Diane Stewart-Ritchie’s Irish Setter, Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Gwendariff Whippersnapper went Best in Show at Bray and District's 69th Championship Show under Tim Finney of Gulliagh Irish Wolfhound and Dachshund fame. This was the second weekend in a row that 'Nilsson' has won BIS and his third this year. Reserve BIS under Tim Finney was another top winner, Ashling Connolly’s Bichon Frise, Ch & GB Ch Ashmair Double Act, ‘Beau’ today winning his third group of the year.

BRAY '15 BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW
Tim Finney also judged Best Baby Puppy in Show from all the baby puppy in breed winners and topping the babies at Bray was Heather and Davy Stewart’s 5 months old Lhasa Apso, Bacchante Brigida, with RBBPIS awarded to Paul and Linda Magee’s Great Dane, 5 months old Clonallan Howl Yer Whist.

Heading up the array of champions and qualifying for the Fosse Data Champion of Champions Finals in January was George and Georgina Corneille’s 5 year old Tibetan Terrier, Ch, Fin, Dan & Int Ch Falamadus One Kick Ahead With Lilasong. Runner-up under Angela McNally was Donal O’Donoghue and Ber Mulley’s Leonberger, Ch Ruben Vom Lowengarten.

The Puppy Stakes at Bray were judged by Angela McNally, topping the puppies was Philip Behan’s homebred Chow Chow, Mingfield Princess Aura. Runner-up under Angela was Seamus and Maura Gettings’ German Wirehaired Pointer, Beechillawn Sound Of The Underground.

Taking top spot in the Veteran Stakes under Angela McNally was Dione Fitzsimons and Sally Tonks’ Pyrenean Mountain Dog, Ch, GB & Int Ch Shanlimore Maverick, with the second place going to Pamela and Ryan Hunter’s Whippet, Ch, GB & Int Ch Mossbawnhill It’s All About Me.

Angela McNally’s Brace Stakes winners were the Australian Shepherd Dogs, Tracey Douglas, Neil Allan & Robert Harlow’s Ch Allmark Naughty But Nice and Ch, GB, Lux, Am Gr Ch Bayshore Stonehaven Cat Burglar.

Norwegian judge Per Kr Andersen judged Group 1, finding his winner in Jean, Paul and Kelly Lawless’ BSD Groenendael, Ch & GB Ch Revloch Figo, who went on to BIS 3, with second place going to Emilio Castillo and Patrick Fortune’s Shetland Sheepdog, Can Ch Grandgables Romantica, 3 year old ‘Tica’ today taking her Irish crown to add to her Canadian title with her 7th Green star.

Noreen Clarke was centre ring for Group 2 where her winner was Sandra English’s Short Haired St Bernard, Ch Santomard Anubus; handled by Tommy Lawlor. Runner-up spot went to Ann Moore’s 3 year old Dobermann, Rozenyas Playin With Fire.

Topping the terriers in Group 3 under Elaine Butler was Ross Delmar and Ewa Lunden’s Smooth Fox Terrier, Ch, Swe, Nor, DK & Int Ch Residentsets Stand-in, handled today by mum Cathy as Ross was away on a judging engagement. In second place under Elaine was Catherine and Tina Broaders’ Lakeland Terrier, Ch Brookside Aristocrat.

Tim Finney, who was also the BIS judge made the decisions in Group 4 where his winner was Martin McDonnell’s Miniature Long, Ch Smartdac She’s The One, en route to BIS 4, whilst Gerry McFaul’s Long Haired, multi group & CC winning Ch & GB Ch Dachville Special Blend, was in second spot.

Taking the red rosette in Group 5 under Miroslaw Redlicki from Poland was the Thai Ridgeback, Svitlana and Oleksandra Voloshchuk’s My Thaia Des Poenjaap, making history with a first group or placing ever for this breed in Ireland; ‘Thaia’ had earlier won her eighth green star, having won her crown previously at Swords, becoming the first ever Champion in her breed. The American imported Keeshond, Maureen & Brian Carroll’s Cedarhills-Shamrock Foreign Correspondent, took 2nd place.

Aidan McKiernan was ring centre for Group 6, where his winner was Louisa & Eddie Casey’s Dalmatian, Ch Buffrey Pop Goes The Weasel at Moyglass; this was ‘James’ fifth group place this year. Runner-up was the Basset, Barry O’Neill’s Ch, GB & Int Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, ‘Arthur’ with nine groups under his belt and he was BIS at South Tipperary.

Ralph Dunne judged Group 7, and it was he who sent on the Irish Setter, Diane Stewart-Ritchie’s Sh Ch & GB Sh Ch Gwendariff Whippersnapper, to finish BIS. Eddie Casey and Richard Stafford’s Weimamaner, NZ & GB Ch Carnmellis Hot Dikkety Dog at Gunalt, took 2nd spot; ‘Doug’ has 15 CCs and 2 UK Group wins.

English judge David Shields found his winner in Emma, Bette and Frank Archibald’s homebred Golden Retriever, Sh Ch Abinvale Mystic River; CC winning ‘Tegan’ also the winner at Newtownards. Jenny Ward, on a visit from GB, took 2nd with her American Cocker Spaniel, Finndain Dans With My Fartha at Mischtikals; ‘Charlie’ had earlier won his 3rd GS.

Stephen Bardwell from England was ring centre for Group 9, he send on to the eventual RBIS spot Ashling Connolly’s top winning Bichon Frise, Ch & GB Ch Ashmair Double Act; runner-up was the previous week’s Group winner, Jason McMorrow’s Maltese, Ch Ripley Wonder of Love, group winner and BIS 3 at Kilkenny.

Diane O’Hara was judged the sighthounds of Group 10, and her winner was Ann Cuthbert and Stephen Minogue’s Borzoi, Ch & Int Ch Donskoi Asmodey. Diane gave 2nd to Emer Mooney’s CC winning Deerhound, Ch Int Ch Rosslyn Quartet, handled as ever by Katie Kelly.

Vinnie from Swan Catering, which does all the catering at the IKC National Show centre, brought a bar-b-q outdoors thanks to the clement weather, and his food went down a treat with exhibitors, giving a party atmosphere on the day.
