CLONMEL '12 BEST IN SHOW
Seamus Oates, well know some years ago for his top winning St Bernards and Bulldogs, but who now spends as much time abroad judging, as he does at home, was BIS judge elect at Clonmel. From the ten group winners, he shortlisted to four, and then declared that the Clonmel 2012 Best in Show winner was Eamon Murray’s homebred Beagle, Ch Heathergrove Persian Warrior; ‘Tyler’ today winning his second all breed BIS and also his 28th Group. The Reserve BIS winner needs little introduction; James Newman’s Pomeranian, Ch, GB & CIB Ch Belliver The Ultimate Creation has been a consistent Group and BIS winner.

Best Baby Puppy in Show is now traditionally decided the best in Show judge, and at Clonmel Seamus Oates has a wide variety of breeds to chose from. He finally shortlisted eight babies for further consideration, eventually giving the nod to Kieran Behan’s Chow Chow, Mingfield Close Call, handled as ever by dad, Philip. Runner up was Clare Burnett’s Bouvier Des Flandres, Mon Cher Taurus.

Joan Duffus’ Samoyed, Ch & Am Ch McMagic’s The Candy Man Of Pebbles Run, took the Champion Stakes under Wal Westren, ‘Manny’ with a good collection of groups and placings, as well as previous stakes wins. Runner up here was Pamela & Ryan Hunter’s Whippet, Ch, GB & Int Ch Mossbawnhill It’s All About Me, Euro Winner ’09 and now 5yrs old and still showing the way.

Wal Westren’s Junior Stakes winner was Grainne Keeling’s Alaskan Malamute, Libertia Arc Angel At Kishdigra, 13 months old ‘Gabriel’ with 3 Green Stars, 2 with BOB, and 4 Reserves, under his belt already. Tom & Annie Mervyn’s G.S.H.P. Barleyarch Blue Riband At Tomanipoint, already a Junior Champion, showed his Champion kennelmates that he is waiting in the wings when he took the 2nd rosette

CLONMEL '12 PUPPY STAKES
Judge for the Puppy Stakes was Aussie Wal Westren, where he gave Maureen and Brian Carroll’s homebred Keeshond, Lyntova Midnight Dream, the Clonmel ticket to the POTY next Easter. ‘Georgia’ is 11 months old. Runner up was the visiting Border Terrier, Bimandi’s Belladonna, owned by the Holmes’ from Suffolk.

CLONMEL '12 VETERAN STAKES
Wal western also judged the veteran Stakes at Clonmel, and winning here was the Wire Fox Terrier, Laural Boy, owned by a delighted Veronica Coutts who makes the trip to almost all of the irish shows from her home in Scotland. Her 11 year old boy finished 4th last year in ICP/ROYAL CANIN Veteran Leaderboard.

Sarah Matthews’ Pembroke Corgi, Ch & GB Ch Maplecreek Beach Bunny At Craigycor, handled by husband, Alan, was triumphant in Group 1 under Mrs A Bowe, from Australia. ‘Bunny’, as her titles suggest, has been a big winner for Alan and Sarah, with many groups and BIS to her credit. In 2nd spot was Michael Lawless’ Bouvier Des Flandres, Ch Lachlans X Facter, a regular winner for this kennel.

Well known Boxer man, Arthur Butters, judged Group 2 and he have the winners rosette to Austin & Ann Long-Doyle’s St Bernard, Ch Il Divo Roly By Longsdyle, his third such award, and he went on to BIS3 later in the day. Ciaran & Ann Marie Donnelly & Billy & Josh Henderson’s Dobermann, Ch & GB Ch Tuwos Hrana, winner of countless groups and BIS, handled by Billy, was 2nd.

Dave Lawlor, Chairman of Killarney had a day off from planning his show on the Tuesday, and judged Group 3 at Clonmel, finding his winner in Rita & Alan Fitzsimmons’ Yorkshire Terrier, Ch Only You My Sky De Nemrac-Aniuq At Fitzelly, his Best in Show winner at Bray back in July. Louisa and Caroline Mallon’s West Highland White Terrier, 12 months old Colla Olympia, took second place.

Laurent Heinesche judged the Dachshunds of Group 4 and his winner was Julie Emerson’s Mini Long, Longart Mini Cooper At Pachego, handled by daughter, Courtney with Seamus Dunne & breeder Sharon Shone’s Mini Wire, Ch Hanishan Solitaire, runner-up.

Ann Taggart was ring centre for Group 5 and her winner was the eventual Reserve BIS winning Pomeranian, James Newman’s Pomeranian, Ch, GB & CIB Ch Belliver The Ultimate Creation; ’Victoria’ is currently 2nd in Group 5 on the Leaderboard whilst Kieran Behan’s Chow Chow, Ch Mingfield Master Chief, handled by dad Philip, and group4 at Hibernian, was 2nd.

Natasha Davidovic from Serbia judged Group 6, sending on the eventual BIS winning Beagle, Eamon Murray’s Beagle, Ch Heathergrove Persian Warrior, whilst Gwen Huikeshoven’s Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen, Tarmachan Albanwr back in GB from the Netherlands, with breeders Fiona Buchanan and Michael MacLaren, was Group 2nd.winner, handled by Fiona.

Les Chambers chose Helga Edmonson & Cicely Robertshaw’s Pointer, Crookrise Agathis, for his Group 7 winner: ‘Aggie’ who was over for last year’s circuit, is just 19 months old. The McLoughlin’s from Roscrea took group 2nd with their G.S.H.P. Fieldfine Deja Brewing Up A Storm At Wingfield, a first group placing for them.

Sinead Taggart could find nothing to lower the colours of Joe Caulfield and Joanna Furlong’s Irish Water Spaniel, Sh Ch & Int Sh Ch Fynder On Shifting Ground, winner of no fewer than eight Group 8 victories so far this year with more to come during the week. Taking 2nd place was Michelle Knapp’s English Springer Spaniel, Sh Ch Calvadale Thief Taker.

John J Walsh gave Ann Ingram & Kay Ryan’s Toy Poodle, Tirkane Legally Blond, top honours; she finished BIS 4. Rose & Colm White’s Bichon Frise, Ch & Am Gr Ch Whitebreds Pearls Heir To The Throne, who won his Irish crown at Kilkenny, and took his first CC at SKC in May, was 2nd.

Jarmo Vourinen judged Group 10, his winner being Pamela & Ryan Hunter’s Whippet, Ch, GB & Int Ch Mossbawnhill It’s All About Me, ‘Pebbles’ had earlier taken 2nd in Champ Stakes. Second place fell to Carla Bollard O’Callaghan’s multi group and BIS winning Afghan, Ch & GB Ch Ashahni Amir; ‘Caleb’ recently winning his 3rd CC with BOB at Paignton.
