From the ten group winners sent through by the international panel of judges, his choice for BIS fell to the Smooth Fox Terrier, Ross Delmar and Ewa Lunden’s Multi/Int Ch Residensets Stand-In, four-year-old ‘Stanley’ taking his fourth BIS award this year. RBIS was Gerry and Pauline Clarke’s Irish Wolfhound Ch Lady Rose of Shantamon, four-year-old homebred ‘Lady’ the latest in a long line of top winners from this kennel.

Paul Scanlon’s Best Baby Puppy In Show winner, selected from the best baby puppy in breed winners, was Katherina Savage’s four-month-old Golden Retriever Weisford Trials And Tribulations with RBBPIS awarded to Roy and Lesley Blevins’ four-month-old Basset Hound Blevwil Question Being.

Taking charge of the Stakes Classes was Mervyn Webb. Topping the Puppy Stakes and qualifying for the Combined Canine Club/Royal Canin Pup of the Year Final next Easter was Lynda and Colin Matthews’ seven-month-old Whippet Ailesbury Rebel Rebel.

Runner-up spot in the Puppy Stakes was taken by Brenda and Joe Doyle’s nine-month-old Shetland Sheepdog Sevenoaks Black Karma.

Heading the Junior Stakes under Mervyn Webb was Sean Knight’s 14-monthold Airedale Terrier Kenquince Marlowe at Mynight with second place taken by Mandy Moore’s ten-month-old Leonberger Lempileijonan Aito Suomileijona.

Mervyn Webb’s Champion Stakes winner was Sharon O’Brien’s Tibetan Spaniel Ch, GB & Int Ch Rosanley The Adonis at Torfness, ‘Buddy’ the BIS winner in 2014 at Hibernian, Kilkenny and Monkstown and BOB at Crufts the same year, while runner-up was Barry O’Neill’s Basset Hound Ch, GB & Int Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, ‘Arthur’ later going on to BIS4.

Carla Bollard O’Callaghan’s Afghan Hound Ch, GB & Int Ch Ashahni Amir, ‘Caleb’, strengthened his position at the top of the Irish Canine Press/Royal Canin Veteran Leaderboard with victory in the Veteran Stakes under Mervyn Webb, while second place was awarded to ‘Sue’ Colm and Rose Hasting’s Old English Sheepdog Ch, Am Gr Ch, GB & Int Ch Lambluvs Live The Dream.

The Brace Stakes at Clonmel under Mervyn Webb was won by the Dalmatians, Stuart Pearson and Carole Dodds’ Kelevra What The Dickens and Ch & GB Ch Kelevra Classic Cliché, with Lindsay Belcher’s Italian Spinone pairing of Hastabbi Tropicana at Sosteli and Sh Ch & Int Sh Ch Netis Rock With You at Sosteli in second spot.

Karen Rimmer’s team of Parson Russell Terriers topped the Team Stakes under Mervyn Webb with Lamb and Saltmarsh’s Cairn Terriers in second place.

South African judge Lois Wilson was in charge of Group 1 and her winner, David and Morag Connolly’s Border Collie Sh Ch Nahrof Blurred Lines at Huntly, went on to BIS3. Runner-up was Grainne Keeling’s ten-month-old Shetland Sheepdog Kishdigra Conquer The Heavens.

Finnish judge Saija Juutilainen’s Group 2 winner was Paddy Galvin and Gordon Cutts’ Newfoundland GB Ch Kenmau Break The Mould Merrybear. Runner-up was Tracey Shelley’s Shar-Pei Ch Loupei’s Satisfy Your Soul.

Ross Delmar and Ewa Lunden’s Smooth Fox Terrier Multi Ch Residensets Stand-In, who finished the day winning BIS, was the Group 3 winner under Irish judge Billy Blount, whose runner-up slot was taken by Ger and Laura Cox’s 22-month-old Miniature Bull Terrier Spitewinter Mentobe.

Heading the Dachshunds in Group 4 under Swedish judge Sven Frisk was Karen Weir’s Kaninchen Smooth Dutch Ch Zimerbude Yantarnaya Kapelka, while runner-up was the Miniature Wire, Sharon Shone’s Phantasia Lady, over on a trip from England.

Paul McCulloch’s Group 5 winner saw a first group victory of the year for Marie Corr’s six-year-old German Spitz Klein Ch, GB & Int Ch Crystalclear Working On A Dream with second spot occupied by Sean Carroll and James Newman’s 14-month-old Pomeranian Belliver Kiss The Stars.

Irish all-breeds judge Dick McCoy’s Group 6 winner, Barry O’Neill’s Basset Hound Ch, GB & Int Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, went on later in the day to take BIS4. In second place was Paul McDermott’s Foxhound Waterview Valley.

Dick McCoy also judged Group 7 where his winner was Tom and Annie Mervyn’s German Shorthaired Pointer, multi BIS winning Sh Ch Tomanipoint Celtic Knight, ‘Rory’ the recent BIS winner at Coleraine just before the Circuit. In second place was Jim and Karen Gibson’s nine-month-old Weimaraner Zilverein Strike A Pose In Vogue.

Japanese judge Sumiko Ikeda was centre ring for Group 8, awarding top spot to the American Cocker Spaniel, Ivor and Michelle Keelan’s Ch Bunnybois Brainstorm At Tejas. Runner-up was Sharon Henesey’s Flat-coated Retriever Swantonwood Lowry at Wrensmead.

Topping Group 9 under Irish all-breeds judge Vincent O’Brien was Sally and Sean Burns and Mary and Val Coghlan’s Standard Poodle Ch Dinasti The Libertine Afterglow, ‘Bert’ the BIS winner at Celtic Winners this year. In second place was Caryn Coogan and Liz Juverud’s Pug Tangetoppen’s Troublemaker.
