CLOGHRAN '15 BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW
Modwena Johnston’s Best Baby Puppy in Show was Brenda Groves and Steve Hare’s French Bulldog, Swiftwood Cute As A Daisy At Jimbren, 5 months old ‘Daisy’ taking her second BBPIS award after also winning at the IKC International Day 2. Laura Huston’s Cocker Spaniel, Hustonia Fernando was declared RBBPIS.

Lynda Cuthbert and husband, Colin, are off to the POTY next Easter thanks to Puppy Stakes judge, James Newman, who chose from 47 hopefuls, their young bitch, Supeta’s Iced Gem at Ailesbury, with the runner-up place to Thomas McCallon’s Bulldog, Ashaka Our Alfie.

Topping the Champion Stakes under James Newman was Stephen Minogue’s Japanese Shiba Inu, Ch Jiltrain Jackpott; what a year this young dog has had, in March winning POTY 2014 following his Group & BIS 3 win at IKC Celtic Winners, going on to take another group at Banbridge, followed by his third group and Best in Show at Hibernian. A further Group win at Tralee, plus other placings takes him to joint top of the Group 5 Legacy Leaderboard and 2nd on the GAIN Petfoods/Irish Canine Press/Dog World Leaderboard. Second was the Golden Retriever, Sh Ch Shinehill Summer Jazz of Woodmore, owned by the father and son partnership of Liam and Brian Moran.

James Newman was also ring centre for the Veteran Stakes, the first four from these stakes during the year winning points towards the Royal Canin/Irish Canine Press Veteran of the Year. Winning here was Pamela and Ryan Hunter’s Whippet, Ch, GB & Int Ch Mossbawnhill Its All About Me, with Andrea Cleary’s Rottweiler, Ch & GB Ch Cuchulain The Brave, second.

Winning the Brace Stakes under James Newman was the White Miniature Schnauzer duo Svarcava Glitter Girl and Of Taita’s Ushabti Enzo-Bianco, owned by Linna Klavsone.
CLOGHRAN '15 GROUP 1
Stephanie Walsh judged Group 1, finding her winner in the Old English Sheepdog, Colm and Rose Hastings’ Belgian import, No One But Me Aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal, group winner at Limerick, with David and Morag Connolly’s Border Collie, 2 ½ year old Huntly Gotcha at Huntly, homebred ‘Cassie’ on a rare show outing taking a first group placing.

Fiona Hurley was judging Group 2 for the first time and her winner was the Boxer, Ballygunnermore Hazel Prince of Carrue, owned by Anne Martin; three years old ‘Toby’ had earlier won his first Green Star and he has two Reserves. Dione Fitzsimons’ homebred Dobermann, Ch Fitzkin Has It, repeated his Bangor award taking second place.

Angela Hancock was judging the Terriers of Group 3 and she found her winner in Kevin Maye and Cathy Delmar’s Kerry Blue Terrier, Miculadh Shine On At Shillelagh, 3 ½ year old ‘Storm’ taking a first group placing, with Harry O’Donoghue’s Wire Fox Terrier, Blackdale Starboard, also taking a first group placing in 2nd.

Mary Mulvaney was running the rule over the Dachshunds and her Group 4 winner was Gerry McFaul’s Long Haired, Shardaroba Taylor Made for Dachville; newly crowned ‘Taylor’ winning his first group and finishing BIS 4. In second was David Walsh’s Miniature Long Haired, Walynes First Impression, ‘Murphy’ made up on the day.

John Minchin was in the driving seat for Group 5 speeding the Siberian Husky, Jimmy Duggan’s Ch, GB & Int Ch Bedarra Cold Paws Warm Heart for Leorient, on the road to BIS 3, whilst 2nd was Stephen Minogue’s Champion Stakes winner, the Japanese Shiba Inu, Ch Jiltrain Jackpott.

John Minchin also judged Group 6 and his winning Basset Hound, Ch, GB & Int Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, owned and bred by Barry O’Neill, went on to Reserve Best in Show. The Rhodesian Ridgeback, Eddie and Gail Patterson’s Ch Rocksham Kimweri, took 2nd place; ‘Paddy’ with several group placings this year.

It was Chris Hancock who sent through to Best in Show the G.S.H.P.‘Rory’, Tom and Annie Mervyn’s GSP, Sh Ch Tomanipoint Celtic Knight, whilst Kay Donnelly’s Irish Setter, Sh Ch Millcroft Whispering Moon, was his choice for the 2nd rosette; 3 ½ year old ‘Jodi’ with a Reserve CC and BIS at the Club Show and group 4 at both Portadown and Limerick.

Recently more used to winning rather than handing out rosettes, Emma Archibald judged Group 8, and her winner gave Ralph Dunne’s Clumber Spaniel, Sh Ch Richley Royale Bond, his second group win in succession, this giving ‘Eldridge’ his fifth group so far this year. Runner up was the Golden Retriever, Brian and Liam Moran’s Sh Ch Woodmore Ringo Starr, homebred ‘Harry’ taking his first group spot this year.

Diane Casey was judging Group 9 and her winner was the Lhasa Apso, Stephen Lloyd’s homebred Owenavera Wots It All About, yet another 16 months old winner today. ‘Alfie’ was winning his first group following his Reserve CC from Belfast at the end of September. The Maltese, Jason McMorrow’s Ch Ripley Wonder of Love, BIS 3 at Kilkenny, was second.

Carla Bollard-O’Callaghan’s Afghan Hound, Ashahni Celtic Fire, topped Group 10 under Mary Mulvaney, young ‘Nico’ won the groups at Cork and the IKC Summer Show. Second was Kate Harbinson’s Saluki, Ch Ulmarra Moet And Chandon at Actolia, handled today by Sarah Cushley; he was Group 4th at Bray, Limerick and Bull Breeds.
