Best in Show judge was Stephen Minogue, who was judging at this level for the first time. He chose for his winner, Cara Davani and Cathy Neill’s Kerry Blue Terrier, Ch Kebulak Dirty Harry Jun Ch; 2 year old ‘Harry’, bred by Cara, has recently come to Ireland to stay to be campaigned by Cathy and today finished his Irish Title; today was the culmination of a great run, CC, BOB and G4 at SKC, followed up by G1 at Newtownards and now going all the way to BIS. Reserve BIS, his 3rd in a row, was James Newman’s Papillon, Ch, GB, Ger, Slov & Int Ch Denemore Iconsruben, IKC Dog of the Year 2011, and he was following up on his similar awards recently at Newtownards and Hibernian and of course, BIS at Combined International.

CORK '12 BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW
Cork BIS judge, Stephen Minogue, had the pleasant task of selecting Best Baby Puppy in Show from the Best Baby Puppy in Breed winners and his choice fell to Kerrie and Katie Kelly’s 5 ½ months old PBGV, Soletrader Icey You With Kmai, handled byKatie, this year’s Irish Junior Handler representative at Crufts. Runner-up on her show debut was Joyce and Des Manton’s OES, Bellablue Bewitched by Scallywag, 4 months and 2 days old ‘Bubble’ handled by Des.
CORK '12 CHAMPION STAKES
Sean Carroll’s judged the Champion Stakes and his winner was Lynda Cuthbert Matthews & husband Colin’s Borzoi, Ch Donskoi Asmodey, BIS winner last year at Bull Breeds Ch show, and today booking a return ticket to the Champions Finals early next year. Runner-up was Jimmy Duggan’s Siberian Husky, Ch Bedarra Cold Paws Warm Heart for Leorient, handled by wife Anita, BIS at Munster Canine the previous day.
CORK '12 PUPPY STAKES
The Puppy Stakes were judged by Séan Carroll and topping the 44 entries in the Puppy Stakes was Moira Grant Cook’s homebred Pug, Kerronmor Tinie Tempah, handled by husband, Ronnie, ‘T-Bone’ today celebrating his 9 months old birthday and adding to his successes at Combined where he was BPIB , Fermoy BPIB and PG 3 and he was BPIS at Limerick Open and RBPIS at Tralee Open. Taking second spot under Sean was John Canty’s Lakeland Terrier, Chelines Hot Thing.
CORK '12 VETERAN STAKES
The Veteran Stakes were judged by Sean Carroll, he gave the top spot to was Lyn Appleby, John Minchin & Jane Edwards’ Afghan Hound, Ch Kazdanabad Karlo Rossi, with Sue and Ralph Holmes’ Siberian Husky, Ch & Int Ch Suraliam I Rest My Case, in second place. There were just two exhibits here; unfortunately one other missed the announcement.

Noreen Clarke, popular Secretary of Carlow show, judged Group 1 where her winner was Frances Toman’s Pembroke Corgi, Ch Marshmere Noble Peer at Manto Jun Ch, stepping up from G3 at Munster and at Fermoy, with Joyce & Des Manton’s Australian Shepherd Dog, Ch & Int Ch Hopscotch Del Whymper Delle G. Jorasses, Best in Show at Newtownards onanother wet day, handled as usual by Des, in second spot.

Noreen Clarke was the judge for Group 2, choosing Tríona Ní Shé’s Dobermann, Ch Farentino Wot A Thriller at Ruholfia Jun Ch, as her winner; ‘Tino’ with 2 CCs was also the group winner at Combined this year and went on to BIS 4 today. Noreen’s runner-up rosette was awarded to Doyle’s Great Dane, Ballyfrawley Sweet Child O Mine, a first group placing.

Nic Lemo from Croatia judged Group 3, finding his winner in the eventual BIS winning Kerry Blue Terrier, Cara Davani and Cathy Neill’s Ch Kebulak Dirty Harry Jun Ch, gaining his Irish title on the day, with Toth’s Scottish Terrier, Ch Happy Birthday Du Moulin De McMonique, being campaigned in Ireland by Mich Dale & Stuart Cooper, in second place.

Séan Knight, judged all the Dachshunds in Group 4 and his group winner was Gerry McFaul’s, Long Haired Dachshund, Dachville Classical Blend, yet another top winner from this kennel, already a CC winner, she recently took the group at South Tipperary.. Seamus Dunne’s 2 year old Miniature Wire Haired, Ch Hanishan Solitaire Jun Ch, took her seventh group placing in second spot.

Sunsica Lazic from Serbia was ring centre for Group 5, finding her winner in Jimmy Duggan’s Siberian Husky, Ch Bedarra Cold Paws Warm Heart for Leorient Jun Ch, handled as always by wife Anita, and fresh from his BIS success the previous day at Munster Canine; what a great weekend for Anita and ‘Flint’. Runner-up under Sunsica was Maureen & Brian Carroll’s Keeshond, Ch Arctic Kees Best Kept Secret, the group winner recently at South Tipperary.

Topping Group 6 under judge Marie Bailey was Gail & Eddie Patterson’s Rhodesian Ridgeback, Ch Rocksham Kimweri, anotherdog having a great weekend as he was stepping up from G2 the previous day at Munster Canine, reversing roles with the previousday’s winner, Eamon Murray’s Beagle, Ch Heathergrove Persian Warrior.

Croatian judge Nic Lemo was ring centre again, this time for the gundogs of Group 7 where his winner was Seamus and Maura Gettings’ German Wire Haired Pointer, Sh Ch & Int Sh Ch Kimmax Krystal Klear of Beechillawn, ‘Krys’ a group regular was still flying after her Champion Stakes victory the previous day. Runner-up under Nic Lemo was Jim & Karen Gibson’s 21 months old homebred Weimaraner, Zilverein Shabby Chic, handled to a first group placing of the year by Jim.

Liam Moran was centre ring for the gundogs of Group 8 and here Emma, Frank & Bette Archibald’s Golden Retriever, Abinvale The Aviator Jun Ch went on to take top honours, a first group win for both dog ‘Denver’ and handler,Emma. Second was WendyBentley’s English Springer Spaniel, Int Sh Ch Wenark Wisper Wishes Jun Ch, who was Euro junior winner in ’09, the same year she took her Celtic Winner title and was Annual Champion.

Ger Cox judged Group 9, awarding the rosette to James Newman’s top winning Papillon, Ch, GB, Ger, Slov & Int Ch Denemore Iconsruben who went on to consolidate his lead position in the race for IKC Dog of the Year 2012 with RBIS. Ashling Connolly’s Bichon Frise, Ch Ashmair Double Act Jun Ch, the BIS winner recently at Fermoy International, was Ger’s runner-up; 2 CCs currently to Beau’s credit.

Dick McCoy returned home from Spain to judge at Cork, his final task of the day to judge Group 10, where his winner was, Lynda and Colin Cuthbert Matthews’ Borzoi, Ch Donskoi Asmoday, handled earlier in the day by Aisling Robertson to also win the Champion Stakes; his usual handler being Stephen Minogue, today’s BIS judge, so ‘Louis’ was given a warm reception later in the BIS ring when he did a lap of honour before retiring. Group 2nd under Dick was Carla Bollard O’Callaghan’s top winning Afghan, Ch Ashahni Amir, extending his big lead at the head of the ICP Top Winners Leaderboard.
