win to the Alaskan Malamute, James Clarges and his daughter’s Lueldar The Warlock at Chanlow, with Ralph and Sue Holmes’ Siberian Husky, homebred Suraliam All Hail The King, in 2nd, also a first group placing for this dog and handled by Ralph.
CORK '13 GROUP 6
Ralph Dunne was overseeing the Group 6 dogs and his winner here was the Beagle, Eamon Murray’s young Davricard Mitchell of Heathergrove, ‘Andy’ going on to Reserve Best in Show. He chose Eddie and Gail Patterson’s Rhodesian Ridgeback, Ch Rocksham Kimweri, for 2nd place.

Des Manton was ring centre for the gundogs of Group 7 and his winner was Tom and Annie Mervyn’s German Short Haired Pointer, Sh Ch Kalivar Dusky Rose at Tomanipoint, her fourth group this year and second in succession. Diane Stewart-Ritchie handled her homebred Irish Setter, Gwendariff Gonna Be Special, owned in partnership with Ruth Longbottom and her Mum, to take the 2nd rosette.
CORK '13 GROUP 8
Brian Moran judged Group 8 and his winner was Emma, Bette and Frank Archibald’s homebred Golden Retriever, Sh Ch Abinvale The Aviator, ‘Denver’also won the group here last year: he topped the breed for 2012 when he also won the group at IKC International. Mags and Monica Boardman’s American Cocker, Am Ch PBJ’s All That Bling, their latest American import, took Group 2nd, handled and prepared as ever by Monica.
CORK '13 GROUP 9
It was the BIS winning Bichon Frise, Ashling Connolly’s Ch & GB Ch Ashmair Double Act, who won Group 9 under well known CKCS breeder, Heather Lamont who gave Group 2nd to Sally and Sean Burns and Mary & Val Coghlan’s Toy Poodle, homebred Ch Valentine Something Special.
CORK '13 GROUP 10
Group 10 winner was Gerry and Pauline Clarke’s Irish Wolfhound, Ch Roxanne of Shantamon, group winner at Hibernian and last year she was BIS at Sligo and won the group at ILKA. She is Ireland’s representative at this year’s Eukanuba Challenge in America, having won the IKC Top Showdog finals in February. Second place under judge Eric Liebes from the USA went to Carla Bollard–O’Callaghan with her Afghan Hound, Ch & GB Ch Ashahni Amir, group winner at Munster Canine.
Bearded Collie club of Ireland '13 BIS
The Bearded Collie club of Ireland held their breed Championship show in conjunction with Cork All Breeds Show and winning Best in Show under Johnny Muldoon, was Patricia Kavanagh and Eoin Fleetwood’s Ch Firstprizebears JohnJFK Jun Ch, who also won Group 1 at Cork Ch Show, so it was a great day for these Galway based exhibitors.
