Brenda Banbury's final winner, the Afghan Hound Ch & Int Ch Davashey To Tell The Truth, owned by Lyn Appleby, John Minchin, Jayne Edwards and Mary Mulvaney, who has handled him to all his wins over the last couple of years. ‘Kayto’ qualified for the final under Simon Rooney at Kilkenny in June. He took the group at Portadown early in ’15, and again at Bangor in September where he finished BIS under Dr Cristian Vantu from Romania, ending the year with another win at Bull Breeds which, together with his other group placings, qualifies him for the Irish Kennel Club Top Showdog final.

The hard working committee of Dublin Dog Show Society who, just five days after running their all breed championship show, hosted the Champion of Champions final. A totally thrilled Scarlett Burnside handled the Alaskan Malamute Ch Libertia Reggae Master to Reserve Champion of Champions

The Alaskan Malamute Ch Libertia Reggae Master was bred by Peri Burnside and is owned by daughter Scarlett who handles him, and husband Mark. He won his ticket to the final by qualifying at Killarney on the Munster Circuit under Margaret O’Gorman of the Parkpoint Pointers and secretary of Clonmel. He won group 5 at IKC international one in October, taking G2 the next day at IKC international two, and was third at DDSS on December 28. A totally thrilled Scarlett handled him to Reserve Champion of Champions later in the evening. They are seen with Jackie Stubbs of sponsor Happy Dog and vice-chairman Chris Hancock.

The Basset Hound Ch, GB & Int Ch Knockogue Arthur’s Legacy, bred and owned by Barry O’Neill, qualified at Combined Canine Club international under well known Irish and Irish Red and White Setter breeder Trudy Walsh (Ardbraccan). He has headed the group 6 Leaderboard for several years now and has eight CCs together with his many BIS and some 80 group wins. This year alone he has taken 21 groups, with BIS at South Tipperary and RBIS at Portadown, Hibernian, Limerick and Cloghran. ‘Arthur’ was selected for the final six on the night.

The Newfoundland Ch & GB Ch Morrelham Highland Park, owned and handled by Caroline Morrell, travelled from England to win his Irish crown. He qualified at the Combined Canine Club national under Australian Carole Mulcahy. He was BIS at Cork in June and continued to the last six on the night.

The Papillon Ch, Ger, Cz & Int Ch Hundebudens Juno Pondabudens, owned by Sean Carroll and James Newman qualified at Newtownards under Moira Grant Cook of the Kerronmor Pugs and French Bulldogs, and went through to the last six here. Winner of CC, BOB and G3 at Belfast last September, he also has three RCCs. ‘Juno’ was BIS at the IKC international one and BIS3 on day two and took group 9 on five occasions in 2015.

The Toy Poodle Ch Grayco Splash The Cash, owned by breeder Lesley Howard, Mary Coghlan and Sally Burns who prepares and handles him, was Rita McCarry Beattie’s choice for the champion stakes at IKC international two. ‘Geoffrey’ was the group 9 winner at South Tipperary, the IKC Summer Show where he was BIS4, and Tralee, where he finished BIS3. Geoffrey proceeded to the last six here.

The Dobermann Ch, GB, Dutch, Lux & Int Ch Farentino Wot A Thriller at Ruholfia finished in the final 12. Owned and handled by Triona Ní She, he qualified at Munster Canine under Sean Knight of the Mynight Airedales. He was the group 2 winner at Limerick and was third at Irish Ladies Kennel Association.

The Golden Retriever Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Abinvale The Aviator, bred and owned by Frank and Bette Archibald and daughter Emma who handles him, was in the last 12, sent on from the champion stakes at Bull Breeds by Stephen O’Brien of the Sheol Hounds and Gundogs. ‘Denver’ won his UK crown in 2015 in fine style, one of his CCs being at the Joint Breed Clubs’ show where he was BIS. A previous BIS winner at home, he has two groups in ’15.

The Japanese Shiba Inu Ch Jiltrain Jackpott, owned and handled by Stephen Minogue, qualified at Cloghran under James Newman of the Belliver Poms and Denemore Papillons. ‘Jack’ hit the Irish show ring with a bang, taking the Pup of the Year ‘14 title in style last Easter after winning his first group and BIS3 at IKC Celtic Winners. He went on to take BIS at Hibernian in May, with another group win at Tralee. ‘Jack’ featured highly in most groups throughout the year leaving him top of group 5 and going to the IKC Showdog final. He ended up in the final 12 here.

Siberian Husky Ch, GB & Int Ch Bedarra Cold Paws Warm Heart for Leorient, owned by Jimmy Duggan and handled by wife Anita Foley Duggan, qualified at Irish Ladies Kennel under Lyn Appleby, coincidently one of the owners of the overall winner. ‘Flint’ has enjoyed a great show career, being a multiple group and BIS winner and in 2015 he won nine groups, taking RBIS at Munster Canine, Deise, Sligo, Coleraine and Bull Breeds and BIS3 at DDSS. He also has enjoyed success abroad, Amsterdam Winner this year being a happy hunting ground for him with a CACIB and BOB at the Holland Cup and a double CACIB from the winners. At time of writing he has just clinched his Dutch title with RBIS at Eindhoven. He was in the final 12 for the final.

The Tibetan Terrier Ch, Fin, Dan & Int Ch Falamandus One Kick Ahead with Lilasong, owned by George and daughter Georgina Corneille, qualified at Bray under Angela McNally of the Assisi Dobermanns and Min Pins. A well-travelled little lady, ‘Mia’ was bred in Finland, came to Ireland and won her crown, went back to Finland on holiday to take her Scandanavian titles and then back home to Killarney. She was selected for the final 12.

The Hungarian Vizsla Sh Ch, GB Sh Ch & Lux Ch Bitcon Card Tricks for Cooley, owned by Sinead Taggart, qualified at Dun Laoghaire under Ned Burke of the Sandwood gundogs. Multiple CC-winning ‘Rafa’ won group 7 at Bangor where he finished BIS, and again at Bull Breeds and has three G2. He clinched his Dutch title at Amsterdam Winner in December, where he went on to take third in group 7. He was in Brenda’s final 12.
