Group 1 was judged by Ann White, and her winner was Colm and Rose Hastings’ Old English Sheepdog, Ch, GB & Am & Int Ch Lambluvs Live The Dream; ‘Sue’ recently taking her third CC at Working Breeds of Scotland, so after a cracking career here in Ireland has returned to the ‘States for a while with three new titles on her. Second here was Jean, Paul and Kelly Lawless’ Schipperke, Ch & GB Ch Monterrez Jingle Belle for Hantreved.

Jean McClancy of Dachshund fame judged Group 2 where her winner was Tracy Shelly’s Shar Pei, Zaralee Gotta Lotta Nerve Jun Ch; ‘Twitch’s’ Green Star earlier giving her the Annual Ch title, and ‘young’ William Dobbin handled his parents’ Willie and Mandy’s Newfoundland, Multi CC and BIS winning Ch & GB Ch Fairweathers Knockout with Brooklynbear, to second place.

Better known in the Gundog ring, Chris Laverty was in charge of Group 3 for the first time at this level, and he found his winner in Cathy Neill and Cara Davani’s BIS winning Kerry Blue, Ch & GB Ch Kebulak Dirty Harry, who is L/B 2nd highest Terrier of the year, handled by Cathy and bred by Cara. Runner up spot went to Sharp-Dixon and Reyes’ Australian Silky Terrier, Curiosity Love Affair, handled by Kelly Lawless,

En route to Reserve BIS, Gerry McFaul’s Long Haired Dachshund, Ch & GB Ch Dachville Special Blend, won Group 4 under terrier man, Philip O’Brien, also judging this group for the fi rst time. Philip chose for his Group 2nd, Michael Crowley’s Smooth Haired, Ch Lucy of Donnamarc.

Irish Wolfhound and Wire Dachshund aficionado Marion Finney, judged the well filled Group 5, her winner being the Siberian Husky, Foley’s ‘Flint’, Ch Bederra Cold Paws Warm Heart For Leorient, who finished BIS 3 later. Second place went to Séan Carroll and James Newman’s Pomeranian, Ch, GB & Int Ch Belliver The Ultimate Creation; ‘Victoria’ this year taking 3 groups and Reserve BIS at both Clonmel and IKC International.
CLOGHRAN '12 GROUP 6
Taking the red rosette in Group 6 from judge Eamon White, was Barry O’Neill and Sandra Stack’s Basset Hound, Ch & GB Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy; winning his fourteenth such award this year and he was BIS at Hibernian and Kilkenny, taking his fifth CC at Belfast in September. He is the very clear winner of the ICP/Connolly’s Red Mills Group 6 Leaderboard for 2012. Aidan McKiernan was back in the ring again after winning the Ch Stakes with his English Setter, this time taking Group 2nd with his young Beagle, Dialynne Indiana Jones at Bushbane, just a puppy, but taking the Res CC at Belfast at just 6 months old, ‘Indie’ has also a BPIS, won the Hound puppy group at Belfast and was recently crowned N I Show Pup of the Year 2012 too.

Con Hackett judged Group 7 and he sent on to the BIS ring the Irish Setter, Cathy Loughlin and Katie Kelly’s Sh Ch Rohanmore You Were Made For Me, who finished BIS 4. Tom and Annie Mervyn’s German Shorthaired Pointer, Barleyarch Blue Riband At Tomanpoint, was Group 2nd, handled by Annie to win his Irish Title earlier under Cathy Delmar.

Joy O’Connor was ring centre for Group 8, her winner being Colm Beattie and wife, Rita’s American Cocker Spaniel, Ch, GB & Int Ch Afterglow Carlsberg, owned in partnership with breeders, Jason Lyn and Andy Yau. He had also won the group earlier in the year at Fermoy International, and later in the day, did a lap of honour in the main ring as the judge, Philomena Leonard, is his sister. Runner up was the latest upcoming star from Mary and Martin O’Donoghue’s Philipstown Labrador kennels, 19 months old Philipstown Hilda, handled by Mary, taking a first group placing.

Group 9 was judged by Chris Laverty, his second group of the day, and he chose the eventual BIS winning Papillon, ‘Ruben’, Ch, GB, Ger, Slov & Int Ch Denemore Iconsruben handled by Séan, with Yvonne Cannon’s Shih Tzu, Ch Cloughlea Dare To Believe, runner up, repeating her Kilkenny and IKC National placings; she was the group winner and Reserve BIS at Portadown in October.

Stephanie Robertson was in charge of the sighthounds of Group 10 and her winner was the Whippet, Vivian Coulter’s Collooney You’re In My Heart, handled by Tracy Gill, a first group win and placing for this dog that is owner bred. Runner up was John and Kathleen Kelly’s Irish Wolfhound, Ch Prince Finn of Nutstown, handled on the day by Jim Behan.

Last year’s Junior Handler of the Year, Katie Kelly, was Mark McDonnell’s 15 – 17 years winner, handling her Irish Setter, Sh Ch Rohanmor You Were Made For Me, ‘Digger’ owned with breeder, Cathy Loughlin, and Katie finished Best Overall.
