CLOGHRAN '14 BEST IN SHOW
Cloghran championship show is the penultimate show of the year in Ireland, and this year it saw an excellent entry of almost 1,250 dogs for the panel of mostly progressing Irish judges to assess. Chris Hancock of Hancourt Labrador Retriever fame was judging best in show for the first time. From the ten group winners he decided that the Siberian Husky, Jimmy Duggan’s Ch/GB/Int Ch Bedarra Cold Paws Warm Heart for Leorient, was his winner, ‘Flint’ handled as ever by Jimmy’s wife Anita Foley-Duggan. Top of Group 5 on the Irish Canine Press/Royal Canin Top Winners Leaderboard, Flint also took the crystal for top group 5 winner in ’12 and was second in ‘13. RBIS went to Mary and Martin O’Donoghue’s Labrador Retriever Philipstown Beach Boy, who had earlier won his second group of the year.

CLOGHRAN '14 BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW
The BIS judge also selects the Best Baby Puppy in Show from all the BBP in breeds and Chris Hancock gave the rosette to Morag and David Connolly’s Jack Russell Terrier, Krisbos Grand Design by Huntly. Runner-up was Murphy’s Standard Poodle Tomeda Break Every Rule Kodi.

Judging the terriers of group 3 was Liz Wogan and she picked the Airedale, Marion and Roy Gregg’s Ch/GB/Int Ch Bambusa Most Noble, as her winner. Runner-up was the Italian-owned Miniature Bull Terrier, Moreno Scotton’s Ch Grasco’s Honky Tonk, in the charge of Ger Cox.

Marleen Collins judged group 6 and she gave her top award to the Basset Hound, Barry O’Neill’s Basset, Ch/GB/Int Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy. Marleen gave her second place rosette to Eddie and Gail Patterson’s Rhodesian Ridgeback Ch Rocksham Kimweri.

John Bond judged group 7 and his winner was the Gordon Setter, Sharon Kelly’s Sh Ch Minvery’s Sainted Sinner, owned with Jane Hough and Dorothy Park. Second was Seamus and Maura Gettings’ German Wirehaired Pointer Ch/Sh Ch/Int Ch Kimmax Krystal Klear of Beechillawn.

Maria McEntee O’Sullivan was assessing the group 8 winners and she chose for her winner Mary and Martin O’Donoghue’s Labrador Retriever Philipstown Beach Boy, who ended his day RBIS, while Brianand Liam Moran’s Golden Retriever Shinehill Summer Jazz of Woodmore was second.

Group 9 was judged by Stephen Minogue and his winner was Sean Carroll and James Newman’s Papillon Ch/Ger Ch Denemore Toy Story, while Raymond O’Neill handled his Pekingese Trendylook Kennedy to take the second rosette.

David Walsh was ring centre again for group 10, the sighthounds, and gave the red rosette to the Afghan Hound Ch Davashey To Tell The Truth, owned by Mary Mulvaney, Lyn Appleby, Jane Edwards and John Minchin. Kathleen and the late John Kelly’s Irish Wolfhound Fear of Nutstown, handled by Gerry Clarke was second.
