Winning Best Baby Puppy in Show for the second day in a row, this time under Heather Timmins at Banbridge, was Orlaith Keenan’s Medium Poodle, Sleepyhollow Licence To Kill, with RBBPIS going to Emma Dunlop’s Beagle, Mustafar Beatrice.

Heading up the Puppy Stakes under Heather Cox was Olivia, Olive and Brendan Carty’s Havanese, Reine O'Castamere By Labayamesa, 8 months old ‘Cassie’ was handled to victory by Olivia; runner-up was Morag and David Connolly’s Jack Russell Terrier, Krisbos Hornblower At Huntly.

Heather Cox judged the Champion Stakes and her winner was the Pointer owned by Colette and Roger Perkins, Sh Ch Kanix Fate of Brent, ‘Olly’ the group winner last year at Portadown, South Tipperary, Combined National and Combined International, where he was RBIS; runner-up was the Shetland Sheepdog, Emilio Costello and Patrick Fortune’s Ch, Can Ch & Lux Ch Grandgables Romantica, group winner the previous day at Portadown.

Winning the Veteran Stakes for the second day in a row was Sally Tonks and Dione Fitzsimons’ 10 years old PMD, Ch, GB & Int Ch Shanlimore The Maverick, handled by Howard Tonks.

Michael Forte also judged Group 1 and his winner was the Border Collie, Morag and David Connolly and Judith Gregory’s Sh Ch Tonkory Gold Digger at Huntly, with 2nd going to the Australian Shepherd Dog, Ch, GB, Lux, & Am Gnd Ch Bayshore Stonehaven Cat Burglar, owned in partnership with Neil Allan, Robert Harlow and Tracy Douglas who handles him.

Joan Walsh was ring centre for Group 2 and it was she who sent through the eventual Best in Show winner, Mandy Moore’s Leonberger, Ch Leokings Lionheart at Hillhaven, with 2nd place to Dione Fitzsimons’ Dobermann Pinscher, Ch Fitzkin Has It, group winner the previous day at Portadown.

Modwena Johnston judged the terriers of Group 3 where her winner was the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Jimmy Byrnes’ DK, Nuch, Nor & Swed Ch Sandstaffs Inkberry Holly; 2½ years old ‘Vilda’ a multi Champion recently joining the Limerick based Lackyle kennels and bred in Sweden by Johan and Maria Sandstrom. Ross Delmar handled his and breeder, Ewe Lunden’s Smooth Fox Terrier, Ch, Swe, DK, Nor, Nordic & Int Ch Residentsets Stand-in, to take 2nd place.

Nina Karlsdotter judged the Dachshunds in Group 4, giving the red rosette to Martin McDonnell for his 17 months old Mini Long Haired bitch, newly crowned Ch Smartdac Rising Phoenix, on her way to BIS 3 later, while taking the 2nd spot was yesterday’s group winner, Karen Weir’s Smooth Haired Kaninchen, Ch Magik Rainbow Gloria.

José Vidal Montero judged Group 5 where he gave the Alaskan Malamute, Scarlett & Mark Burnside’s Ch Lux Int Ch Libertia Reggae Master, his second group in two days, and he finished BIS 4. Sean Carroll and James Newman’s Pomeranian, GB & Phil Ch Canton Dreamkeeper at Lireva was 2nd.

Nina Karlsdotter judged Group 6 where her winner was Barry O’Neill’s Basset, Ch, GB & Int Ch Knockogue Arthurs Legacy, taking his 83rd Group win. A bit of history was made, when Nina handed the rosette for 2nd place to Mike O’Dwyer for his 13 months old Kerry Beagle bitch, Errigal Princess, a first group placing ever for this rarest of Irish Native breeds, which Mike and his fellow breed enthusiast Michael O’Donnell, who bred ‘Blaithin’, have determined to re-establish to its rightful place as one of the 8 native breeds.
BANBRIDGE '16 GROUP 7
Michael Forte judged Group 7 where he chose for his winner the Pointer, Stewart Cummings and mum, Heather’s, Sh Ch Kanix Kroner, group 2 at Combined National and 4th at IKC CW this year, ‘Jensen’ won the group and was Reserve BIS at Dun Laoghaire last year as a Junior. Runner-up was Tom and Annie Mervyn’s well known CC winning German Shorthaired Pointer, Sh Ch Tomanipoint Celtic Knight, homebred ‘Rory’ a multi group and BIS winner who topped Killarney, Cloghran and DDSS Ch shows in 2015.

Jos Decuyper went over the BOBs of Group 8, the Spaniels and Retrievers, and his winner was the Labrador Retriever, 5½ years old Sh Ch Ramsayville Raise The Anchor at Talard, owned by Lyn, Alec and Tracey Douglas, and handled by Tracey; a second group win for ‘Cruz’. Second was Lisa Graham’s Cocker Spaniel, Sh Ch Stiloga Carling Black Label, Group 4 at IKC Celtic Winners.

Kerry Lee from Australia judged Group 9 where winner was the Pekingese, Gordon Gault and Henry Stanley’s Ch Pekehuis Midnight Magic, his third group win on the trot. Runner up was the Maltese, Jason McMorrow’s Ch Ripley Wonder of Love.

Jos Decuyper judged Group 10 and his winner was the Whippet, Jim Fletcher and breeder Vivien Coulter’s Ch Collooney Swings Both Ways. Willie and Joanne Mullen’s Irish Wolfhound, Broughadowey Cuchulainn, took his first group placing with 2nd place.
