The Best In Show judge at Clonmel 2015 was Evelyn Hurley, her choice falling to the Golden Retriever bitch, Emma Archibald’s Sh Ch Abinvale Mystic River. 'Tegan', bred and owned in partnership with her parents Bette and Frank, had earlier won the breed under Malaysian multi-group judge Gopi Krishnan and the group under Maria Ceccarelli from Italy. Tegan is one of three Abinvales to have won groups this year. RBIS under Evelyn was the Shih Tzu Windpaws Jewel In The Eyes, Swiss bred and co-owned by Sebastien Faurite, Stephen Thomas and Tom Kiernan who handled 16-month-old ‘Randy’ who was made up on the day, topping the breed under Rita Walker from Canada, then the group under Alberto Cuccillato from Italy.

CLONMEL '15 PUPPY STAKES
Taking charge of the stakes classes was all-breeds judge Johnny Muldoon, and taking top spot in the puppy stakes was Cathrina Dunne’s Shetland Sheepdog Yagodka at Longrange S Egerskoy Slobody, eight-month-old ‘Ava’ a Russian import on her first weekend out. Runner-up was Connie Hazeltine and Sue Welch’s Pointer Just Wilburt, ten-month-old ‘Wilburt’ recently BPIB at Bournemouth.

Heading the champion stakes under Johnny Muldoon was Paul Scanlon and Ashling Connolly’s Miniature Schnauzer Ch Nujax Johnny Cash, a great day for ‘Cash’ as he later went on to win group 2 before finishing up the day as BIS3. Runner-up was Susan White and Sarah Jackson’s Maltese Ch Benatone Rings Of Gold.
CLONMEL '15 VETERAN STAKES
Sally Tonks and Dione Fitzsimons’ nine-year-old Pyrenean Mountain Dog Ch, GB & Int Ch Shanlimore The Maverick increased his lead at the top of the Royal Canin/ICP Veteran Leaderboard with victory at Clonmel under Johnny Muldoon. In second place was Iris Handcock’s eight-year-old Samoyed Ch & Int Ch Sirinna Simply Scrumptious, handled by Gerard Smith.
CLONMEL '15 BRACE STAKES
Brace stakes winner under Johnny Muldoon was Stuart Pearson and Carole Dodds’ Dalmatians Kelevra What The Dickens and Kelevra Classic Cliché, with Tina Westwood’s Duck Toller duo Littleriver’s O’Canada to Eusanit and Eusanit Apple Of One’s Eye in second place.
CLONMEL '15 TEAM STAKES
The team stakes was won by Barbara and Ken Attwood’s team of Welsh Springer Spaniels with Steve and Sue Bale’s Pembroke Corgis in second place.

Malaysian judge Gopi Krishnan was in charge in the group 1 ring where he found his winner in the Groenendael, Jean, Paul and Kelly Lawless’ Ch & GB Ch Revloch Figo, handled as ever by Kelly. Runner-up went to David and Morag Connolly and Judith Gregory’s Border Collie Sh Ch Tonkory Gold Digger.

Ring centre for group 2 was Irish all-breeds judge Vincent O’Brien, whose choice was Ashling Connolly and Paul Scanlon’s Miniature Schnauzer Ch Nujax Johnny Cash, en route to BIS3, with Belinda and Joe Lyons’ Russian Black Terrier Ch Kalaslane Kick Ass taking his fourth group placement this year in the runner-up spot.

Topping the terriers of group 3 under Malgorzata Zakrzewska from Poland was the Soft-coated Wheaten, Eithne Brady’s Macfinn Magneto, 16-month-old ‘Eric’ handled by Richard Dalton, today winning his second BOB. Second place went to Ewa Lunden and Ross Delmar’s top winning Smooth Fox Terrier Ch/Sw/Norw/Dan/Int Ch Residentsets Stand-In, recently BIS at Monkstown.

GB breed specialist Wendy Hall judged the Dachshunds of group 4, giving the red rosette to Martin McDonnell’s Miniature Longhaired Smartdac Rising Phoenix, nine-month-old ‘Phoenix’ already with a G2 and G4, handled to victory by Suzanne Jamison, with Claire Bethel and Debbie Gaskin’s Smooth Russian import Sobahli Sham Prezent President to Hampdach in second spot, 19-month-old ‘Olly’ winning his first green star.

The Keeshond, Maureen and Brian Carroll’s Ch & Int Ch Lyntova Legend Has It won group 5 under Kenneth Chuah from Malaysia, with second spot going to the Samoyed Est Ch Smiling Snowball Russian Emperor at Samoravich, owned by Charlotte Craig, Gary Scobell and Kristie Uspenski.
CLONMEL '15 GROUP 6
Canadian Rita Walker made the final decisions in group 6, and gave yet another group to the Basset Hound Ch, GB & Int Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, owned by Barry O’Neill. Arthur is top of the Gain Petfoods/Irish Canine Press/Dog World group 6 Leaderboard for the third year. Faye Clarke’s Dalmatian Klarkeson One Vision was second, ‘Murphy’ winning for the second day in a row.

Kenneth Chuah was back in the ring to oversee group 7 and his winner was Jim and Karen Gibson’s Weimaraner Sh Ch Zilverein Oops I Forgot My Boots, ‘Pinky’ following up her group victory at Coleraine the previous week. Diane Ritchie-Stewart’s Irish Setter Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Gwendariff Whippersnapper was runner-up.

The eventual BIS-winning Golden Retriever, Emma, Bette and Frank Archibald’s Sh Ch Abinvale Mystic River, was the choice of Maria Ceccarelli to top group 8 and she gave the second rosette to Jenny Ward’s American Cocker Spaniel Finndain Dans With My Fartha at Mischtikals, 20-month-old ‘Charlie’ with two CCs and three RCCs winning his sixth GS.

Alberto Cuccillato judged group 9 and sent through the eventual RBIS-winning Shih Tzu Windpaw Jewel In The Eyes, owned by Tom Kiernan, Stephen Thomas and Sebastien Faurite. Tracey Holmes handled her Pug Golbourne Junjie, owned with her husband Dave and Ken and Richard Morgan-Stanley, to G2.
CLONMEL '15 GROUP 10
Jim Fletcher handled his and Viv Coulter’s Whippet Ch Collooney Swings Both Ways to win group 10 under Rita Walker, ‘Luca’ the group and BIS4 winner at Hibernian in May. Runner-up was Breda Dunne’s Azawakh Awals’s Shi-Senti, imported from the Netherlands; this was a second G2 placing for this ‘rare’ breed in Ireland, the first coming at Sligo in July.
