Best Puppy in Show from the ten puppy group winners was the Shih Tzu, Plenard My Dad’s A Super Hero, owned by Philomena & Paddy Leonard and daughters, Aisling and Blaithnaid. Marie Hamill gave the runner up spot to the Leonberger, Mandy Moore’s Leokings Premiere Attraction, handled by Donal O’Donoghue.

Best Veteran in Show under Marie Hamill was Lynda Dunn’s Saluki, Ch Aust Int Rom & Rom Vet Ch Padtheway Notorious with Runner up to Emma, Frank & Bette Archibald’s Golden Retriever, Sh Ch Gunhills Venus in Blue Jeans Over Abinvale.

Taking first place in the Junior Stakes was Maureen and John Jnr. Byrne's Tibetan Terrier, Siddhartha Judide For Ger, with Angela Quinlan's Maltese, Zumarnik Thumbelina runner-up.

Juan Naveda Carrero from Spain judged Group 2, and his winner was Tríona Ní Shé’s Dobermann Pinscher, Ch Farentino Wot A Thriller at Ruholfia Jun Ch, with second place to Andrea Cleary’s Rottweiler, Ch Cuchulain the Brave.

The eventual Reserve BIS winning Smooth Fox Terrier, Ross Delmar’s multi Group & BIS winning Ch Shillelagh Smooth Operator Jun Ch, topped Group 3 under Bojan Matakovic from Croatia, who gave Brady’s Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Macfinn Tievnaman, 2nd place.

Ramune Kazlauskaite from Lithuania’s Group 4 winner was Lesley Patton’s Standard Wire Haired Dachshund, Ch Lesandnic Sea The Stars, with David Walsh & Gary McAlpine’s Miniature Long Haired, Walpines Brandy Cream, runner-up.

Maria Ceccarelli from Italy judged Group 5 where her winner was Jimmy Duggan’s Siberian Husky, Ch Bedarra Cold Paws Warm Heart for Leorient, handled by wife, Anita. Runner up spot went to Peri Burnside’s Alaskan Malamute, Ch & Multi Ch Tamon Del Biaggio, handled by son, Adam.

Group 6 was also judged by Ramune Kazlauskaite, who gave the rosette to Barry O’Neill & Sandra Stack’s Basset Hound, Ch & GB Ch Knockogue Arthur’s Legacy, with, in second, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, Druimderg Fire And Ice Jun Ch, handled and owned by Lydia Cooper and her daughter Rebecca.

Mary O’Donoghue of the well known Philipstown Labradors judged Group 7, where her winner was the English Setter, Aidan McKiernan’s Sh Ch Richecca Reach For The Skye, whilst Mick Cooper handled his and wife, Cathy’s, Bracco Italiano, Sh Ch Primo Petruccio, for the 2nd rosette.

Serbian judge, Nemanja Jovanovic judged Group 8, and his 1st place rosette went to Joe Caulfield and Joanna Furlong’s Irish Water Spaniel, Sh Ch & CIE Fynder On Shifting Ground, with Stanley Loughlin’s Welsh Springer Spaniel, Sh Ch Waldheim Draig Coch Jun Ch, handled by his granddaughter, reserve.

Branislav Rajic, from Slovenia, judged Group 9 and his winner was the eventual BIS winning Papillon, Sean Carroll and James Newman’s Ch, GB Ger Slov Mont Int Ch Denemore Iconsruben, whilst Ashling Connolly’s Bichon Frise, Ashmair Double Act, was second.

The winner of Group 10 under Dusan Paunovic from Serbia was the Irish Wolfhound from Slovakia, Petra Tomasovicova’s Irish Wolfhound bitch, much titled Ch, NL Ch, SK Ch Absolut Roan Inish Tullamore Good Stuff, whilst Michael Western’s Saluki, Ch & Int Ch Ulmarra Salib, was runner-up.

COMBINED CANINE CLUB PUP OF THE YEAR 2011 - PUP OF THE YEAR
Having won the IKC Showdog Awards 2011 Finals at the Crowne Plaza in February under Nina Karlsdotter, Ashling Connolly’s homebred Bichon Frisé, Ashmair Double Act, was crowned Combined Canine Club Pup of the Year under Croatian judge, Bojan Matakovic, whose name was the first out of the hat. Now designated the ‘Gain POTY’ as the new sponsor is Gain Pet Food, ‘Beau’ who started 2012 needing to take just one more Green Star over the age of 15 months to clinch his Irish crown, took that vital win at IKC Celtic Winners in March, compounding it the previous day at CCC International under Michael Forte, just to be sure, so is now an Irish Champion as well as a Junior Champion. With 9 group placings last year, including two Group 1st and a BIS 3rd, he already has a CC & BIS from the Northern and Midland Bichon Club Show, and a RCC from Belfast last year. He had qualified for the POTY finals at Fermoy International in May ’11 under Donal Neally. Cathy and Sean Lydon’s Tibetan Terrier, Tripitaka Bite The Bullet, was the f qualifier for CCC’s Xmas Open Show last December under Maudie Burke.

Finishing 4th in the POTY 2011 was Barry O’Neill and Sandra Stack’s Basset Hound, Ch & GB Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy. He qualified at last year’s IKC Celtic Winners Show on St Patrick’s Day under Eddie Patterson.

Lynda Cuthbert Matthews handled her Whippet, homebred Ailesbury Ghost King, owned with husband, Colin, to win the Puppy Stakes at Bangor last August under judge June Wall.
