Jean, Kelly & Paul Lawless’s homebred BSD Groenendael, Ch & GB Ch Revloch Figo, took his second BIS of the year at the All Ireland Bull Breeds Ch Show, this one under Ross Delmar of the Shillelagh Smooth Fox Terriers, judging his first BIS. ‘Figo’, handled on the day by Jean, and who also has 8 CCs and is currently top of the GAIN Petfood/Irish Canine Press/Dog World Group 1 Leaderboard and the ICP Legacy Leaderboard. Ross gave Reserve BIS to Jimmy Duggan’s Siberian Husky, Ch GB & Int Ch Bedarra Cold Paws Warm Heart for Leorient, handled as ever by wife, Anita Foley Duggan, ‘Flint’, the Siberian Husky, is no stranger to the top show spots, being a multi group & BIS winner.

BULL BREEDS '15 BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW
Best Baby Puppy in Show under Ross Delmar, was Marianne Dunne’s little Jack Russell bitch, homebred 5 months old ‘Sophie’ Krisbos Eliza. Reserve rosette went to the Shetland Sheepdog, Emilio Castillo and Patrick Fortune’s 4 months old Navarrem Miss Hilde, ‘Eva’ was also RBBPIS at the IKC International 1 Ch Show just a couple of weeks back.

Grainne Keeling was delighted when Stakes judge, Stephen O’Brien, gave the red rosette for the Puppy Stakes to her Alaskan Malamute, Kishdigra Criminal Intent, 10 months homebred ‘Sura’, on route to a good night out at the POTY next Easter.
BULL BREEDS '15 CHAMPION STAKES
Topping the Champion Stakes under Stephen O’Brien, was Emma Archibald’s Golden Retriever, Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Abinvale The Aviator; bred and owned in partnership by Emma and her Mum and Dad, Bette & Frank, ‘Darci’ was the Group winner at both Banbridge and Sligo this year. Runner-up was the Whippet, Jim Fletcher and breeder, Viv Coulter’s Ch Collooney Swings Both Ways, Group 10 winner at Hibernian in May.
BULL BREEDS '15 VETERAN STAKES
Stephen O’Brien also judged the Veteran Stakes and his winner was the Pyrenean Mountain Dog, Sally Tonks and Dionne Fitzsimons’ Ch, GB & Int Ch Shanlimore Maverick, handled by Howard Tonks. BIS winning ‘Darcy’ a very young 10 year old and also a Veteran Champion, is Top Veteran for 2015 on the Royal Canin/Irish Canine Press Top Veteran Leaderboard courtesy of his regular wins throughout the year, and he has also topped the breed in 2008, ’09. ’11,’12 & ’13. Second was the Shetland Sheepdog, Margaret NcArdle’s 9 years old Slievemac Spaceman.

Jan Ebels from The Netherlands judged Group 1 and also all the breeds in the group except the GSDS. His Group winner was the BSD Groenendael, the Lawless family’s Ch & GB Ch Revloch Figo, on his way to winning BIS, with David McKenna’s Bouvier Des Flandres, Ch Nikolaev Tyrion at Davdeir, in second place.

Polish judge, W Mrowiec, gave top honours in Group 2 to the Dobermann Pinscher, Tríona Ní She’s much travelled Ch, GB, NL, Lux & Int Ch Farentino Wot A Thriller at Ruholfia, ‘Tino’ taking his second group win of the year. Ashling Connolly and Paul Scanlon’s Miniature Schnauzer, BIS winning Ch Nujax Johnny Cash, took 2nd place; ‘Cash’, with 4 groups and multiple placings this year, is Top of Group 2 on the GAIN Petfoods/Irish Canine Press/Dog World Leaderboard.

The Terriers of Group 3 were judged by Michael Murphy, who sent on to the BIS ring the Lakeland Terrier, Catherine and Tina Broaders’ Ch Brookside Aristocrat, handled by Catherine. ‘Jack’ on his way to BIS 4. Second was Inga Flamang and Ken Crockett’s West Highland White Terrier, Ch & GB Ch Magic Matisse Vom Maerchengarten, ‘Matisse’ was bred by Inga.

Lilian De Ridder Onghena from Belgium judged the Dachshunds, both the breeds and their Group. She gave top honours to the Smooth Haired, Mys Ch Hacienda Better Tell Dad, owned by Caroline Reynolds, her sister Wendy Fleming, Chris Moes and R Williams, and was bred and titled in Malaysia by Gopi Krishnan. Two years old ‘Memphis’ won her first group in September. Lesley Patton took 2nd spot with her Wire Haired, homebred Lesandnic Snow Fairy, almost 15 months, this little lady won the group at Sligo in July, finishing BIS 3 when still a puppy.

G Nordahl Pederson from Norway was ring centre for Group 5 and winning here was the Siberian Husky, Jimmy Duggan’s Ch, GB & Int Ch Bedarra Cold Paws Warm Heart for Leorient, ‘Flint’ handled by Anita Foley Duggan as ever and on his way to Reserve BIS. Joan Duffus’ American import, Ch, Am, Neth & Int Ch McMagic’s The Candy Man of Pebbles Run, Group 3rd at Coleraine, was second.

Barry O’Neill’s now legendary Basset Hound, Ch, GB & Int Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, took top honours under Group 6 judge, Tom Hehir; incredibly this was ‘Arthur’s’ 79th Group win in his very successful career. Eamon Murray’s beagle, homebred youngster, Heathergrove Caravola, was second, nearly 17 months old, he won the group at both Fermoy International and Swords.

Olive Carty was in charge of Group 7 where she found her winner in Sinead Taggart’s Hungarian Vizsla, Sh Ch, GB Sh Ch & Lux Ch Bitcon Card Tricks for Cooley, ‘Rafa’ later finishing BIS 3. Diane Ritchie-Stewart’s BIS and multi CC winning Irish Setter, Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Gwendariff Whippersnapper, ‘Nilsson’ currently top Irish Setter in GB, and BIS at Munster, Deise and Bray, with RBIS at IKC Int 2, giving him, at time of writing, top place for Dog of the Year with just two shows to go.

Stephanie Walsh from Sligo judged Group 8, her main rosette going to Ralph Dunne’s Clumber Spaniel, homebred Sh Ch Richley Royale Bond, ‘Eldridge’,and his litter sister, ‘Etta’ recently did the double at the Breed Club show in GB, ‘Eldridge following up on his Best Puppy at the same show last year. Emma, Bette & Frank Archibald’s Golden Retriever, this time their youngster, Abinvale Levanto, RBIS as a puppy at South Tipperary, was second.

Lilian De Ridder Onghena judged Group 9 where her winner was the Pekingese, Henry Stanley and Gordon Gault’s Pekehuis Midnight Magic, handled by Henry. ‘Scooby’ was 2nd in the group at the IKC Int 2 and now has 6 Green stars towards his title. For second place, Lilian chose a delighted Karen Murphy’s Pug, Harryky Simply The Nuts, otherwise known as ‘Peanut’ who is just 18 months and is also a Junior Champion.

Cybel Alford was ring centre for Group 10 and her winner was the Afghan Hound, Ch & Int Ch Davashey To Tell The Truth, owned by Lyn Appleby, John Minchin, Jane Edwards and Mary Mulvaney, who handles him. ‘Kayto’ was BIS at Bangor in September and also won the group at Portadown. His many placings in the Group have taken him to currently top the GAIN Petfoods/Irish Canine Press/Dog World Group 10 Leaderboard and 2nd on the Legacy Leaderboard. The Borzoi, Ann Cuthbert and handler Stephen Minogue’s Ch & Int Ch Donskoi Asmodey, was 2nd here. Group winner at Bray and Sligo, where he finished BIS 4, ‘Louis’ actually heads the Legacy Leaderboard with his group points and is a previous BIS winner.
